hapter 37 An eternal slumber
FINLAY HIGH SCHOOL
Amelia walked through the school hall way with her heels clanking against the marbled floor. She had been brewing some sort of conniving words to punish Jovy. It had been long she had messed with her. But to her disappointment, it seem like she had arrived at her door too late because Jovy had already left for school. It deflated her ego a bit cause it was always fun to watch Jovy’s eyes plead for Amelia to let go. The mere thought of it makes her feel powerful.
Amelia was about entering her second class for the day when she sighted Alice coming towards her. So rather than enter the class, she changed her direction and faced Alice’s direction instead.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the craziest maniac of our time.” Alice noted on sighting her.
Amelia raised her brows and folded her arms against her chest. As much as she was always intimidated by Alice, she hated to show it and she would rather stand with her legs shaky looking directly at her than cower away.
“Has your tongue been chopped off finally?” Alice grinned.
Amelia rolled her eyes and flicked her tongue. “You know I wonder how you and Jovy got in sync with each other. But it is obvious you both suit one another just fine. How can you walk with a fighting spirit?”
“Just the same as you waking up with a conniving one.” Alice retorted.
“Whatever! Anyways where is she?”
“Who?”
“Playing dumb now, are we? Where the hell is Jovy?”
Alice raised a brow. She had wanted to say something to block Amelia off but she knows the truth would be out in the open eventually. She didn’t necessarily have to say anything to avoid implicating herself.
“I don’t know. Why are you asking me?”
“You both are always together and it is definite that you are always up to something together. So, where is she?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about. I thought you both live in the same house and spent the night together. So why ask me about her?” Alice argued.
“Is that how you intend to play now?”
Alice chewed hard on her tongue. “Get out of my way and don’t ever think of crossing my path ever again.” She snapped straight into her face making Amelia stagger backward a bit.
Alice stomped off, trying all she can to not have to look back at Amelia. There was no way she would talk on knowing where Jovy was. Moreover, Jovy had only divulged where she was headed not exactly her destination. She couldn’t blame her best friend for trying to seek an escape from the tormenting world her own father had subjected her to.
Amelia turned to watch Alice’s receding back. She wanted to believe Alice was lying but on the other hand Alice had been unaware of Jovy’s movement the last time and that exactly might be the case.
Amelia smiled devilishly to herself. The thoughts of what she would do with such information made her feel so good about herself as she turned towards her own class to catch up on the last minutes for the period.
*************************
Stepping into the class, Amelia thought otherwise on staying at school till all the day’s classes was over so she headed out of the class and went back to her locker. Amelia grabbed her bag and headed for the school exit. Being the students vice president, there were a number of rules she could bend to please herself and no one would question her since she hardly moves around when classes are on.
Getting into her car, she drove out of the school premises and went straight down to Tommy’s company, Finlay Inc. One of the things she loves about her stepfather was how rich he is and how much of Midnight Pack he controls. Even though rumor has it that Jovy’s mother owned most of the properties but it was only a rumor that no one could prove right.
Driving into the company’s car park, Amelia jumped out of the car almost like she was being pursued. She counted her steps into the large foyer in a hurry, got into the elevator and pressed on the floor number she was headed. Amelia hoped fervently that she wouldn’t miss him and have to wait for his return or him being at a meeting.
On getting to his office space, she was met with the ever smiling face of Linda, Tommy’s secretary.
“Hey there, Amelia.” Linda’s face light up on sighting her.
Amelia ignored her pleasantries. “Is my dad in?”
“Yes.” Linda nodded her head positively even though she was taken aback by her rudeness.
Amelia heaved a sigh of relief. “Thanks for that response you just saved a life. I am sorry for not responding to your greeting. So how are you doing?”
“I am fine. Thank you.” Linda sounded a bit off but still plastered a small smile on her face. “You can go to him. I doubt if he would have any problem seeing you.”
“Alright.” Amelia replied as she tapped her manicured fingers on the table.
She turned away and went to Tommy’s office. She entered the room without bothering to knock. Tommy was on a call that seem serious judging by the look on his face. She hoped he hadn’t heard the news before she was to break it to him.
Tommy looked up from the note he was scribbling down. He wasn’t expecting to see Amelia at the time of the day. She was suppose to be in school by now.
“What’s the matter baby? Why aren’t you in school?” He inquired.
Amelia giggled as she jumped her way to seat in front of him. She loved how Tommy Finlay always has an endearment to refer to her as and makes her feel special to him.
“Nothing dad. I have got some shocking news for you though!” She responded.
That got Tommy’s attention as he sat up, knowing Amelia so well he could bet his life savings that whatever she had to say was about Jovy. And he really hoped for Jovy’s own sake that she didn’t indulge in anything stupid that would get him reeled. He had promised himself to put her to an eternal slumber his own hands if she gets him reeled up so bad again.
“What’s wrong with her?”
Amelia flicked her tongue and suddenly picked an interest in her neat nails. Her drama was intentional just to make her words more suspense filled. She was too much of an attention seeker and would indulge in any means to make people pay attention to everything she did.
Tommy did an invisible eye roll, if he didn’t know Amelia better he would have been pissed at how much she is trying to hoard the information just to put him on the edge.
“Come on, Amelia, I have a meeting in less than ten minutes.”
That got her attention so she cleared her throat and leaned forward. “Well, Jovy has left home again.”
Tommy stared at her like she had spoken an entirely different language from what he understands. “Left home? Didn’t she leave home for school?”
“That’s where it gets interesting.” Amelia clasped her hands together and her face graced with an extremely wide grin. “She left home. I guess with the illusion of going to school. But as I speak to you she is nowhere near school.”
“This had better be a joke.” Tommy stated.
“It really isn’t. Jovy is not at school and I think she ran off again like the last time.” She stated.
Tommy balled his hands as rage spread through him. He couldn’t believe Jovy was becoming fearless as the day passes. She no longer regarded him and it angered him that her fear for him was dissipating. How she had the guts to leave home without considering his wrath only angered him the more.
Tommy shut his eyes tightly with his pupils dilating and giving way to his wolf panting angrily. One thing was certain, if he gets a hold of Jovy at that moment he might surely snap her neck into two.
In his bid to respond, Linda barged into the office with her eyes filled with fear. “They are here!” She announced.
