Chapter 141 The Connecting Stone
MYSTIC SHADOWS FORTRESS
Kyrian and Logan had returned to the fortress house to pick up the connecting stone that every guardian assigned to the stone owns just incase something like theft occurs. Over centuries there has never been a cause to use it. However, due to unforeseen circumstances was why the Moon Goddess had provided an intending way out.
As soon as Logan opened the sacred room where the connecting stone was kept, he coughed out loud alongside Kyrian. There was just about enough dust in the room. However the tiny stone sat pretty on the expensive shawl looking as neat as ever. Logan ran his hands through it with a small smile on his lips.
“How do we use this?” Kyrian asked out of curiosity.
“You see this transparent ball.” Logan pointed at the rounded ball next to the stone. “The connecting stone would be placed on it. You would be surprised to find it standing just right. It would lead us to wherever the culprit is.”
“How does it know the main stone is missing?”
“I guess that’s why this is called the connecting stone. It is more like a GPS for the Moon Stone. This is how the guardians of the stone which includes me get to know if the stone is being kept right. But in actual truth I never did pay attention to the relevance of the stone even though anything going wrong with the stone, it would lead to everyone of us doom.”
“Do the Alphas know this?”
“No, they only know of the guardians of the stone but they have no idea how we get to guard it when it’s not even in our hands. That is going to be a continuous mystery. Let’s get on with this and find this motherfucker. We only have less than forty eight hours and it’s almost evening.”
“Alright, do your thing.” Kyrian urged.
Mumbling some chants under his breath, the stone came to life at Logan’s touch, when he placed it on the transparent ball, the two of them merged and the ball became more colorful like a television would show a dark movie scene. The stone suddenly shone towards the door and it has formed a compass on its own.
“What does this mean?” Kyrian asked.
“It is implies we would be driving south, that is where the stone thief is at the moment. Get the car ready, Kyrian. We might be driving a long way.” Logan said, lifting the ball and stone together with the shawl.
They hurried out of the house to get into the car in a rush. “What is on the Southside?” Kyrian asked
“That’s where the outcasts live.” Logan responded.
“Do you mean the witches?” Kyrian looked pale as he gripped the steering wheel hard.
Logan laughed loudly. “I promise you they won’t do anything funny. I know Louisa who heads the place.”
“Shouldn’t we still seek for backup?”
“That would mean hostility on our side. Trust me on this Kyrian, we don’t need any arms.” Be assured.
The drive was a long one away from their city and it was an unexpected journey of eight hours. They had to stop on the way to get edibles and ease themselves. Kyrian didn’t expect the journey to take that long. And when they did arrive at the Southside, it was long past midnight.
Just as Logan instructed, Kyrian packed the car away from the town entrance. Since it was late night and their destination was more like a community, it didn’t take long before they got noticed by the guards of the territory and were escorted to meet their leader who seem to have known about their arrival. She stood outside waiting.
Louisa was just as pretty as Logan could remember. Her hot looks was one of the reasons he had fucked her more than once. They would have remained together for a while if she didn’t become clingy which was something Logan wasn’t in for. He had lied of being on good terms with her to Kyrian. He could only hope the witches don’t use odd spells on them.
However, to be on the safe side he had texted one of his trusted warriors his location and to be at alert. Logan only told his Beta they didn’t need a backup cause he didn’t want to scare Kyrian, knowing just how much of a scared cat he is. He doesn’t fancy witches.
Louisa scoffed. “Isn’t this a rare kind of visit? What are you doing here Logan Odell?” She asked, her voice sounding hostile.
Kyrian mentally facepalmed himself cause he didn’t need a seer to tell him that Logan had screwed the said Louisa. Logan raised both of his hands in surrender. “Actually, Louisa, I am here on an official assignment concerning the werewolf packs and clan. I am here on behalf of everyone to retrieve something of ours here.”
Louisa raised a questioning brow. Her father who was the then leader had signed a pact with the werewolf council to never be of bother to them after they had been given the Southside to keep. It was to avoid any future clash.
“You do know this could be a false accusation and you should know what that would cost you.” She warned.
Logan looked unfazed. “Someone hiding here has the Moon Stone.”
Louisa’s heart thumped at his words. Having the Moon Stone be in the wrong person’s hands implies doom for everyone of them. “Do you have a name of who has the Moon Stone?”
“Xavier Hernan.” He said
“Shit!” Louisa cursed under her breath.
She had always known her cousin Savannah’s irresponsible lover would cost all of them a whole lot of trouble in the end. She should have known they had something illegal with them when a strange omen had showed itself. Taking a deep breath, she motioned to one of the guards and whispered in his ears. In a few minutes, a sleepy and half clothed Xavier and Savannah were dragged out. They struggled to free themselves when their eyes cleared.
Logan folded his hands in front of him. “I am guessing this is your sister.” He said, referring to Savannah.
Louisa rolled her eyes. “There is no need to ask for my family history. The two of them had arrived days ago, I didn’t think they were up to anything but the name you mentioned…this is the man.” She said pointing at Xavier.
“Where is the Moon Stone?” Logan asked taking an intimidating step next to Xavier.
Xavier glared at him stubbornly, he couldn’t make an escape as he was held back by a guard. “Who told you I took it?”
“The connecting stone brought us here. Do I look like a seer to know where you must have eloped to?” Logan retorted sounding angry.
“I don’t have the Moon Stone with me.” Xavier denied.
Seeing Xavier wouldn’t give out the needed information, he slapped him hard across the face and continued to hit him nonstop. Savannah screamed at the sight in front of her, it seem like Logan had suppressed Xavier’s wolf at a point and he couldn’t do anything to stop the attack. Her heart dropped when he began to bleed from the mouth and nose.
“Please stop! The Moon Stone is in the room. Please stop hitting him!” She begged.
Logan didn’t stop, he only gestured towards Kyrian and a guard to follow Savannah. He was more angry at the fact that Xavier intended to sleep with Jovy and dump her.
Louisa cleared her throat. “I hope you don’t intend to dump a dead body here after committing murder. Please take him with you, I don’t want my floors being stained with blood.” She said.
Logan gritted as he stopped his attack on Xavier who was almost laying lifeless on the floor. Kyrian came back out with the Moon Stone and it was shining brightly in response to the connecting stone waiting in the car. Kyrian went along with the stone to the car while two guards carried a weak and bloody looking Xavier behind him.
“Thanks for this, Louisa. I owe you one. Also, let it be known that your sister has been banned from ever entering the packs.” Logan said.
Louisa hissed in contempt. “Do not show that face of yours here ever again.” Turning around she walked out on him, leaving Logan with a wide grin on his face.
