Chapter 59 The Bratty Queen
MIDNIGHT PACK: FINLAY HIGH SCHOOL
Alice practically stomped on the floors of the school hallway with her eyes searching everywhere for a particular face. Jovy stumbled as she tried to walk at her friend’s pace. Even though she was trying to act discreet in the hoodie she wore. Even though there was no actual need for it, since it was of well known fact that she left home. Jovy still didn’t feel comfortable showing herself to Amelia with no caution. Her intention was to appear remorseful which sounded really absurd since she had been intentional with leaving in the first place.
“Please calm your nerves, Alice! People are watching.” Jovy whispered from behind.
It was always assumed that when you are angry at night, you sleep over it and it’s expected to dissipate. But it turned out to be a different case entirely in Alice’s case. Alice had harbored her anger all through the night and it seem to lighten up the more they got closer to school. Jovy had tried all she could to make her steam lessen but there was a bit someone like her could do to calm an angry wolf like Alice’s. Only Alice knows how she was feeling inside.
Alice stopped in the middle of the hall way abruptly and she looked around. She had been wondering why she hadn’t caught a glimpse of Amelia yet which was unlikely, for her and her crew to not showcase their crazy bodies this early. It wasn’t even time for the first period yet.
“Where the hell is that bitch?!” Alice growled, drawing the attention of the students moving around the hall to herself.
Almost like she heard a voice whisper to her, Alice made her way towards the school garden and it was as if she had an epiphany about it. Jovy almost slammed herself into Alice’s rigid back. Right in front of them was Amelia and her crew, chatting and giggling in their horrifying voices.
“You!” Alice made an attempt to move but got stopped by Jovy’s hard grip on her arm.
“Easy Alice, you can’t wash your linens out here. Not in front of these people.” Jovy nodded towards Amelia and her peeps. “Even if you must you need to do so with a clear head. Amelia is petty and you know it.”
Alice scoffed. “And I am probably pettier.”
“I get you, but all the same. Don’t show her that you have anything in mind yet, there would be a need to catch her off guard.”
Alice suddenly tilted her head in amusement. “I can’t believe you are saying this right now. But whatever it is speaking on your behalf, I love it.”
Jovy grinned. “Exactly what I have been trying to make you understand since we left home. I know this doesn’t sound like me, but I would like to see you whoop Amelia’s ass. It’s long deserving.”
The both of them made their way towards an unsuspecting crew. Amelia had a sneer on her face which caused Amelia’s friends to keep their distance a bit.
“Oh my goodness!” Amelia faked a gasp. “The prodigal child is finally back. Who put you on the loose?”
Alice stepped in front of Jovy. “Watch your fucking mouth!”
Something twitched in Amelia’s eyes as hers met with Alice’s. She tried to hide the sudden panic she felt and turned up a blank face.
“Awwnnn, always trying to play wrestler. Coming to her rescue yet again?”
“That’s enough, Amelia.” Jovy muttered.
“Oh! She speaks! See who has grown some balls over the week. You are one to talk you know. I hope you are ready for the long term punishment you would be getting from your dad.” Amelia laughed out deviously.
Jovy mumbled under her breath as she moved from behind Alice to reveal herself. “I don’t need you to inform me.”
“To what do I owe this noncommittal visit?” Amelia had an amused smirk on her face.
Alice wanted to wipe it off so bad but she had to agree with Jovy. Knowing it would be too much to bare it all in front of so many people. Amelia’s crew getting an hint of her parents divorce implies the whole school getting to know about it and that would be too much for even someone like her.
Alice tried to sound natural after counting her breath. “Jovy has something to say to you in private.” She lied smoothly, surprised at how that stood in place of what she had intended saying initially.
Amelia had an uncertain look in her eyes. “You both must take me for a fool right? What exactly do you have to say?”
“Probably if you let your watchdogs go, we might let you in on it.” Jovy responded boldly.
Amelia chuckled dryly as she folded her arms on her chest. “Now I am curious. You have really grown a whole lot of wings in few days Jovy and it is nice to see you trying so hard.”
“We need to talk.” Jovy said. Alice balled her fist as she tried hard to keep her anger at bay.
“You can go girls, would catch up with you in a few minutes.” Alice nodded towards her handbags.
They left almost immediately, like they could feel the heat Amelia was refusing to take note of.
After watching them leave, Alice’s blank face turned into a devilish grin. “Hey there, Jovy.” She mused, keeping her eye on Amelia. “Ready for some detention?”
“Might as well make do with it.” Jovy replied as she mirrored her friend’s posture.
Amelia was beginning to feel her heart race, she didn’t understand what it was Alice and Jovy were up to. “Are you trying to beat me up for ratting Jovy’s ass out?” She tried to sound unbothered.
Alice snorted. “You really think we would stoop as low as you?”
Amelia shook her head as she laughed cynically. “Sounds typical of us all.”
“What the hell are you doing with my father?!” Alice let out in a tiny scream.
The world paused around Amelia and blood practically drained out of her whole body. To think that after meeting Henry, she felt a bit relieved that it was all still between them but having Alice in front of her, obviously knowing her truth made it hard for her to breath.
“Cat got your tongue?” Alice hollered.
Amelia could see Jovy take a step back and judging by Alice’s stance she most definitely was getting a beat. Trying to save her head, Amelia tried to run off but without missing a step, Alice grabbed her by the hair and tightened her hold on it.
“You must really think you are smart right?” Alice growled in her ear as Amelia writhed underneath her hold. “You are not!” She threw her hard on the floor and flexed her arms.
Amelia rubbed at her hair, trying to massage the burning scalp. “You would get suspended for this!” She threatened with her eyes glazing with tears.
Alice laughed as she stood over her. “I had thought you would say expulsion. But if this would only get me suspended, there is no harm in sending you into coma then.” She gritted. “You bitch! Why did you have to go after my father?!” She wailed, throwing a loose punch at her.
Amelia coughed out as the punch hit her on the side. She held on to that part in pain and she gasped for breath. “Wait! Wait! Let me explain! I didn’t mean to. It wasn’t suppose to come to this.” She tried to explain, amidst panicked breath.
“But you knew what you were getting into when you hooked up with a married man despite having a boyfriend.” Jovy said, keeping a stern gaze on her.
Amelia felt small, she hated the time of weakness she found herself in. She decided to brace herself up for whatever Alice had planned for her. She resulted in acting bratty.
“It’s not my fault your mother can’t seem to fuck him well enough!”
And that was all Amelia said before she found herself slipping into darkness.
