Chapter 123 Luna Jovy Brown
GOLD PACK
A WEEK LATER
Jovy’s eyes lingered on the door way, all through her coronation and introduction to the members of Gold pack as their Luna, she had expected to see her friends pop up to surprise her. However, she was more disappointed when everybody had dispersed and there were no visitors that came for her.
She leaned back into the foyer chair that she sat on and she let sleep evade her.
For three straight days she had been deprived of sleep all because she was preparing to be officially declared as Luna. Nothing prepared her for the continuous meeting with the pack council and major heads in the pack. She has a lot to learn obviously but would rather do so after her only remaining family and friends have arrived.
She had not gone deep into the sleep when the door bursted open giving way to Anastasia. She had gone out to get her children some pizza and whatnot. Due to the occasion the road were so jammed together and no delivery could have reached just in time. To make it easy, she had made the order and headed down to the place instead. The twins had a specific pizza they wanted to eat and refused eating the one made by the pack house chefs. The perks of being a child with stinkingly rich parents.
What Jovy wasn’t expecting to see was Arlo, Alice and Amelia trolling in behind her. Immediately she jumped up and ran towards them hugging all of them to herself. They chuckled and giggled against each other’s embrace.
“All hail the Luna!” Arlo called out.
“All hail the Luna!” Amelia and Alice repeated with their head slightly bowed.
“Oh, my goodness! I thought you all wouldn’t come.”
Arlo grinned. “You know there is no way we wouldn’t be here for you when you needed us the most.”
“Did you all walk in together with Anastasia?” Jovy inquired.
“She was the one who helped us navigate our way down here. I didn’t know this place is this big, we got lost three times.” Alice groaned, slumping into the nearest chair.
“How come?” Jovy asked.
“I saw them at the pizza shop, asking how to get to the pack house. Due to the event, the roads being jumbled can confuse a stranger. It’s so nice meeting you all. I would see you at dinner, I need to get this across to my kids.” Anastasia said with a smile before running off.
When she left the friends squealed again, hugging themselves. “You know what, enough of this place. Let me take you all in.”
Amelia gasped in awe. “When Arlo had mentioned it that this space is pure luxury I thought he was joking.”
“I told you it’s real.” Arlo said.
“I am definitely spending the rest of my life here.” Alice added.
“Wait till you see the room.” Jovy muttered, running through the stairs excitedly. The three of them gave different excitement noise the moment she opened the door. They didn’t hold themselves back and jumped on the bed. “Easy, don’t end up falling off.” She warned playfully.
“Come, come. Tell us everything, especially about Xavier!” Alice drawled on the name.
Jovy smiled shyly as she settled with them on the bed. The bed was big enough to contain eight people sitting and it looked like a mini camping. Jovy was glad she had asked if her friends could come around and she had gotten a positive response.
As for Xavier, she couldn’t help herself not to talk about him to them. He has been showing up and helping her with little things and she realized Nadia had been right about his caring attitude. Even though Anastasia is always displeased when she sees them together but there is only little she can do in interfering.
“He is okay. I will say we are getting along just well.” Jovy responded.
“Arrgggghhhh!!” Alice groaned, “I can’t believe you are keeping stuffs away from us.”
Arlo sniffed. “She has no choice, she would tell us eventually.” A knock came from behind the door. “Come in!” He yelled out without thinking of who it might be.
Anastasia peeped into the room. “I hope I am not interrupting anything? I just thought to join you guys.”
“Please come, come.” Alice ushered her in.
Jovy grinned at her. “I was still thinking it would be nice to have you around. So, guys this is Anastasia my cousin. Meet Arlo, Alice and Amelia.”
They exchanged pleasantries grinning from ear to ear. “It’s so nice to meet you all finally. Jovy can’t stop talking about you.”
“She has to, no other choice.” Alice noted.
“Jovy, thinking about it, I really can’t wait to see how that awful Alpha Logan would react to you becoming a Luna.” Amelia said.
Arlo chuckled. “His reaction would be epic.”
Jovy shifted uncomfortably. “Do we have to mention his name?”
“Aren’t you over him yet?” Alice inquired.
She shrugged. “It’s not that. I don’t think it’s necessary to discuss him.”
“Does Anastasia know about how awful he treated you?” Alice asked.
Anastasia shook her head. “She didn’t give much details but from the look of things it’s obvious he did her dirty.”
“Can you all stop talking about this already, please. You act like I am not here.” Jovy mumbled feeling tired already.
“Jovy, Alpha Logan should be someone you detest. He doesn’t deserve any mercy.” Arlo said with spite.
“You know you could really teach him a lesson now that you are a woman of power.” Anastasia noted.
Jovy’s three friends sat up almost immediately. “Really?!” They echoed.
“She could do that?” Amelia asked.
Anastasia nodded. “Yes, she can. All you need to do is find a weakness of his. You have just about enough money and power to control whomever you want.”
“I will love to see how this plays out ” Arlo grinned.
Jovy exhaled, having enough of their continuous bicker. “How about you all head to your rooms. I have had enough for the night and I am tired.” They all stared mouth agape at her. She raised her voice. “Can you all excuse me now?”
“Fine, fine!” Arlo mused.
“Bye Luna.”
“See you later Luna.”
They teased her with the word Luna while pulling at her hair and ear before heading out.
Jovy collapsed into the bed letting the silence envelope her. Tucking herself under the duvet she tried to get some sleep but instead she felt restless. Getting off the bed, Jovy walked towards the mini fridge to get water and even after almost chugging down half of the content she still didn’t feel too good.
Deciding to take some fresh air, Jovy stepped out of the room making her move as light as possible. Heading out through the backdoor, someone cleared their throat behind her and she froze in her steps.
“Luna, is that you making a run for it?” Xavier’s voice taunted her.
Taking a deep breath, she turned to face him. “Does taking fresh air after a long day count as a run?”
He laughed. “I was just wondering why you are out this late.”
“Could say the same for you.”
“I just need some moment to myself, it’s been rowdy here for the past few days. Let’s go and sit in the garden.” He ushered her out.
Jovy inhaled the sweet smell of the night breeze. “I couldn’t sleep and thought it would be nice to step out for a while.”
Sitting on the wood benches installed in the garden, the both of them stayed quiet letting the silence envelope them.
“How are you feeling?” Xavier inquired.
Jovy sighed, swallowing hard. “Overwhelmed, uncertain.”
Xavier bit hard on his lips, he had expected her to act unsure but hearing her admit how worried she feels makes him feel more relaxed that she wouldn’t be much of a problem to him. His worries dissipated almost immediately, it wouldn’t be so bad in the end.
“It’s all because you are new to this. You don’t have to worry about anything. I would be by your side all the way.”
Jovy smiled shyly tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. “Thank you for the assurance.”
He grinned in response. “You are welcome.”
“I should head back in now.” Jovy said as she stood up.
Xavier raised an eyebrow. “So soon? You just stepped out not too long ago.”
“I feel better now.” She smiled.
“Alright.” Xavier shook his head in understanding.
As Xavier watched her receding back, he thought to himself that maybe Jovy isn’t so bad after all. She should be easy for him to control and manipulate. He had only been worried for nothing. Smiling to himself, Xavier laid flat on the bench closing his eyes as he inhaled deeply letting sleep evade him.
