Chapter 91 Bitter truth
MYSTIC SHADOWS FORTRESS
Taking steady and caution steps, Arlo held up his breath to avoid running into Logan. He had intentionally come into the mansion knowing he would be at the office. His mind has been on Jovy for a while and all he wants to do is see her and talk to her most especially because he knows she would need the company really bad. Logan would have set out his rules and Jovy would partially be living like a prisoner in her matrimonial home.
“Good afternoon, Sir Arlo.” One of the maids greeted as they almost bumped into each other.
Arlo almost leaped out of his skin cause he had totally forgotten that there are people around and he would surely meet them. He cleared his throat and stood upright. “Afternoon to you too. Is the Alpha around?” He asked despite knowing the answer.
“He left for work already.”
“And the Luna?”
“She should be at the garden. I will excuse myself sir, thank you.” The maid mumbled before walking away.
Arlo heaved a sigh of relief as he made his way to the garden. As said, Jovy sat on the grass with her arms around her folded knees and she looked lost in thought.
“Fancy seeing you here.”Arlo said.
Jovy jolted up immediately at the voice and her eyes shone widely when she saw him. “Arlo! You startled me.”
“I am sorry if I did. I guess it’s not casual seeing me around.”
Guilt gripped at Jovy’s heart as she could remember the last time they both had a conversation. It was one emotional exchange. Jovy tried to steady her shaky heart as she returned to her sitting position.
“I am sorry. I have just almost forgotten that you also have access to the fortress house.”
Arlo kept quiet and sat next to her. “Tell me something I don’t know. Jovy, why exactly are you here?”
She blinked. “You won’t understand the kind of life I have. This is the only option I had.”
“That is so untrue.” He countered her. “You could have chosen to run away.”
Jovy turned her head towards him with tears lacing her eyes. “To where exactly? And survive on what?”
“Don’t try to give an excuse. You would have survived anyway. You are just so blinded by the crazy emotions running through you.”
Jovy sniffed. Arlo had the perfect description of what her stupidity seems like. She could have run off when Alice offered to help. She could have accepted Amelia’s invite to run far away. But she didn’t. Instead, her stupid heart keeps hoping for a change when it’s clearly not going to happen.
“I wanted to have you so bad. But that day when you looked me in the eye and chose him, I thought it would be just the rave of the moment only for me to return and hear that you got married to him. I had to confirm it myself. How could you do this to yourself?”
Jovy hissed. “Do you know how many times I have wished for death? Do you know how awful I feel about myself? I doubt it if you do? Yes! I lack love. I have never had anyone show me what it means but that doesn’t imply me not knowing what it really feels like. How is it my fault that I have such a bad fate? The day I realized my life was wasting away while responding to every of Logan’s demands was when I decided to focus on getting my freedom and that same moment I got tossed away by my own pack. What was I suppose to do then?”
Arlo shrugged, trying to hold back the tears pricking the back of his eyes. “Run?”
“How far would a person like myself with a latent wolf run? They would get me in a twinkle of an eye. I have lived in a cage all my life, everyone treated me like a disease and I am used to not being loved.”
He shook his head vigorously. “Not this sort of treatment, Jovy. I love my uncle but he is your worst nightmare. Please, Jovy, if you are worried about where to go, leave it to me. He won’t even find you.” He offered.
“And what if he does? What happens to you then?”
“Why are you being such a recluse to your freedom?”
“People like myself don’t dream much. I can only live by the day as it goes.”
They both stayed silent with each person lost in their thought. Arlo chuckled, breaking off the silence as he looked at her.
“You know, from the very first time I saw you, I knew you were completely different and unique from anyone that I have ever met.”
Jovy’s ears perked at his words. She wanted to have an actual conversation so bad with someone cause it has been a long while. “Really?”
“Yes.” He grinned. “Your beauty was immeasurable and it still is.”
She blushed at his compliment. “Thanks, Arlo.”
“Jovy, I still want to be your friend. I don’t care whatever you might be thinking of this situation you have found yourself in. I want to be that person you can call when you need someone to talk to and don’t hesitate please.”
Jovy tried to blink back the tears. “Thank you so much, Arlo. Thanks for not judging me.”
Arlo smiled. “I am sorry for being such a nuisance.”
She laughed. “You know that isn’t true.”
He inhaled deeply. “Thanks for not hiding from me. I had to take a huge risk coming down here. He loves me but has the nastiest side to getting pissed when he wants to.”
“I was surprised he didn’t have you lynched after facing him that day.”
Arlo laughed. “Nah, he wouldn’t do that. So, what have you been doing now?”
She shrugged. “Nothing.”
“What would you like to do then?”
Jovy searched her head for a while. “I really don’t know, never had the chance to think about it much.”
“Alright, let me put it this way. What do you think might interest you then?”
Jovy tried to think. “Probably…baking and cooking? I never did get a chance to stay in the kitchen.”
“That’s superb. I will get you a laptop tomorrow so you can start taking online classes and that would keep your mind open and busy.”
Jovy couldn’t believe her ears. She would have never thought a way out to her depressed life would appear so soon.
“That should help.” Arlo mumbled.
Jovy giggled in excitement as she pulled him into a hug. “Thank you so much Arlo.”
Arlo chuckled into her embrace. “You are always welcome.”
“What the hell is going on here?” Logan’s deep voice bellowed from behind.
Logan had a dead look on his face as he stared down at Arlo and Jovy. He had returned to the house when the intense urge to fuck Jovy came to his mind only for him to reach her room and she is nowhere to be found. It irked him when he needs something and can’t reach it. When he did ask about her, one of the maids said she was in the garden and the thoughts of a lengthy sex in the garden had his dick reacting to every breath he took.
To his utmost shock, he saw her embracing Arlo tightly and if his wolf wasn’t quick to pull him back, he would have had Arlo tossed away into something that would hurt him.
“What’s going on here?” He asked again.
Jovy jumped in fear as she pushed Arlo away in a hurry. “It’s not what you think…Arlo only came around…to say hello…he just got here not too long ago.” She stammered.
Arlo rolled his eyes as he stood up with a confident gait. “How are you doing, uncle?”
Logan kept his eyes on Jovy while he ignored Arlo. “Come with me now.” He ordered.
Jovy swallowed hard as she ran after him immediately. When he entered her room, she followed suit and locked the door behind.
“I…can explain…please…it’s not what you think.” She stuttered.
“Come here.” He motioned to her.
Moving toward him obediently in fear though, Jovy gasped loudly when he ripped off the dress she had on. Glancing down at her with a dark look in his eyes, Logan leaned towards her and took her mouth in roughly. Jovy moaned into his lips painfully when his grip on her neck tightened while kissing her and his other free hand roamed her bare body skillfully. He released her breasts from the brassiere she wore and he groaned when his hands squeezed her boobs.
Jovy’s legs shook at the effect. She tried to reach his hair and run her hands through his body but he held them up and prevented her from touching him. Logan lifted her off the floor and dumped her on the bed. He knelt down on the bed and pulled down her panties while she waited in anticipation for his cock. Her heart beat faster than usual as she watched him unleash his erected dick from his boxer.
Jovy’s pupils dilated at the sight. She was still engrossed at Logan’s magnificence when he pulled at both of her legs and positioned himself to the entrance of her pussy. He widened the legs and without warning his cock slammed into her core. Logan didn’t give Jovy a chance to adjust herself to him when he threw his head to the back and smashed his cock into her pussy really hard. He groaned as the pleasure ripped through every of his vein. Jovy cried in pain and pleasure but more in pain as he hit her core with so much extremity. She held tightly onto the bedsheet to keep herself together.
After what seem like forever, Logan had his release and he pulled out of her. He tucked his dick back in and left the room without looking back at her.
Logan came out to face a fierce looking Arlo sniffing the air. Logan walked away from him knowing exactly what he was about to say. Arlo followed him.
“What just happened?” Arlo asked the moment they entered Logan’s study.
To avoid dragging Jovy’s remaining dignity in the mud, he had prevented himself from lashing out at his uncle immediately he set his eyes on him. Logan sat on his chair with a blank look on his face, he knew Arlo hadn’t left yet cause his wolf had been growling all through the hallway. He was beginning to regret settling scores with Arlo because he would definitely keep questioning every of his attitude towards Jovy.
“Answer me!” Arlo gnashed his teeth. Logan’s face was irritating him by each passing second. If it wasn’t for the circumstances surrounding their status he would have smashed his head badly.
“Watch your tone brother.” Logan warned sternly.
Arlo seethed more at Logan’s attitude. “What sort of being are you exactly? I know you just went in there to force yourself on her. Was this because of me or you already had that in mind on your way here?” When Logan didn’t say anything, Arlo already knew the answer. “I can’t believe this.” He mused. “How cruel can you be? What exactly did this girl do to you?”
“She is my wife! She is my fucking wife which implies I can have her whenever I want and there is nothing you can do or say to that!” Logan growled almost losing his temper.
“A wife you snatched away or should I say the one tossed down to you like a piece of meat!” Arlo yelled.
Logan stayed quiet not saying anything, he didn’t want his anger to get the better of him considering how they just got back to being friendly with each other again. “It’s not your place to question me, Arlo!”
“Why won’t you just act humane for once? Try to fill up your heart with love or whatever it is that would aid you to treat people better. Jovy has done nothing wrong to you, she isn’t the one who hurt you in the past. Neither, does she want your money or whatever is running through your head. If you won’t love her, then don’t treat her like she is your slave or something. Listen uncle, I won’t let you make her commit suicide. Just to let you know every spare time I have I would come here to keep her company. And if she has to be punished for my presence, I promise to cause a lot of disruption in this Fortress and I am not even playing!” Arlo blurted out before storming out of the study.
Arlo paused in the hallway when his furious eyes met with Jovy’s scared ones. He calmed his breath and made his way towards her. He reached out to hold her hands. “Come with me.” He whispered.
Jovy sniffed as she walked closely next to him. She had heard Arlo’s ranting voice through the door. Thinking Logan was angry at Arlo embracing her, she had cleaned herself up and stepped out of the room with the intention of apologizing to him.
“You didn’t have to do that. I don’t want you at loggerheads with your uncle.” She mumbled.
Arlo inhaled deeply as he turned towards her to hold both of her hands. “Myself and uncle would be just fine. This isn’t our first argument. But your maltreatment won’t come to an end soon if he isn’t told the bitter truth. I don’t want you crying yourself to sleep every time Jovy. Please.”
She sobbed hard. “Thank you so much.”
“That’s what friends are for.” Arlo assured her. “I will take my leave now, see you tomorrow.” He leaned in to kiss her forehead before he walked away.
Jovy watched his receding back and felt like a part of her went with him. She had felt like a trash bag with the way Logan had dumped his semen in her and walked out. He paid less or no attention to her. And it is clear now that, she doesn’t matter to him and he would never look at her face.
Jovy fell to the ground slowly as she let the tears flow down her face freely.
