Ace’s Point Of View
“Young man, here we are! Red Orleans! The land of peace and unity!”
A month.
That was how long it took me to locate this place. I would have gotten lost if not for this nice elderly man who saw me on the way. He asked where I was headed and I told him. For some reason, he took a liking to me and led me here. Red Orleans. It took us just a day to get here.
“You know where to go from here, right?” He asked me and I nodded.
“Thank you so much.”
He shook his head. “Don’t thank me. I see you have a purpose here that was why I helped you. Not just anyone can come here, you know?” He said and I nodded. That was exactly what that old woman told me.
“Have a nice stay here!” He beamed as he walked way, dragging his cart behind him. I looked around where I was. Everywhere was bubbling and buzzing with different creatures. Some that I don’t even know. I adjusted my backpack and walked into a stall near me.
“Welcome! What can I get you?”
I heard a small voice say. I looked around, trying to figure out where the voice came from.
“I’m up here!” The voice said again. I looked up and found a tiny pixie flying above my head. She giggled and waved her tiny arms.
“Hello, handsome man.”
“You’re the owner of this place?”
She shook her head. “The owner is out. I’m managing it for her until she returns. Tell me anything you want and I’ll get it for you.”
“I need a cold drink.” I said to her and she nodded.
“Coming right up!”
I went over to sit on one of the benches and I took off my gloves. I placed my sword beside me and turned to the tiny pixie. Just then, she landed on the ground and turned into a full grown fairy.
She turned to me and grinned. “That must have startled you.”
Her voice is now that of an adult woman.
“What are you?”
“I’m a fairy.” She replied. “That can transform into a pixie.” She added casually and I nodded. Fascinating. She came over to me and placed my drink on the table.
“I did not ask for this.” I said as she placed a plate of buns on the table.
“I know. This is on the house.” She said. “A reward for being so handsome.” She said and I smirked. She reached for my jacket and pulled out one of the gold buttons.
“Payment.” I said as I stretched it to her. She collected it and dipped it in her chest. She made sure she bent enough for me to get a glimpse of her breasts.
I never knew fairies were such a flirt. She winked at me and returned to the counter. I picked up the cup and took a sip of the drink. The burning sensation I felt in my throat calmed my tensed nerves. How did she know exactly what I wanted?
“Clover!”
The fairy’s beam turned my attention to her. A pixie friend flew into the shop and landed on the counter.
“Where are you headed to?” The fairy asked.
“Devan.”
The fairy hissed. “That asshole. I wonder what’s wrong with him. No matter how much I try, he just doesn’t look my way.”
I felt interested in their conversation so I paid close attention.
“You know Devan doesn’t have time for that.”
“Or he doesn’t like women.” The fairy said in displeasure. “He’s always drowning in his cold, boring, bitter life.”
The pixie laughed. “Actually, for the past few days, Devan’s life have been chaotic because of someone.”
“Who?”
“A spectacular visitor. I feel a spark between them.” Clover said in excitement.
“Where is she from?”
“I never said the person was a she.”
“A he?! Wow. Talk about unexpected. Gosh, should I visit that guy?”
“You know he forbade you from showing up anywhere near him after that incident.”
“I did not do anything! I only kissed him.”
“Forcefully.”
I snickered and they turned to me.
“Wow, who is that?” Clover asked and the fairy shrugged.
“My customer.”
“He looks like a traveler.”
I gulped down the remaining drink and picked up my sword as I stood up. I walked to them and Clover stretched her hand for a handshake.
“Hi! I’m Clover.”
“Ace.” I said and she giggled.
“Don’t start, Clover.” The fairy warned. “This one is mine.” She added seductively and I shook my head.
“I’ll be on my way now.” I said and Clover smiled.
“Are you leaving soon?” Clover asked and I shook my head.
“No. I’m in search of someone.”
She grinned and flew to me. She landed on my shoulder and said, “how does the person look like. Not to brag but I know everyone in this country.”
“Yeah, because you’re always in everyone’s business.” The fairy said and Clover rolled her eyes.
“Alright, shoot. Describe the person.”
“It’s a male. He’s about five foot five? He has a bright skin and blue eyes.”
“Hmmm, continue.”
“His hair is white.”
The fairy snorted and I turned to her. “What’s funny?”
“You can’t find anyone with that description here. Ever.” She said.
“What does the fairy mean?” I asked Clover.
“My name is Dandelion.” The fairy corrected and I hummed. Is it a thing for fairies to have flowery names or what?
“And what I meant is that description is the exact description of a ice witch. And ice witches have been off this country for a long time.”
“Why? Were they killed?”
“No one knows exactly why but many people believe they were killed for their betrayal. So if any of their species is found now, no doubt, they will be killed.” She said and my heart dropped.
If this is true then Riaz is in trouble. I’m sure he doesn’t know anyone here, what if he falls into the wrong hands?
“Do you really know someone of that description?” Dandelion asked and I nodded.
“Yeah. I was told he came here.”
“Well, there hasn’t been news about an ice witch being captured so your guy might still be alive. You might be able to find him.”
“Thanks.”
Clover flew off my shoulder and went to join Dandelion.
“I’m gonna go now.” I said as I turned to leave.
“Wait!” Dandelion yelled. She came out of the stall and used her magic to lock the door.
“Let me come with you. I have nothing to do anyway, so…”
“I don’t want to bother you.”
She shook her head. “It’s no inconvenience to follow a hot guy around. Let’s go.”
She said and I shook my head. I turned to call Clover but I couldn’t find her.
“Where’s Clover?”
“She probably went back. She does that all the time. Let’s go, shall we.”
She linked her arm with mine and pulled me along with her.
I just hope Riaz is okay.
