Chapter 138 It is gone
GOLD PACK
“Can you stop pacing, Xavier. You are making my head turn.” Savannah mumbled, attempting to calm him down.
Ever since the early hours of the morning that he had asked her to come around, she was worried someone might notice her since she only sneaks in at night. However, it turns out the Luna and his aunt weren’t around. Xavier was fuming so hard, he couldn’t still hold back the thought of Jovy playing him. All through the night he had been twisting and turning. He couldn’t stop thinking of what to do to liberate himself and ensure the Alpha seat becomes his.
Savannah stood up and made an attempt to massage his shoulder. “What’s the matter, baby? Why are you so worked up?”
He turned to face her. “She is seeing someone, Savannah. And now she has been avoiding me since the engagement.”
“Oh.” Savannah mused as she returned to her sitting position. “I didn’t know that was what had you bothered.”
Xavier scoffed. “Are you really reacting jealously now? Do you think this is what we both need right now when all of our future plans is going into wreck?”
Her ears perked up at that. “What are you talking about?”
“I think Jovy doesn’t want to be with me anymore. She already has a mate and from the conversation she has been marked.” He explained briefly.
“What the hell?! How dare that bitch! I should have known she was too good to be true. What do you plan on doing now? It’s obvious you can’t be with someone who has been marked.” Savannah’s last words sank into Xavier’s brain.
He almost didn’t realize the extremity of Jovy choosing someone else over him to rule. Xavier let out a string of curses as he kicked at the hard floor.
“I need to act fast, there should be a way to bring all of this to a halt and make a demand.” He mused to himself. They both stayed quiet trying to think of a way out until a devious smile appeared on Xavier’s face. “I will be right back, stay here.” He gave Savannah a warning glare.
Xavier could only hope her room would be opened. If he gets his hand on the Moon Stone, Jovy would have no choice but to eat out of his palm. Looking thoroughly at the hallway, Xavier opened the door and to his delight it gave in. Locking the door behind him, he hurried towards her closet where the safe she kept the Moon Stone was in. As much as they had grown closer overtime, Jovy was careful enough to not giveaway the code to the Moon Stone safe or discuss on anything in relation to it. Kneeling in front of it, Xavier tried to steady his shaky breath as he was nervous no doubt.
Staring at the number pads, he felt relieved that he had somehow focused on the movement of her hand the other day. He never would have thought this kind of day would come. He hoped to the Moon Goddess that his eyes had saw right. Xavier punched in what he thinks would be the password to the safe and he shut his eyes tightly hoping he wasn’t wrong.
Xavier gasped out when the safe opened up. Even though he saw her click the keypads secretly, he wasn’t exactly sure it will work. His eyes glazed at the sight of the shiny Moon Stone sitting in all of its glory. Xavier inhaled deeply as he brought it out of the safe. It wasn’t much of a big stone and can be pocketed into a trouser. The Moon Stone looks more like a diamond stone but isn’t diamond. It is a rare stone carved by the Moon Goddess herself. It is her gift to the werewolf race.
Xavier dipped it in the pocket of the short trouser he had on and he made his way out of the room. He was lucky no one was in the hallway. When he entered the room Savannah ran towards him, she was almost losing her mind.
“Did you see anything?” She asked.
“Grab my bag, Savannah. We are leaving right this minute.” He said.
“Why? Where are we going?”
He gulped. “Listen baby, I have the Moon Stone with me.” She gasped in shock. “Don’t call me crazy but this is the only chance for me to exploit to get what I want. If Jovy finds out I took it, she would have no choice but to give in to my demand. No need to question me any further. We need to leave now.”
Not hesitating a bit longer, Savannah helped him pack in a hurry. Ensuring to pack as light as they can to prevent any of the pack house maids from suspecting them, Xavier and Savannah got into the car and drove out of the pack house.
****************
Jovy inhaled sharply as her ankle almost got sprained on her way to her room. She had decided to finish up at work earlier than expected, finally coming to a resolve on what she intends to do with Logan. She would strike him where it is hot and his life would come to an abrupt halt. The mere thought of it made her feel more confident and she decided it would be nice to have an apology filled conversation with Xavier.
Leaning into her bed, she dialed his contact but it wasn’t reachable. Pouting to herself, she sighed feeling bored. Her eyes went to her phone screen, it had been so long since she heard from Arlo which was unlikely of him. He never misses a week without calling her at least two to three times.
Tapping on his contact, she bit hard on her lips when the phone rang and he didn’t pick until the third ring.
‘So, you chose to ignore me just because I am moving on with my love life?’ She bellowed into the receiver.
Arlo hummed. ‘Are you trying to nag me?’
‘Arlo!’ She whined. ‘Why would you just ignore me for weeks? How do you cope with not talking to me?’
‘By reminding myself that I am doing the right thing letting you know how wrong you are marrying someone looking that devious.’
‘Are you still mad about my supposed marriage?’
‘Amelia told me you have gotten engaged.’
Jovy exhaled. ‘Yes. You do know this isn’t about me alone but for the future of the pack.’
‘How about your life then? Will the pack members spend the rest of their lives living behind closed doors with him?’
‘You haven’t even had any discussion with him before. How can you be so sure he is bad?’
‘I felt it deep in my guts. Just like I felt it that you were worth vying for.’
Jovy stayed quiet, uncertain as to what she should say. She felt the urge to tell him about the mess she got herself into but then he would only be more disappointed in her. And the thought of it scared Jovy a lot.
‘I understand your point, Arlo. But it’s all done now.’
Arlo breathed loudly on the other end. ‘Listen Jovy, I have no intention to be rude to you but I am only trying to look out for you..’
She sniffed. ‘Yes, I know. And I truly appreciate it.’
They talked randomly on their daily lives while laughing at each other. Jovy felt lighter by the time sleep evaded her. She was woken up by a loud knock on the door. Opening her eyes, she tried to adjust it to the light coming in through the window. She had forgotten to draw the curtain before going to bed.
Putting on her robe, she opened the door and a maid stood there with her head bowed. “What time is it?” Jovy asked.
“It’s past nine, Luna. Beta Harry is waiting downstairs for you.” She said.
“I must have slept for a long while.” Jovy muttered to herself. “Alright, make him comfortable I will be down soon.”
Getting herself cleaned up in a rush, she dressed casually and went downstairs. Beta Harry appeared restless where he sat. He jolted up from the couch the moment he noticed her.
“Good morning, Luna.” He greeted.
Jovy smiled. “Good morning, Beta Harry. To what do I owe this visit?”
“I just need to ask you something real quick. And I would like you to do me a favor, can you show me the Moon Stone please.” Beta Harry pulled his lower lip with the hope that Jovy wouldn’t think he has an ulterior motive.
Jovy shrugged. “Sure. Please wait for me in the study.” She requested.
“Alright.”
Jovy ran back to her room. She pressed the code into the safe. She stared in disbelief at the empty state of the safe. She rubbed her eyes constantly again to be sure her eyes wasn’t deceiving her. She ran downstairs and opened the door to the study forcefully.
She panted breathlessly. “The Moon Stone, It’s gone!”
