Chapter 34 I want him
OLD JOE DINER
Arlo had been so pumped with seeing Jovy after making a reservation at Hilton’s. He had brooded all through the night, thinking if he should let it all go with no fight. As much as Logan was his Alpha and considering the fact that he has a high respect for him, Arlo still couldn’t bring himself to let go of her just like that. He needed to prove to Logan that he was just as manly as he was. And he couldn’t be bullied into backing down from the woman he intends to have some good time with.
Classes had ended earlier than expected so rather than wait for the time to lapse, Arlo made up his mind to come by the diner and either wait for her to finish or beg the boss to let her out for the day. As he drove near the place, bobbing his head to the sound of Jaycole playing from his car speaker, Arlo almost rammed the car into a stand when he caught sight of the two lone figures standing in front of the diner.
Arlo would have ignored it at first, but then he wouldn’t miss Logan’s features anywhere. He could recognize him from far off, in the dark and without having to try too hard. His blood boiled hard when his brain reckoned on who he was with.
“Jovy!” He blurted in a harsh whisper.
Arlo balled his fist as he stepped down from the car. His wolf panting hard inside of him, having a wild wolf implies not being able to curtail his anger totally not even at the Alpha.
“Are you kidding me right now?” Arlo’s voice bellowed, looking super pissed at what he was seeing right in front of him!
Jovy almost jumped out of her skin at the voice next to her. And when her eyes caught sight of Arlo, she pushed Logan away. She wished the earth would open up and swallow her. Logan looked unfazed as his expression remained unreadable.
“Arlo, it’s not what you think.” Jovy let out, still trying to find her breath.
Arlo didn’t respond to her. He turned towards Logan and gritted his teeth at him. “I told you to back off!” He growled with his wolf in sync with him.
Jovy was a bit confused, wondering why he had stated such words. “It’s not his fault, Arlo. Please let me explain.” She was almost at the verge of tears, feeling mortified at the attention they were beginning to get from passersby.
Not looking at her, Arlo kept his gaze rigid on his uncle. “Stay out of this, Jovy! Go back to work.”
Jovy looked towards Logan for approval and he made a slow signal of telling her to go. Jovy quickened her pace as she returned into the diner. Her thoughts jumbled on what was going on exactly.
Arlo spat in distaste with a scowl on his face. Seeing Logan stand like he didn’t give a care in the world only made him angrier. “She is too young for you and you aren’t suppose to be here.”
Logan tilted his head a bit. “You wouldn’t be the one to tell me what to do and where to go.”
“Really uncle? You are acting petty right now!” Arlo snorted.
A soft chuckle escaped Logan’s lips. “And you are acting really childish now. I am not even stopping her from responding to you. She is right there. Go talk to her.” He stretched his hand towards the diner door.
Arlo shook his head. “Shouldn’t you be ashamed right this minute?”
Logan dropped his hands into his pocket and took few steps closer to Arlo. “Why should I be ashamed of going after a woman? Listen Arlo, it’s my place to decide whatever I want to do and feel. She is mine! And you and I know the last thing you want to do is mess with me.” He practically roared to his face.
Arlo didn’t say anything as Logan pulled at his suit jacket and walked away towards his car. Logan tried so hard to curtail his anger. Arlo was his kid brother and the last thing he wanted was to be in a brawl with him. At the same time he would never ever let go of what he desires to please anyone. Logan got into his car and slammed the door shut. He drove off at a high speed.
Arlo watched with pain in his heart as Logan drove off. He wasn’t going to forgive him and that was certain. He didn’t know how he was suppose to feel or react to what just happened. Standing still with his hands on his waist and staring ahead at nothing, he could feel people’s eyes on him and tears laced his eyes as he felt really betrayed. All of his life revolves around Logan and Kyrian. He was more pained cause he trusted Logan than his actual uncle.
Having to be trampled upon by the same person you look up to is the most hurtful feeling one can experience. Arlo didn’t know what he was meant to do but he knew he had some questions he wants to be answered.
Arlo braced himself up as he stormed into the diner in search of Jovy. Ol’Joe almost bit off his lip in a bid to yell at the intruder but being a very sensitive individual he knew better than to say anything.
“Where is Jovy?” Arlo demanded with his eyes searching frantically for her.
Ol’Joe heaved a deep sigh. “So much drama in less than an hour.” He muttered under his breath before pointing his hands towards the back area where Jovy was.
“Thanks.” Arlo murmured in response.
“Oh, he does have some manners.” Ol’Joe said to himself.
Jovy sat with her back arched and staring into space. Her mind was drifting back and forth between her tangled thoughts. She bit on her nails hard, wondering what was happening between Arlo and Logan. The both of them seem familiar with each other and at the same time she doubted if they did.
It was of common knowledge that Arlo had an interest in her and finding her with another person kissing so passionately in public would annoy just about anyone. Her lips tingled as she remembered the kiss. Jovy trailed her fingers to her lips and she rubbed at it. She felt goosebumps all over her body as the thought of his hands over her sent shivers down her spine.
Taking a deep breath, Jovy turned her head to find Arlo staring at her with an unreadable expression. Jovy gasped out and stood up in a hurry from the stool she sat on. She was in the kitchen trying to calm herself down to figure out the whole turn of event.
“When did you get here?” Jovy asked, looking around and wondering if Ol’Joe had been the one to let him in.
“Are you in love with him?” Arlo demanded, not moving an inch from where he stood.
Jovy sniffed and looked down at her feet. She was uncertain of how she was meant to respond.
“Answer the fucking question!” He roared.
Jovy stared up at him, jolting with fear and her mouth talked before her brain did. “I don’t know. I have only just met him…once and that was about three weeks ago. Today makes it the second…and I can’t explain what his presence does to me.”
Arlo was beginning to lose his cool. “I am certain he didn’t get through to you after you both spend time together! But you stood there kissing him with so much relish. How could you let him take advantage of you that way?!”
Jovy felt disappointed in herself for not having a response to the question. She knew Alice would sound exactly as Arlo sounded now. She already had enough of people treating her the way they dim fit than to get treated as such again by a total stranger.
“I don’t have an exact answer to that Arlo.” Jovy paused to think of more words to say to him. “But every part of me wants to be with him.” She blurted out unintentionally.
The look on Arlo’s face almost made her wish she never said anything.
