Chapter 124 The Moon Stone
GOLD PACK
Fun was an understatement to the wonderful time Jovy got to spend with her friends. They made her first few days as a Luna adaptable. Anastasia most especially ensured to put in her very best in making her comfortable.
Jovy had felt downcast when they left but she was consoled with Anastasia’s presence. It didn’t take her much time to adjust to the activities concerning the pack. Since Nadia couldn’t offer much help, Xavier and Beta Harry ensured to guide her every step of the way. It felt surreal when everyone around the pack, the members not excluding the pack council members acted nice towards her. Jovy would have never thought there was a life outside cruelty and there are people who are kind hearted.
She felt at peace and didn’t need to think about Logan much. However, Alice and Anastasia made it a point of duty to remind her of how much she needs to get back at him. They pestered her to let him have a taste of his own medicine. All he had ever done was toss her around because he feels he has the power to do so. Still, Jovy doesn’t see herself as someone keen on revenging against anyone. However, the insistence of both ladies was beginning to resonate in her thoughts and she found herself harboring the thought.
Governing the pack was easy, her father had set the foundation so well there is little to worry about. She was seated in her room getting ready to head down to her father’s company which is majorly an investment group. Turns out before he became the Alpha, he had taken interest in investment which includes Real Estate and the Hospitality business. Most of the Five Star Hotels and prestigious restaurants in neighboring packs and within, the late Gold pack Alpha was a major shareholder.
Jovy was to oversee everything since she has been willed almost everything that belonged to her father. The company which he had worked so hard to build had Jovy feeling privileged to be trusted with such amount of asset. It prompted her to become better. And with the help of Arlo and Anastasia, she had began to take business management classes and other ones in relation to investing.
When she stepped out, Xavier was waiting by the foot of the stairs and his breath hitched at the sight of her. Even though she wasn’t exactly wearing anything flashy but the off-white suit and pant trouser coupled with the nude opened high heel and her hair packed in a ponytail made her look extremely beautiful. No doubt she would pass as royalty anywhere she enters. He was taken aback at the gait in which she moved with.
Seeing Xavier, Jovy tried as much as she could to hide her nervousness. As Beta Harry had warned her, she shouldn’t be seen as weak or penetrable cause people suck on such flaw and make the person miserable. She had nothing against Xavier and could be a nervous wreck in front of him all because he had proven to be someone she could count on. But if she wants to get through the hurdles of brutal werewolves with her latent wolf a bit of confident has to radiate around her.
“I can’t help but say this, you look breathtaking.” Xavier wheezed, kissing the back of her palm.
Jovy blushed hard. “Thank you. I just thought to look my best for the day.” She did a mental thank you to Anastasia for choosing her attire. She couldn’t see her wear it because of the dental appointment her twins had.
“You look amazing and I am sure they would all fall flat to your feet.” He grinned.
“Let’s go then.” She mused.
Xavier moved around with her like her right hand man. According to Nadia, having him around will enable the feelings to grow and Jovy couldn’t deny the attraction she was beginning to feel towards him. He was too sweet beyond words.
The introduction to the company’s staff didn’t take too much time. Jovy found all of them interesting and welcoming. After getting settled in her office, she decided to call onto her father’s personal secretary who had every details concerning his activities in hand. Xavier had gone to represent her in a shareholder meeting.
Rebecca, her father’s former secretary is a woman in her early fifties but Jovy wasn’t too sure if she had been correct with the guess. But there was no doubt she is just as old and experienced as one can imagine which is the kind of person Jovy needs by her side.
“Hello, Luna. You asked to see me.” She said by the door.
Jovy gestured for her to come in and take a seat. “I am so sorry to bother you, Rebecca.”
She waved in a hurry. “This is no bother at all Luna. I am always at your service. What do you need me to do?”
“First, I am thinking you would need to get an assistant.” Jovy muttered noticing the tired lines under her eye-bags
Rebecca panicked. “Did I do something wrong? I am very active. I promise, I would do whatever you ask me to. Please, I have four children to look after. Don’t render me useless please.” She uttered.
Jovy smiled lightly. “Calm down Rebecca. I am not firing you. I have checked the profile of every worker in the entire company and had to study it for a week. Each person’s capability and performance stated clearly. I realize you do much work. Listen, you aren’t going to be rendered useless and neither would you be short of your monthly pay. But I want you to get enough rest and that includes paying more attention to your health. My aunt told me of how much you have to do, especially to keep your children afloat. So please get an assistant who would do the running around and all you have to do is focus on the documentations and lay your experience and long-term advises on me.”
A tear dropped down Rebecca’s face. Rebecca had thought Marcel was overtly nice and considerate, she didn’t expect his daughter to be more considerate and generous than her father. “I don’t know how to thank you enough for this. I am so grateful, I would work on setting sine number or interviews and let you on it.”
“There is no need to involve me, the person would be under you which makes you the decision maker. All you have to do is introduce the person to me, recruitment should be between you and the human resource department.”
“Thank you so much, Luna.”
“You are welcome, Rebecca. That is all I intend to tell you. Also please I need the details of every company we are investing in. I need to get myself familiar with them all.”
“I will send it to your mail right away.”
Turning around in the chair, Jovy almost howled in delight. She didn’t expect herself to adjust so easily and she had thought sitting in her father’s chair would make her uncomfortable. Instead it felt like she has always been here. She was made for this life.
“Thank you.” She whispered into the space. Hoping her father was fulfilled wherever he was. She jolted out of her thought when someone knocked on the office door. She turned around to see Beta Harry beaming at her. “Beta.” She mumbled standing up.
“Luna, you shouldn’t stand at my arrival. That is what is expected of me.” He said, urging her to take a seat. He pulled out a chair after her.
“I am surprised you came here. Is that everything alright?” Jovy inquired, feeling worried.
“It’s all good. I have a good news to share.”
“Why did you have to come all the way here? We could have discussed it at the pack house.”
“Yes, it’s good news. But then it’s something you are to keep to yourself as it is. Only the Alpha and Beta are to know about it. Your father had fantasized on the day he would touch it but as fate would have it, you his daughter is fortunate enough to receive it. I am more rest assured now that your reign will bring us more peace of mind and prosperity.”
“Thanks for having that much hope in me. I hope I don’t end up disappointing you.”
“I am certain you wouldn’t. There is something that conjoins the entire werewolves packs, it is a Moon Stone that connects us to the Moon Goddess. It serves as a linking point between the wolves and the Moon Goddess. For each century, a wolf pack is given the Moon Stone to look after. It is our turn to safeguard the Moon Stone. And it is very important to your reign as the Luna of our time because the entire life of every wolf is in your hands. And if anything goes wrong with it, everyone will be in danger. It’s almost like a lifeline for us all. However, keeping it safe and right would be most advantageous to us, the packs and everyone in general.”
“Wow.” Jovy mumbled, already feeling an extra wave of herself getting overwhelmed.
Beta Harry noticed her discomfort. “Don’t fret my dear Luna. All that you need to do is keep it safe, nothing else. It would be passed on to the pack next in line when it’s time.”
She felt more relaxed at the clarification. “That sounds better.”
“They called to inform me it would be handed over this weekend in a meeting involving all of the Alphas of the entire wolf packs to present it to you.” He noticed her reluctance. Harry chuckled, “I understand that seems like too much pressure. I would go on your behalf then but after it arrives how it is safeguarded is all up to you.”
She nodded with a wide grin. “I can work with that.”
“Good to know. I have to go attend to my assigned duty. See you soon.” He bowed lightly. With his hand on the door knob he turned to her. “Jovy, please for the sake of yours and every other person’s safety, don’t tell anyone else about the stone.”
Jovy raised a brow. “Including my family?”
“Yes, especially Xavier.” He stated with a hard look before walking away.
Leaning into the chair, Jovy licked her dry lips wondering why Harry suddenly looked distant when he mentioned Xavier. She would never understand his and Anastasia’s beef with Xavier. Taking a deep breath, she held onto the mouse and opened the email Rebecca had sent to her.
