Chapter 112 A New Life
GOLD PACK
Jovy inhaled the nice air that Gold pack emitted, she could almost envision herself doing great things in the pack and her life taking a new turn. For the first time in her eighteen to almost nineteen years of living, she made a decision on her own. A life changing one at that.
Days back when she had revealed her intentions to Arlo to prevent her from changing her mind, Arlo had insisted Jovy leaves the house the same day she got discharged from the hospital. Lodging her in a hotel and inviting Alice over and the two nights she spent there were the best moments of her life. Alice couldn’t help being herself and she made it all fun for them.
After deliberating with Arlo and Alice, they also thought it would be better for Jovy to be away in an unfamiliar place. That way it might be hard for Logan to find her, that is if he ever bothers to look for her. Luckily, Amelia is just the right person to call.
Alice had insisted that Arlo make the call across to his father as he had suggested at first but Jovy stood her ground to move to Gold pack instead. The only clause would be to live separately from Amelia and get a job later on. Jovy still wasn’t over the treatment she was subjected to in her old home even though they were on good terms now.
There was no need to bother Arlo to lend her money cause she had enough money to spend in the account Tommy opened on her behalf. She couldn’t be more grateful for his good deeds. Jovy’s plan was to get settled and find a stable job in a restaurant as a kitchen assistant till she gets better at her cooking practice and get an actual certificate.
Her thoughts were brought to a halt when Amelia returned to the table letting out a huff. The moment they entered the restaurant she had excused herself real quick for the restroom. “Those orders should be ready by now, what’s holding them up?” Amelia asked
Jovy smiled as the waitress moved towards them with their order. Mouthing a thank you, she gave Amelia an amused look. “Thought you said some of Gold pack special of some sort?”
Amelia grinned. “Well, I thought it would be nice to add a little drama.”
Jovy laughed as she inhaled the sweet scent. “Heaven knows I love waffles and chicken.”
“Me too. And it taste superb.” Amelia said with a full mouth, she had already cut out a piece.
The both of them settled to eat while staying quiet but towards the end of the meal, Jovy cleared her throat. “I know it’s probably not my place to poke my nose but I am just curious. Is everything okay, Amelia?”
Amelia’s eyes watered almost immediately. She has never had anyone ask her such crucial question before. She dropped her cutlery and folded her hands. “I don’t want to bother you about my issues Jovy because you have a lot on your plate.”
“Come on, I am fine. Just talk to me.”
Amelia sighed. “As you already know my mom is away from our pack and she is here with me…” She paused with her eyes lingering on Jovy expecting her to give off some sort of reaction.
Jovy only nodded, urging her to keep talking. She had no grudge against Ava and wouldn’t have objected her either ways.
“I knew it would take a toll on me but I had hoped badly that the occurrence she was faced with would have made her humble. But who was I fooling? She is still her bitchy self and not just that, she told me who my father is.”
That made Jovy curious and it caused her to move to the edge of the chair. “Who is he?”
“Alpha Adrian.”
Staring shellshocked, Jovy gasped several times just to catch her breath. “You don’t say!”
“Shameful right? If he never asked about me probably he never and obviously doesn’t want me. You know I wish I didn’t have a mother or probably my mom is like yours.”
A dry chuckle escaped Jovy’s lips. “Don’t get fooled Amelia. I doubt if my mom was any different. It turns out Tommy isn’t my father and I don’t know who my father is. Mom is dead and there is no one to point him out to me.” They both stayed silent, letting the information sink in.
“I guess our life is an actual movie then.” Amelia joked.
“I would agree to that.” Jovy laughed.
Amelia’s phone rang cutting their discussion short. She mouthed an excuse to pick up the call. ‘Hello, Arnold.’ She stayed quiet for a while listening to what the other person on the line had to say.
‘Are you for real?’ Another pause. ‘Oh my goodness! Thank you so much, Arnold. I really appreciate this. We would come around tomorrow thanks.’
Jovy got affected by the smile on her face. ‘What’s the good news?’
Amelia nodded. “You girl, is a lucky one. That was the owner of the restaurant I work in. Considering your job interest, he said they could use more hands in the kitchen. But if you don’t mind doubling as a waitress for the meantime then you definitely have the job.”
Jovy stared in amazement. “Really?!”
Amelia shook her head. When Jovy had mentioned it casually to Amelia that she would be needing a job, she didn’t expect to get it that soon. Her joy knew no bounds cause her mind had been made up that it might take her a few weeks before getting a job to settle with.
“So what do you say?” Amelia asked.
“This is an amazing news, Amelia. I am taking it of course. Thank you so much.”
Amelia held her hand and rubbed it gently. “I haven’t really been able to say this to your face. I want you to know that you are the strongest and most resilient person I have ever known in my entire life. You motivate me and you are the only reason I have decided to make a good pact with my life. Thank you so much for being amazing. And I will keep seeking for your forgiveness for the rest of my life.” She said with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Jovy inhaled. “I should thank you for realizing your mistakes and wanting to make amends. I am grateful for that. Thanks for finding a place in your heart to love me.”
“And I do hope Alice does forgive me too.”
“She would come around definitely and you both would find a neutral ground to sort out your
issues.”
Amelia smiled. “Thanks. You should hurry with your food, I would need to take you grocery shopping because Arnold asked to come in tomorrow. I hope you don’t mind?”
Jovy waved in a hurry. “I don’t mind one bit, I am down for it all. Thank you again, Amelia.”
Amelia smiled widely. “Anytime sis. Anytime.”

MYSTIC SHADOWS FORTRESS
Arlo laughed lightly into the receiver. ‘I hope you told Alice she isn’t bad after all.’
‘She would have a fit.’ Jovy said from the other end. She laughed along the line. ‘Amelia has been amazing, Arlo. I really can’t thank her enough.’
He snorted. ‘Can I be petty? That is the least of your compensation for everything she did to you.’
‘Don’t be like that, it’s all in the past now. It’s because of her I am well settled here.’
‘Well, we would give her that. I am just so happy you feel more relaxed now. And I hope you haven’t been thinking about him?’
‘Trust me to not.’
Arlo felt relieved that Jovy was finally settling in. It has been a week since she left Logan and everything that has to do with him. He feels like a proud father. The thought of wanting Jovy as a lover doesn’t sit right with him anymore cause he has learnt to accept the truth of him being more of a supporter and friend. As much as they might deny it, she is mated to Logan and would never stop loving him.
‘Are you still there, Arlo?’ Jovy’s voice sifted into the receiver.
Arlo laughed while shaking his head at the same time. ‘Oh don’t mind me, I just got carried away a bit. So, how has work been?’
‘Work is great…amazing too. Arlo, everyone here is nice and I am enjoying my space.’
‘Wow! I am thinking to come live in with you.’ He teased.
She laughed. ‘You don’t fool me. Why would you leave that mansion of yours to come stay with me in a cubicle?”
‘Because I am a nice person.’
‘Nah, you don’t say.’
Letting out a soft laugh, he was about to say something when the door to his room opened up with force and a raging Logan accompanied by a tired looking Kyrian entered.
‘Let me call you back.’ Arlo whispered.
‘Alright.’ Jovy responded before he disconnected the call.
“What is all this about?” Arlo questioned both men.
Logan hissed as he placed both hands on his waist. “I should ask you. Where is Jovy?” He growled.
Arlo looked towards Kyrian and then back at Logan. “Why are you asking me? Your Beta is right behind you.”
“Boy, don’t play with me.” Logan said, taking a step closer to him with a mean look on his face.
Arlo sat unshaken as he held Logan’s gaze. ‘I am sorry, Alpha but what do you think you are trying to do intimidating me like this? Do you think it would make me bend to you?”
Logan was beginning to lose his patience. He had returned from his trip horny as hell and couldn’t get anyone else to take his wrath considering how early in the morning he had returned. Only for him to open Jovy’s room to find it empty and half of her closet was gone too. There was no letter or message for him, none of the maids and guards could tell where she had went too. It had taken everything in him to not rage so bad and storm down to Kyrian’s house. He knows Arlo would definitely be aware of her whereabouts.
“Where are you keeping her Arlo? I won’t ask you again!” He threatened.
Arlo stood up with poise. “I thought you weren’t suppose to be back until next month. Now that you are here, is it because you care about Jovy’s whereabout or your ego just can’t take the truth that she left?”
To avoid getting hit, Arlo moved swiftly away from him with his phone and car keys in hand before running out of the room. Well it was a good thing they weren’t at the door when he made the run. Logan made a curve to go after him but Kyrian was quick enough to hold him back.
“Don’t!” He warned.
“Get your fucking hands off me, Kyrian. I know you are aware of all this. You traitor!” Logan howled with his wolf rearing its head as he pushed Kyrian against the wall.
However, Kyrian didn’t stop at that but came at him again this time landing a hard punch on his face. Logan fell to the ground. He wasn’t expecting the hit and had been caught off guard.
“What is your problem?!” Kyrian bellowed. “Why are you so hell bent on destroying that young girl? I blame myself for ever stooping so low to get you a wife. All you ever did was make her entire life miserable! Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?” He huffed.
Logan scoffed, wiping at his mouth as he attempted to stand up. “Traitor! So you helped her run off.”
“You bastard!” Kyrian weakened him again with another hit. “How dare you! Just because you are the Alpha doesn’t mean it is your place to talk to me whichever way you choose. You are my friend but I am beginning to regret ever being friends with you. It’s bad enough that I have to keep up with your bullshit everyday and now you want to guilt trip me? How crazy does that sound?” He clicked his teeth. “Are you the only one with a rugged past? You make it sound like you were ever a saint! Why should everyone else suffer for what your parents did? What exactly was Jovy’s offense? She was never like other girls! She wasn’t after your money or title but she only seek to be a part of your life. But what did you do? You made the six months she spent here a living hell for her. You should really applaud yourself!”
“That’s a nice speech!” Logan stated with sarcasm laced in his voice. “You like to pretend to be the good guy. Great huh? Is that why you let her go?”
Kyrian stared in disbelief. His anger was beginning to get the better part of him and his wolf threatening to unleash itself. “You are a pathetic and mentally unstable bastard. You claim to hate your father but you are exactly like him. Jovy was in the hospital for three weeks fighting for her life and you never thought for once to check on her. And you expect her to come back to a monster like yourself? No one had to make such decision for her, she knew what to do herself.”
A dry chuckled escaped Logan’s lips. “Finally, she got a muscle.” He stared straight at his Beta. He wiped at the blood drooling down his face with the back of his palm. “Do you know why I despise her so much? She is everything like my mother! She is weak, pathetic and stupidly in love. If I asked her to give her life to me she would. I hated how easy she was to access. And to cap it all she is a latent wolf. How awful does that sound?!”
Kyrian stared at him pitifully. “That is what it means to love someone. You would never understand it since you have never been loved. I thought this was all going to get better with a woman in your life but it is becoming more evident that you would end up alone no doubt about it.”
“Say whatever it is you want. I don’t care. Now that she has finally gone, it’s good riddance to bad rubbish. I can’t deal with her stupid face anymore.” Logan spat in distaste, making his way out of the room.
“You will regret this!” Kyrian yelled after him.
“Fuck you!” Logan hollered, his voice resonating through the entire hallway. Logan felt a string of unexplainable emotions as he got into his car and drove off.
Logan cursed Jovy out hoping she rots to death wherever she finds herself.
