Chapter 126 Does he really love her?
MYSTIC SHADOWS FORTRESS
Pouring himself a full glass of tequila, Logan swallowed it and shut his eyes tightly at the effect of the hard liquor. He exhaled, leaning further into the chair to stare blankly at the wall. Nothing seem to appease him much lately. He had thought Jovy leaving was going to be a big relief for him. However, he had thought wrongly. Logan almost didn’t know the essence of her presence until she left and his already lonely home start appearing deserted to him.
He hated how much effect she has on him, to make matters worse he had looked for her almost everywhere and can’t find her. There was no way he would ask Arlo cause the boy would have a good time making a joke of him. To keep his mind away from her, Logan had indulged in sleeping with more women than he could remember but still none of them matched Jovy. It made him hate himself and Jovy more and he blamed his wolf for shamelessly yearning for her.
Sleep was beginning to make his eyelids heavy when the door opened. Kyrian made his way in looking somewhat pleased. Logan let out a slow hiss as he didn’t expect Kyrian to be back so quickly. He had gone on his behalf to attend the rare coming together of all of the Alphas of the wolf packs to handover the Moon Stone to the wolf pack that would be in charge of it for another century.
Logan being one of the assigned protectors for the stone, whether his pack would hold on to it or not, it was his generations duty to be on the look out of the stone with the pack it gets assigned to and also ensure it gets delivered to the next pack safely. However, because of his awful mood he had sent Kyrian instead and mostly because he was on more good terms with the other pack Alphas. Alpha Marcel of Gold pack has been one of his best investors over the years. They could always meet up later to discuss on ways to protect the stone from any prying eyes.
“Did you know about Alpha Marcel’s passing?” Kyrian inquired as he settled down.
Logan raised a brow. “He is dead?”
“Yes and he died about four and a half months ago. How are you oblivious to that?”
Logan sat up abruptly. “I didn’t know and no one informed me. I guess Xavier has taken his place then.”
Kyrian chuckled. “You would be shocked to hear this.”
“What is it?” Logan asked.
“Marcel has a daughter and she is the new Luna. I had been anticipating to see her but turns out Beta Harry was the one who came on her behalf. I heard she is quite a beauty to behold.”
“Xavier must be quite heartbroken.”
“From the rumors flying, Xavier would get married to her which automatically makes him the Alpha.”
“I don’t know when you started listening to rumors but if that is the case then, it is a fair deal for him. Xavier has served Marcel well all through his life so he deserves a share of the pack.”
“And Marcel had been the kindest to him, he would be crazy to think otherwise.”
“Yeah.” Logan mused absentmindedly.
Kyrian watched him pour himself another filled glass of the liquor. Logan had been a shadow of himself for the past months. In the first month Jovy had left, he had acted unbothered, going about his business and getting himself pleasured by different types of women. However, the pain couldn’t seem to be hidden for too long. Kyrian couldn’t help but notice how Logan thins out everyday because of his lost love. Even though he would never admit it, Logan loves Jovy beyond his control which is why he feels more affected.
“Why do you keep drowning yourself in alcohol like it’s your new found love?” Kyrian inquired.
Logan clicked his teeth. “I will do whatever I choose to do. How is that any of your business?”
“Why do you keep denying your feelings? Do you think I don’t know you have been frantically searching for Jovy and wondering where she might be. At this point, won’t you just wallow your ego and ask Arlo already?”
“I don’t know where you got the stupid talks from but I am not interested in finding her. Her presence only had me on the edge. Why do you think I would want such person back in my life?”
Kyrian scoffed. “You know within yourself she wouldn’t return to you. It had taken Jovy a whole lot to finally come to that decision. There is no way she would be stupid enough to return just because you went in search for her. And you know quite alright that is the case and it kills your ego so much.”
“It’s how much you think you know because I call you a friend. Stop meddling in my business.” He warned.
Kyrian inhaled as he raised both of his hands in surrender. “I hope it doesn’t get too late before you realize how much hurt you are causing yourself. It’s bad enough that you are wallowing in self pity and drinking yourself to stupor.”
Logan let out a snort. “That’s like the most stupid thing I have ever heard, are you listening to yourself right now?”
“How about you also have a look at yourself in the mirror. That would prove the both of us either wrong or right, don’t you think?” Kyrian retorted as he walked out of the office.
Cursing under his breath, Logan stood up to check himself with his phone camera and to say he looked haggard is an understatement. His eye bags were enough for anyone on pills to swallow with how they are shaped. He sighed, feeling anger work its way up his throat, throwing the phone back on the table Logan punched the table hard. If he ever gets his hands on Jovy, she would regret ever thinking to mess around with his intelligence.
Kyrian cringed at the noise that came in from the office. He knew Logan would react in a violent way. He heaved a sigh as he continued towards his office. It was his own turn to throw a chair when he found Arlo sitting comfortably in his chair with his legs stretched out on the table.
“You have got some guts to sit relaxed in a Beta’s chair like that.” He said, hiding the grin threatening to show itself on his lips.
Arlo had a mischievous look in his eyes. “I’m trying to get used to the seat since I might be taking over soon.”
“Do you have plans to get rid of me?”
“Nah, the troubles on your hands is enough to pull you into the grave before your time.”
Kyrian raised a stern brow. “Watch your mouth, he is the Alpha and not just that my friend.”
Arlo snorted. “No one says he isn’t neither is it said that you need to die for him. It’s just a shameful thing to see. I caught a glimpse of him today and he didn’t look any fun, almost like someone who could really use a spa session and some sleep.”
“How about you treat him to that?”
Arlo chuckled deviously. “He doesn’t deserve it.”
“Why are you being so cold? You are acting like the exact person you claim to be against.”
“Don’t guilt trip me into who I am not, don’t do that.” Arlo glared.
Kyrian rolled his eyes as he pulled a chair to sit in. “What do you think you are doing? Why won’t you tell me where Jovy is?”
Arlo sat up properly. “Oh, really? I should tell you and you end up telling your best friend who will end up going after her and halting the peaceful life she is trying to live? Never! Not in this life.”
“You know I wouldn’t.”
“Oh yes you would, you care so much about him that you forget about other people’s feelings. He can keep crying for all I care, he won’t hear a word from me.” Arlo said with finality in his tone. It would be over his dead body before his uncle and Alpha would hear anything in relation to Jovy from him. He stood up from the chair and before Kyrian could call him back, Arlo had shut the door in his face.
