Chapter 140 Baby Father
GOLD PACK
Jovy couldn’t believe the news of her pregnancy, all through the night she cried her eyes out and beat herself up for always getting caught in the middle of a burning furnace. She didn’t get a hang of herself until two days after she had heard of her present condition. She would have stayed put in her room if her friends and cousin hadn’t shown up to pull her out of her depressive state. Nadia was worried of what she might do to herself which was why she made the call.
“Why do you always act like it’s an offense to make mistakes?” Alice rebuked looking displeased.
Anastasia rubbed at her neck with guilt written all over her face. “This is all my fault. I should have told you what it was.”
Arlo shook his head. “You did right by not telling her. She was smitten by him and would have mentioned it along the line.”
Amelia heaved a sigh. “Don’t think too much about it, Jovy. We can’t condemn you cause none of us has ever been in your shoes.”
Jovy sniffed as she intertwined her fingers. “I feel so horrible, on one hand is me trusting Xavier so much and there is my ex-husband. I couldn’t resist him and gave in like the weakling that I am. Now, I am carrying his child.”
“You know you are nothing close to weak. No matter how strong you might think you are, you wouldn’t have been able to hold Alpha Logan down anyways.” Arlo added.
“Well, the Moon Goddess might have always wanted this to happen.” Alice noted. “Since it’s all out in the open now. How do we get the Moon stone back?”
Jovy blinked hard. “Well only Logan can help out.”
Her friends stared mouth agape, “How worse can this go?” Amelia muttered.
“It is clear you and Alpha Logan are destined together.” Alice mumbled.
“I doubt if he would ever want to help, not after everything Jovy has done to him.” Arlo said, biting hard on his nails.
“He definitely couldn’t forgive her and had to have a revenge sex with her.” Alice added.
Anastasia nodded in disapproval, she had another thought in mind. “Remind me why he marked you again, Jovy?”
Jovy looked confused. “He said I was his and he would never let me get married to someone else ”
“Bingo! He is still hung up on you!” Alice decoded.
“Are you sure?” Arlo sounded doubtful. “And what help would this do to retrieve the Moon stone?”
Anastasia grinned. “You know, one thing about these men is how much they cherish their children. Jovy can play the pregnancy card with him.”
Arlo laughed hysterically. “That can’t work with Alpha Logan. He has a phobia for children. He would never give in.”
Amelia huffed. “How about she gives it a trial. We never can tell, a whole lot must have changed after all of these months. Also, it’s not like we have much time. Nadia said you only have three days to the annual meeting.”
They all groaned in frustration, it was worse than they imagined. Taking a deep breath, Jovy wiped her tears, she had been holding herself down for so long. There is no way she would allow her current predicament make her turn to a weakling again.
“I will call him.” She blurted, “I don’t know if this would work but as the Luna, it is my place to protect my people and if that includes begging an ex I would gladly do it.”
Her friends had pity written on their faces while Arlo cleared his throat. “We would stick with you till the end. Do you have his contact?” He asked.
“No.” Jovy responded. Arlo shared her Logan’s contact and she dialed it placing the phone on loudspeaker.
‘Hello.’ Came his gruff voice, sending cold shivers down Jovy’s back.
‘Oh hi, this is Jovy.’
‘Baby.’ Logan mused. The others stared at themselves in disbelief. He sounded drunk. ‘I have been waiting for your call since forever. Ready to beg for your return now?’
Jovy hissed in irritation. She decided to be direct with him. ‘I need your help, the Moon Stone is missing.’
There was a long pause on the other line. ‘You should have been more careful, Luna Jovy. Why would I want to help you, Jovy? All you have done so far is ruin my business and years of hard work. Now you need my help? Give me one reason why I would want to help an enemy?’
Jovy swallowed hard, shutting her eyes tightly. ‘Because I am the mother of your unborn child, Logan. And if you want to be a part of this you will have to save us first.’
A rumbling sound was heard more like he was trying to adjust his position. ‘You are pregnant?’ His voice sounded more relaxed.
‘Yes and I just sent you the test result.’ She said, tapping hurriedly on her phone screen.
Logan gulped. ‘So do you intend to keep it?’
She hissed. ‘I told you before Logan, I will never kill my child.’
‘Listen, I am not asking you to kill it.’ He stayed quiet trying to think hard on what he has to say next. ‘I will help you find the Moon Stone on one condition.’
Jovy stared at her friends, they nodded at her to listen to whatever he has to say. ‘And what would that be?’
‘You let me back into your life, not just as our child’s father but as your man.’
She stared in shock while he friends exchanged surprised glances. She stuttered in her response. ‘A… Al… alright.’
‘Yes!’ He rejoiced in a low whisper before calling himself to order. ‘So, who is with the Moon Stone?’
‘Xavier Hernan.’
‘I see. Leave it to me.’
‘Wait!’ Jovy stopped him before he hung up. ‘We have less than forty eight hours to find it.’
‘I get it, the meeting is in three days time. Trust me to bring it home to you. Get some rest to avoid stressing yourself and the baby.’ Logan said.
“Did you call the wrong person?” Anastasia asked, surprised that the said cruel hearted Alpha sounded sweet.
Alice looked like she would cry. “I promise you he doesn’t sound like who he is.”
Arlo laughed. “I guess uncle Kyrian was right about him having regrets that you left.”
Amelia chuckled. “I pray this shouldn’t end in tears after all.”
Jovy sounded disinterested. “We can only hope so. I still don’t trust him.”
**********************
Logan whistled to himself at the end of the call. He had been hoping endlessly that Jovy would eventually accept him even though he had marked her forcefully. It had been hard for him to accept how in love he was with her but then there was no room for regrets anymore. His mind was made up, allowing love in his life wouldn’t hurt that much and not having any hurts the most.
He had never felt this way before, ever since he marked her the urge for her mounted and it became more tormenting when he couldn’t reach out to her. Drowning himself in alcohol was like the only way to keep himself going. It dawned on him that his life might never amount to nothing since everyone who cares about him are no longer interested in being with him.
However, it appears the Moon Goddess is giving him another chance at making amends which he would try not to take for granted. Taking a deep breath, Logan grabbed his car keys and headed to the very first place that came to his mind. He was surprised the door wasn’t locked from behind, as he entered the big house. There wasn’t a sight of any living being around. It had Logan feeling a bit worried as he ran up the stairs to Kyrian’s study. He heaved a sigh of relief when he found his friend bent over his laptop with ear-pods on.
Kyrian lifted his head at the sound of the door closing. He was taken aback at the sight of Logan since they haven’t been on talking terms for more than a month. Kyrian had done his very best to avoid him. There was enough controversy between them and he was tired of having constant arguments with him.
“What are you doing here?” He asked sounding cold.
Logan licked his dry lips. “I need your help.”
Kyrian let out a snort. “Obviously, you wouldn’t be here if that wasn’t the case.”
He exhaled. “But before that I would like to apologize.” The shocked look on Kyrian’s face made Logan realize how much of a bad person he must have been. “I know I was wrong, Kyrian. And maybe I have been doing a bit too much and trying to justify my actions. I am sorry for causing you so much pain. I don’t want to live like a sadist anymore. Jovy leaving and the hell I have had to see in the past weeks, I don’t think I want to experience that again and most importantly I don’t want to lose my friend. You are more of a brother to me, Kyrian. I am sorry.”
Kyrian had a smirk on his face, never would he have imagined this sort of day to come again when Logan would come off his high horse and apologize. Jovy’s plot against him did bring him to the reality of life.
“If I forgive you what do I get in return?”
“Anything?” Logan said with a bit of hesitation.
“Make me french toast.”
Logan stared at him like someone who had grown four heads. “How can you ask me to do something that hard? Ask me to buy you a car instead.”
“I thought you had gone broke.”
“I do have my savings.”
Kyrian laughed heartily as he stood up from his chair and moved to stand in front of Logan. “I have wanted to get back to you so bad but I just couldn’t take the insults and disrespect any longer. I love you, Logan. You and Arlo are all I have got.” He pulled at his ear. “Well, except for my lady who would be part of the family soon.”
Logan grinned. “Oh, I see why you weren’t bothered about not talking to me. I thought you couldn’t live without me.”
“You thought wrong.” Kyrian mocked, stretching both of his arms initiating a hug. “Come here man.”
Logan felt his warmth wrap around him and he almost felt the urge to go confess everything in relation to him. “Thanks so much for this, Kyrian.”
Kyrian nodded, standing with his hand folded. “What do you need me to do?”
“First off, I did something really crazy weeks ago and I am going to become a father.”
“What?!” He had a shocked look on his face. “Who did you get pregnant and since when did you become comfortable with being a father?”
Logan shrugged. “Well, I miss Jovy and I realize I will have to compromise to bring her back to my life.”
Kyrian snickered. “You miss her but chose to knock somebody else up. Awesome.” He mumbled sarcastically.
A short laugh escaped his lips. “Actually, Jovy is the pregnant one and she needs both of our help.”
“Wow!” Kyrian exclaimed. He had wondered why Arlo suddenly said he would be out of town. He should have known something was up with Jovy. “How did you knock her up despite her engagement?”
Logan looked happy. “Well, I did it before their engagement which makes sense since they aren’t officially couples yet.”
“How do you get away with everything?”
“Lucky charm.” He boasted.
“Shut up!” Kyrian blurted. “Why does she need our help?”
“The Moon Stone was stolen by Xavier Hernan and he is nowhere near.”
“Well, I am not surprised. He sure does reek of desperation. How do we get to him? I am so in!” He blurted looking motivated.
Logan smacked his lips. “Come with me then.”
