Chapter 125 Who is Xavier?
GOLD PACK
Xavier seethed his teeth as he pulled at his tie. He kicked at the rug almost falling flat on his face. He hated everyone around here and he wished there was a certain way he could get back at everyone for looking down on him. The more he replayed the words in his head, the more his hatred for Beta Harry went on a spur.
For some reason he had planted a recorder in the CEO’s office after he heard about Marcel’s sudden heir. Being the untrusting person he is, Xavier didn’t trust Jovy’s nice act. His intention to become Alpha needs to be fulfilled and he craves for it more now that he knows none of the pact council members trust him enough. It makes him boil hard.
All that he has to do now is pull Jovy closer to him and make her head over heels in love with him. He felt used hearing the recording only two days later after following Jovy around like a lost puppy and running every errand she sent him on. He had almost trusted that she wouldn’t listen to Harry considering how much she melts in his presence. To his disappointment, when he asked her if the Beta had mentioned anything to her, Jovy had looked him straight in the eyes and denied having any important conversation. When he becomes Alpha and they get mated, he would make her pay for lying to him.
Growling like a bull, he went towards his fridge to grab a bottle of whatever hard drink he can find. All he saw was a row of white sweet wine.
“What the fuck!” He bellowed angrily, snatching one of the bottles and he threw it angrily at the wall with all of his strength.
The door burst open and an angry looking Savannah stormed into the room. Slamming the door close, the hinges luckily stayed still because of how strong and expensive the door was.
“Xa-” She attempted to call him out but he cut her short with a hard glare.
“Did you change all of the wines in my fridge?” He asked in a low tone.
Savannah shrugged nonchalantly. “You have been having too much to drink lately and I thought that was the best thing to do to keep you on the right track.”
If Xavier wasn’t so in love with her, he would have definitely rammed her head against the wall and warn her to never in her entire miserable life mess with his things again. To his surprise the anger wasn’t exactly there anymore. Cursing under his breath, he sat on the edge of the bed and took off his clothes in a hurry.
Seeing it was her time to take a dive, Savannah stood with her arms folded against her chest tapping her legs angrily. “What is this news about you following the Luna around like a lost puppy?”
Xavier knew it wouldn’t take too much time for anyone to spread the news. He was once the lord
over the dogs but now nothing more than an underdog. It didn’t bother him still knowing what he is aiming for.
“People will say whatever it is they want, I don’t care.” He replied.
She hissed. “Just so you know, I do care and it matters to me that you don’t feel bothered about what any of this does to me. All I have ever done was care about you and you prefer enslaving yourself for a lost girl like herself!”
“Don’t you dare talk about her like that!” Xavier warned. “She is ten times your worth.” He muttered under his breath.
Savannah didn’t cease to hear him and she took out her time to give him a deserving slap on the face. “Fuck you! I am worth a hundred of anyone. Not even the said Luna comes close.” And with that she went back out with the same energy she used to come in.
Shutting his eyes tightly, Xavier rubbed at his cheeks feeling awake by the sudden hit. Savannah’s slim hands had left a robust mark on his soft face. He headed to the bathroom to have a cold shower. It made him feel a bit better. He wore a nice comfy trouser and shirt. Xavier grabbed his car keys and exited the room.
A growl escaped his lips when he bumped into Anastasia. “Can today be any worse?”
If Anastasia wasn’t so hell bent on making him a laughing stock he would have been on more cool terms with her. But as it is she enjoys making him feel miserable just like Beta Harry.
Anastasia had a smug look on her face. “Did you read the news?”
He raised a defiant brow. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh, you do own a phone don’t you? I really can’t wait for the world to see who you are exactly. Karma is a bitch after all.” She said before walking away.
Xavier seethed hard when he got to his car. His feud with Anastasia wouldn’t have gone too deep if Savannah didn’t act like her usual spiteful self. He had been sneaking around with Savannah for quite sometime without anyone knowing. He and Anastasia had always been on good terms and somewhat close. Xavier knew how she felt about him but since she also didn’t take any action, he also didn’t try to take advantage of her vulnerability.
However, he had to use her as a possible pawn when he had eavesdropped on Marcel talking to Harry about taking Xavier’s name out of the will because of the rumor that was going around about his relationship with the witch child; Savannah. To keep his seat, he had used Anastasia and made her think he wanted her too. She fell deeply in love with him which irked Savannah.
They had been arguing not so loudly behind the pack house close to the woods one dark night, unfortunately Anastasia had been returning from a run in the woods. Xavier had been worried she would tell his secret but nothing ever came. However, she never ceased to show her distaste for him. It didn’t worry him much but things have changed since the time and he is more preoccupied with saving himself from becoming a forgotten pauper.
His eyes darted to the side of the car when Jovy knocked hard on his window. He opened the door while she got in giving him a weird look. He was surprised to see her in a large black hoodie with black trousers and only her sneakers appears white.
“Is everything okay, Luna?” He inquired.
Jovy swallowed. “I’m sorry those horrible things were written about you.”
Xavier looked lost for a minute before he reminded himself of Anastasia’s words. “It’s all good, people write unnecessary things in the tabloid everyday. It’s a pass time for them.”
Leaning into the chair, Jovy exhaled. “Where are you headed?”
“I just thought to have some shots before retiring for the day.”
“Do you mind if I join you?”
Her request surprised Xavier. “Are you sure?”
“Don’t I look dressed enough for the occasion?”
Xavier grinned as he ignited the car. “I think I know a just place where we can be as discreet as we want.”
“Wherever your soul leads please.” She smiled, glad to live a little.
