Chapter 142 Sincere apologies
GOLD PACK
Logan and Kyrian didn’t arrive at the Gold Pack until noon the next day. Jovy was almost losing her mind as the day of the meeting drew nearer. It scared her that the Moon Stone and Xavier might never be found. Despite everyone assuring her that Logan would find the Moon Stone her mind was in turmoil. And when a maid came to inform her of their arrival, Jovy almost tripped on the stairs but had been held back by Arlo.
“Do you intend to kill your child?” He rebuked.
Jovy smiled shyly. “No, I’ll be careful.”
Logan’s eyes shone brightly at the sight of Jovy. Logan almost couldn’t hold back but he kept his cool.
“You found him?” Jovy inquired.
Logan nodded, looking towards Kyrian who had Xavier dragged out of the car booth. He looked terrible. “Yes, he was found hiding at the Southside.”
Everyone gasped. Nadia had a disappointed look on her face. “Xavier! Isn’t that the same place Marcel banned you from visiting? Why would you do this?” She was the most heartbroken cause her love for Xavier had always been immeasurable. However, he obviously doesn’t care about anyone but himself.
Beta Harry stepped forward. “It had always been said that the guardians of the stone were picked for a reason. Thank you so much, Alpha Logan for not ripping us of our lives. Thank you for saving us. Thank you Beta Kyrian, we are grateful.”
Kyrian smiled as his eyes met with Arlo. “You.”
Arlo shrugged with a sly grin. “It’s nice to see you again.”
Jovy who has been short of words at the sight of Xavier and Logan inhaled deeply. She had nothing to say to Xavier since all of his intention was known to her now. She called out to a guard. “Take him to the dungeon.” She ordered.
Beta Harry shook his head in disapproval. “Not so soon, Luna. You don’t have to worry about him, I will deal with him as deserved. The entire pack has to know what he has done. I will take him myself.” And with the help of two more guards, they pulled Xavier away while he begged for mercy.
Logan handed the Moon Stone to Jovy. “Here you go, Luna. Keep it safer this time.” He said not taking his eyes off her.
Jovy received it while avoiding an eye contact with him. “I will return this.” She mumbled.
Nadia cleared her throat. “Let’s go in everyone. It’s sunny out here.” She urged.
They all settled with a glass of chilled wine. Logan kept toying with his glass while anxiously waiting for Jovy to return. Anastasia exchanged a look with Alice. Getting an encouraging look she chose to break the awkward silence.
“So, Alpha Logan, I would expect you to take your leave from here since you have handed over the Moon Stone. Why are you still here?” She asked.
Kyrian gave Arlo a murderous look wondering what they all had under their sleeve to do to Logan. He could tell they all hate him.
Logan heaved a sigh. “I want to have a discussion with Jovy.”
“Is this about the condition you put her in?” Nadia inquired. “Shouldn’t you be a bit ashamed, Alpha Logan? After everything you have done to her, do you expect her to fall back into your arms just because you brought back the Moon stone? You do know not finding the stone would have been all of our loss but just more of a public disgrace on our part. Did you treat her the way you did because you thought she had no one to come to her defense?” She looked livid.
Kyrian stared pitifully at his friend. He was definitely going to get cooked to the ground before he gets an escape.
“And not just that, you made so much fuss over how she was never important to you, not to forget your insistence on not wanting a child plus you had the audacity to make a condition of being in hers and the child’s life. How do you intend to amend all the times you caused her pain?” Alice added.
“Not to forget leaving her to die while you attended to your businesses. How are they by the way?” Arlo snickered.
“Can you all please let him speak?” Kyrian spoke up, their words affected him just as it did to Logan. “He isn’t the way he is intentionally, it is just his haunting past-”
“Kyrian.” Logan stopped him. “Let me handle this.” He said, dropping the glass in his hand. He looked around the room at the angry stares boring holes into him. They obviously loved Jovy and wouldn’t hesitate to go against anybody for her sake.
“I am sorry.” He began. “I know it’s not justifiable since I am an adult. But I grew up in an hostile environment and I thought love and affection is just a disguise to take, destroy and make a fool of the one who shows love. My mother had been humiliated and murdered in cold blood by my father because she fell in love with him. I promised myself to never fall in love cause I didn’t want to be taken for a fool and I didn’t want to die by the hands of my lover. Overtime with such thoughts, I became cold and unresponsive to other people’s feelings.” A tear dropped down his face and he did nothing to wipe it off. “I am not saying Jovy should fall back into my arms right away. I just want her to know that I would wait till whenever she feels ready to be with me. I would do whatever it takes to make her love me back. My life doesn’t seem any meaningful without her in it. And I have finally learnt how important it is to have love in one’s life and having just the right people in one’s life is the most fulfilling thing ever. I also want to love and be loved. I want to be rid of my awful thoughts. And I am only here to amend my ways, please. I am pleading.”
Tears rolled down Jovy’s eyes as she stood by the stairs, she had never envisioned this sort of day coming. A day when Logan would admit to wanting her in his life. A day when he would act like someone with a heart. The room fell silent when the heard Jovy walk down the stairs.
She stood few feet away from Logan. “When did you realize it?”
He blinked, directly his gaze at her. “I realized it when you left.”
“He practically turned alcohol to his companion.” Kyrian added.
“Can you stay out of this please?” Arlo called out, making a face at his uncle to stay put and not interfere. Kyrian mouthed threats at him.
“What do you want from me?” Jovy questioned.
“A second chance.” He whispered.
“How do I do that?”
Logan stood up and walked up to her. “By finding it in your heart to forgive me.” He replied, falling to his knees which caused everyone to gasp out. “Please, Jovy, I would sprawl on the floor if you want me to but please give me another chance in your heart. I promise not to take advantage of it this time. Please.”
Jovy swallowed hard looking at the people around her and her eyes stayed glued to Nadia. Nadia smiled as she walked towards her. She held Jovy’s hands.
“Hey my darling, there is no rush to this. It’s obvious your heart wants him but still hasn’t healed from all of the pains he caused you which is understandable. However, we only saw your pain but we have no idea how much your heart craves. Do not be scared to take a leap. Just remember that no matter what happens, we would always be your family. You can cry to us and we won’t let go of you.”
Her friends stood up too including Anastasia. “We know what is in your heart. I promise, none of us is disappointed. It’s a matter of the heart and we can’t decide that for you. We can only be a shoulder to cry on.” Alice said.
Arlo grinned. “Follow your heart. I will still love you regardless.”
Jovy sobbed. “Really?” She mouthed.
“We promise.” They chorus hugging her tightly.
Logan remained on his knees after they departed with his eyes laden with heavy tears as they stared up at Jovy. “Please.” He whispered.
Taking a deep breath, Jovy stretched out her hand to pull him up. “I would think about it all because of our child. And I would like to take my time before deciding if I want to come back or not.”
Logan nodded with a smile. “I promise we would do it on your own terms.”
Jovy smiled brightly, she had never felt so extremely happy in her entire life like she is now. Her first love had returned. When Logan stretched out his arms she couldn’t resist walking into his embrace. He still smelled the same way she remembered. For the first time in forever, she felt Logan’s warmth around her and it was the best homely feeling ever.
