Chapter 92 A new leaf
MYSTIC SHADOWS FORTRESS
“I mean it Arlo, you should taste the cream. I am sure I mixed it well.” Jovy pleaded, lifting the mixing spoon in hand for him to taste from.
The both of them had taken the kitchen to themselves just to test out Jovy’s cooking skills. She has been learning for close to two weeks with the help of the laptop Arlo bought for her. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as she had imagined.
Arlo made a face at what he just tasted. “I will just pass, it looks superb though.”
Jovy laughed heartily. “You liar.”
He joined her in laughing hard. “I can’t believe you still haven’t learnt how to make cream cheese after a whole week of learning.”
Jovy shrugged nonchalantly. “You can’t blame me. I have been trying my best, but it seems not to want me.” She pouted. “At least my bread is out of this world.”
“What is the essence of bread without the cream cheese?”
“Errr, toast it instead…” Jovy suggested with her eyes dancing playfully.
Arlo was about to say something when his phone beeped. He cussed after checking through the message. “Shit! I have an important test class in ten minutes. I am so sorry Jovy, I promise to come by tomorrow. Call me if you need anything.” Arlo kissed her cheek in a hurry as he made his way out.
The space fell silent and Jovy felt lonely once again. Just like every night she has to spend alone. For a week, Logan had made himself scarce. The past week he had been home but avoided her like a plague until he gets horny that is the only time she sees him. But this week, she hasn’t set her eyes on him and still can’t sense his presence. It’s obvious he has travelled and didn’t bother to inform her.
Jovy sighed to herself as she cleaned up the mess. She couldn’t help but feel like a sex toy to him. He definitely doesn’t see her as someone to love or care for. Her self esteem would have derailed to its lowest point if Arlo and Kyrian, most especially Arlo haven’t been checking up on her on a daily basis.
Living with Logan is hellish. He has also warned her to not receive any visitor that means her friends or family from the Midnight pack which makes it worse since Alice has been so eager to come check on her.
Jovy headed back to the room. She sat on the edge of the bed with her eyes laced with tears. Curling herself on the bed, she tried to close her eyes and shut out the depressing thoughts crossing her mind. The cooking classes she has been taking has also enabled her to keep her sanity in check. She wished Logan would be considerate enough to let her friend come check on her from time to time but it appeared that he cared nothing about her and does whatever suits him.
Sitting up on the bed, she checked her phone for any possible notification and Amelia had called. Jovy smiled to herself. Amelia had actually meant it when she said she had eventually turned a new leaf. The both of them have been exchanging calls constantly, but it’s not really adequate like before since Amelia has her hand full at her workplace. Getting a call from her so early in the day only implies it’s either her break or day off.
Jovy dialed Amelia on video call. She positioned the phone on her pillow and against the bed frame. Amelia picked on the second ring.
‘Jovy!’ She bellowed in excitement.
Jovy giggled. ‘Hey there you.’
‘How are you today?’
‘I should be fine.’ Jovy’s response had the both of them stay quiet for a while.
‘You know there is no need for you to stay there, right?’
‘It’s all good, Amelia. Also, my cooking class is going quite well.’
‘That’s so good to hear.’
Observing her a bit, Jovy could tell the smile on her face isn’t exactly real. She would know because most of her own smiles are faked. ‘Is there something you need to tell me, Amelia?’
Amelia sighed heavily. “I have no idea where my mom is Jovy. I know I told her not to find me, but you should know her too. She never listens to anyone but herself. I feel like something had happened to her.’
‘Do you know anyone of her friend you can reach out to at the pack?’ Jovy asked.
She scoffed. “Mom and I didn’t exactly have the best mother and child relationship.’
‘What do you think you would do now?’
‘I really don’t know and I fear going back to the pack will only give Jared an opportunity to get to me. I am happy right here.’
‘Do you mind if I call Alice to ask then?’
She paused to think. ‘Alright. I hope she wouldn’t mind.”
‘She would mind, but I trust her to help me find out. Don’t worry yourself too much about it.’
‘Thanks, Jovy. Do take care of yourself. I would call you again. Bye.’ Amelia mumbled into the receiver.
Jovy sighed as the silence enveloped her again. She dialed Alice number but it wasn’t going through. Picking up her laptop, she checked for the classes she had saved to watch for later but it didn’t interest her at the moment.
Her mind raced through the sneer Logan always has in his eyes whenever he glanced her way. Why he detest her presence so much, Jovy couldn’t place her hand on it. She hoped daily that he would have a change of heart and begin to love her. On days when he is meant to be home, he never comes around and it was almost like he has found some other place to rest in. And it made Jovy’s heart ache every time as she blames herself for his absence in his own home.
Jovy laid on the bed and curled herself even more. However, some giggles resounded from the hallway and it made her curious to check. The maids have their own house detached from the main house which means only herself and Logan occupy the floor. Worried that there might have been an intruder, she walked stealthily towards the door and when she peeked through the door nobody was by the hallway. After some minutes passed, she could hear some faint moans and her heart beat raced faster as she prayed fervently that it isn’t what she was thinking.
Taking a deep breath she looked through the hole on the door of Logan’s room. Her heart almost stopped when she caught sight of him thrusting into another woman with every muscle he possessed. Pissed at how much he enjoys humiliating her, Jovy wiped off her tears and she made an attempt to open the door and luckily it wasn’t locked.
“Get away from my husband you bitch!” Jovy yelled with every strength that she could muster.
