Chapter 128 Establishing the feelings
GOLD PACK
‘Can you get serious right now, Arlo.’ Jovy laughed into the phone speaker. ‘I am really not joking.’
‘What did that witch called Alice advise you to do?’ Arlo responded on the other line. ‘This doesn’t sound like you Jovy. Are you sure about this? You really want to do this?’
‘Listen, Alice did come up with the idea…yes…but following it up is my decision. I need to make him pay in the most unexpected ways. And I can only get to do it when I know just about enough of him. I can’t let him go just like that, my life is better now and I have a man who seem to be really into me for real this time.’ She grinned at the thought of Xavier.
Jovy had been worried about him drifting away but it turns out he was only saddled with finishing up a project due to the close deadline. The first thing he did as soon as he had returned three nights ago was buy her a bouquet of roses and the most beautiful pair of earrings and necklace she has ever owned. Xavier was definitely worth taking a chance on.
Arlo snort into her ear. ‘I take it that Alpha Logan has been awful but I tell it to you that Xavier would do worse with the way he appears. I can assure you of that.’
Jovy rolled her eyes. ‘I think Anastasia is beginning to rub off on you. You sound like her right now. Before we go off topic, Arlo, I need every information I can get on all the things he owns and controls. I know you can do that for me, please.’
‘I don’t know…but I will try. Don’t hold me up on it though just incase I don’t turn up.’
‘I don’t doubt you would and you had better not!’ She warned in a playful tone.
He chuckled. ‘Aye Luna, noted.’
A big smile plastered to her face after dropping the call. Picking up the intercom, she dialed Rebecca. ‘In my office, please.’ She said.
Rebecca was in front of her in less than a minute. “You called me ma’am.”
“Please sit.” Jovy motioned towards the chair. After Rebecca had settled, Jovy cleared her throat. “I need you to carry out some major assignments for me, Rebecca. However, I only have a single task for you at the moment. I am hoping we would work towards the rest as time goes on.”
“Alright.” Rebecca mused.
“When is the next shareholders meeting for Hilton Hotel and Restaurant?”
“Should be in three weeks time, ma’am.”
Jovy did a quick calculation in her head, Arlo should have gotten just about enough information about Logan’s private properties. If she would hit him, she has to start with the less suspecting ones. With the help of Anastasia, she had been able to have a clear plan on her mode of attack on her past tormentor. She would have Logan shaken to his depth.
“Can you find out something for me? I need to know of every company Logan Odell might be investing in.”
Rebecca had a confused look on her face. “What do you mean, ma’am?”
Jovy raised a brow. “I sure wasn’t speaking Chinese, Rebecca. Provide me a list of all of the companies Logan Odell has an investment in and then we start from there. You can go back to work.”
She felt a different sort of energy flow through her and this new side of hers seems fun. Logan would have the best shock of his life from her. A light knock came from behind the door, she looked up to find Xavier’s head popping out from the small opening.
“Hello there, Luna. Would you like to grab a fancy lunch?” He asked in his sultry voice that makes Jovy’s belly act up.
Her tongue instinctively licked at her lower lip and she sighed in relief. “I really don’t mind.”
At her response, Xavier opened the door appropriately, walked up to her and stretched forth his hand. “How about you honor me with your presence then.” He grinned.
Jovy laughed sweetly as she grabbed her bag and jacket. Xavier had called for a reserve in a not so luxurious restaurant. However, there was a homely feeling to it. Jovy could sense the restaurant would do far better if they get a potential investor. The customer service was topnotch and they came in large numbers despite being in a private booth. She could tell how much they get patronized and she made a mental note in her head to send Rebecca over. The diversion of shares from Logan’s restaurant and hotel would help boost the restaurant she is in. Eventually a win for two and loss for one.
“I thought you might like the homely and cozy feeling. I would have taken you to a more fancy space but I thought you might want to enjoy your lunch without having to bother about the press or members of the pack coming at you.” Xavier explained.
Jovy chuckled lightly. “You don’t need to apologize. I love the ambience and might have to keep coming back from now on.”
“I’m glad you do.” They ordered their meals and settled down to eat. Xavier kept his gaze transfixed on her as he ate distracted. “Your beauty is mesmerizing. Have I ever mentioned that to you?”
Jovy blushed hard. “Yes, this is like the thousandth time. And when you stare at me like that you make me shy.”
Xavier smiled softly. “I will tell you one truth right now, Jovy. When aunt Nadia suggested marriage between the both of us, I had thought she was crazy to think I would be into you when we haven’t known each other. But I find myself falling for you everyday, not only are you beautiful but you are smart too. You handle things like you have been here before. I don’t care about becoming Alpha, as long as I get to spend time with you every time then I am fine.” He reached for her hand to caress it. “I know it might take sometime for you to feel the same way for me but there is no need to rush. I can always wait. I intentionally didn’t want to force a relationship between us and if that would require waiting for as long as you want. I don’t mind being patient.”
“I won’t deny that I feel the same way, Xavier. I was worried it would be just a random arranged marriage and I would be subjected to trying hard to love you. However, it’s a different thing entirely when I see you. I want us to work for real.” Jovy admitted. The courage she possessed surprised her cause she had never been so bold to express herself. Also it was a good idea that she didn’t tell Nadia or Xavier about her past relationship. There was no doubt it would have gotten in the way of her new found affection.
Xavier had a childish grin on his face. “I didn’t think you would match my affection but I am really grateful for that. Thank you, Jovy.”
She laughed lightly. “Were you scared of being rejected?”
Xavier shook in head in confirmation. “I can’t deny that.” He replied.
Her eyes fell on his lips and Jovy found herself drifting towards him slowly until their lips met. It was until she moaned that it occurred to her what she was doing.
“I’m sorry.” She mumbled, jerking away from him.
Xavier looked confused. “Why do you have to be sorry? I thought we already established our feelings.”
Jovy scratched the back of her hair. “I just didn’t want to appear needy.”
“Well you can call me a needy person because I want to kiss you so bad.” Xavier didn’t wait for her to respond before pulling her in for a kiss.
Freeing herself, Jovy pulled at his hair lightly to deepen the kiss and her toes curled at the effect of his touch on her. They stopped kissing when a waitress came to refill their glasses.
“Thank you.” Xavier mused, placing a wet kiss on her hand.
Jovy blew hard at her sweaty hands. There was no denying it that she was smitten by Xavier.
