Alexa’s Point Of View
Looking left and right cautiously, I went into my room and rushed to open the envelope. I just received a new letter from Lyell. He replied quicker than I thought. I brought out the letter and began to to read.
“Gosh, I can’t believe you’re really alive, Alexa. I was so happy when I received your letter. I’m sorry for not contacting you all these years. Honestly, I went through hell in the hands of Darco. I was caged underground and tortured by him. I was able to escape a few months ago and I sought for you immediately I left. I was told you were taken away and my investigation led me to your pack. I was satisfied to see you were doing well. I wish to meet with you, Alexa. I can’t sneak in there because of the security. We can meet in the town, Alexa.”
Sneak in? Why would he sneak in? He could just come and tell Akira that he seeks for me. Or I can even tell Akira before hand. He doesn’t have to sneak in before seeing me.
I picked up my pen and began to write. “You’re free to come see me, Lyell. No one will send you back. I’ll tell the security that you’re here for me so just come. I also want to meet with you. It’s been such a long time, you know?”
I let down my pen and enveloped the letter. I’ll take this to the post office tomorrow. I took both letters and hid them in one of the drawers and locked it. It should be safe in there. As I stood up, a knock came at the door.
“Who is it?” I asked.
“It’s Raya, your highness.”
“Oh, come in.”
She came in with a tray of fruits and places them on the table. “Are you not going to sleep?” She asked me.
“Not yet.”
“Ah. You’re still waiting for your alpha?” She grinned and I blushed.
“I don’t know what he’s been doing since that night.”
After Akira left my room that night, he came back after thirty minutes to announce he was leaving for the borders, saying there was trouble. We couldn’t even say goodbye properly. He’s been out since then. I just hope things are okay.
“He’ll be back soon. I’m sure he’s okay wherever he is. Have faith in your alpha.”
“I do. I just can’t help but worry.”
She nodded. “I understand.”
She came over to me and help me take off my gown. I had a nice warm evening bath and changed into my sleeping gown.
“Have you seen lady Alice since yesterday?” She asked me as I took an apple from the tray.
“No.” I said as I took a bite. “I don’t think I have any business with her.”
“I just couldn’t find her anywhere yesterday. She’s probably out of the pack but she told no one of her departure.”
I hummed. “She should have at least told someone.” I sighed. “What do I expect? She’s that inconsiderate.”
“If you feel bored, we can visit the market together tomorrow.” She said and I nodded.
“I knew you are so reliable.”
She flicked her hair. “It’s no news.” She said and I laughed.
“Where is Xena?”
“Lady Xena have been going out quite often these days. It’s as if she has one business to attend to out there.” She said and I hummed.
“Ah!” She beamed. “I remember seeing her with one man.”
My ears perked up. “m.. man?”
“Yeah. At first I thought he was her lover but turns out he wasn’t. It looked like they had some kind of business together.”
“How did the man look like?”
“He had wavy black hair.”
That description matches the feature of the man I saw her talking to when I first got here. I remember I was really suspicious of her because of that man. Seeing that they met again, they surely must have a business or two together.
“Is she at home right now?” I asked.
“Yeah. I’m sure she’ll leave early in the morning tomorrow again.”
I hummed. “Looks like I’ve got some spying to do in the morning.” I said and Raya giggles.
“Can I come with?”
“No. I’m going alone. You should stay back.” I said and she pouted sadly.
“Yes, your highness.”
“Anyway, you should go to sleep now. It’s quite late.”
“You’re right.” She said as she yawned. She stood up and walked to the door. “Goodnight, your highness.”
“Yeah. Sleep tight.”
She waved at me and walked out. I ate the remaining fruits and retired to bed after drinking water.
I woke up the next day feeling more refreshed. Was it the fruits? Probably. I washed up and dressed up for the day. I left my room and went to Xena’s. I knocked but I got no reply. I tried to open the door but it was locked. She’s not in.
I climbed down the stairs and thankfully, I saw her going toward the gate. I sneaked behind her and followed her quietly to wherever she was going. I followed her until we got to the pack market. I would hide whenever she looked back and mix with the crowd to go unnoticed. I had on a veil so no one could recognise me.
I quickly hid behind a cart when the man with wavy hair showed up. I know I sound like a pervert buy damn! He’s fine. Is he really her lover? They both entered a bar and I followed them in. I occupied the table behind them and acted as if I was ordering.
“Are you sure about this information? Remember what I told you that day you brought me the wrong info?” Xena said.
“You said you’d kill me.” The man replied.
“Good thing you remember.”
“Gosh, just take a look at the stuff first. You know, I should be the grumpy one here. You made me search for someone who is not easy to find.”
“You’re complaining as if you found him in the end.”
“True but still I got you a map. You should be grateful.”
Xena hissed and spread out the map. A waitress came me and asked me what I wanted to order.
“A cup of tea is okay.” I said to her.
“Coming right up, ma’am.”
The waitress left and I faced the two people I’m stalking.
“Looks like your boy is completely out of the pack. The people that saw him said he looked tattered and half-dead. Are you sure he is not dead?” The guy said.
“He’s not. I’m sure of it. Just keep looking and don’t call me except you have a new lead that’ll take us somewhere and not just a piece of paper.”
Who are they looking for? A he, huh? Is it Akira? Oh my days, is he missing?
“Here is your tea, ma’am.” The waitress said as she poured hot tea into a mug.
“Do you need anything else?” She asked and I waved my hand dismissively. I was so lost, I didn’t know I knocked the mug off her hand. The tea poured on my arm and I cried in pain.
“Oh my gosh, are you okay?”
“It hurts. Gosh, that tea is so hot.”
“Alexa?” I heard someone call and I raised my head. My eyes widened when I saw Xena standing in front of me, looking at me like I was crazy.
How did she recognize me? I raised my hand to my face and realized the veil was no longer there.
“What are you doing here?” She demanded and I smiled innocently.
“Well… uh…”
“Shit! Your hand is red!” She exclaimed as she took my arm.
“It’s fine. It’s just a small burn and-”
“Small my foot!” She pulled me to the sink and directed my arm under the tap.
“You’re so out of your mind, Alexa.” She scolded and I rolled my eyes.
“My arm is fine.” I said as I yanked my arm away from her grip. My eyes happened to land on the wavy haired guy.
“So I followed you two to satisfy my curiosity.” I said and Xena raised her brow.
“What were you curious about?”
“I thought you two were lovers or something. You know, I’ve never seen you have such personal relationship with a guy before so…”
The guy snorted and I threw him a inquisitive look. “what?”
“Sorry,” he said as he extended his hand. “My name is Xander. Nice to meet you.”
“So you’re really not her lover?” I asked and he shook his head. He turned to Xena and wiggled his brows. “Is she the one?”
Xena cleared her throat and shoved him out the way. “You need to go back to the palace. Right now.”
“No! Not until you tell me what you’re doing here with this… guy.”
“We’re doing nothing.”
“Come on, just answer.”
“Oh she’s too embarrassed to answer.” Xander said and I turned to Xena.
“Why?”
“Well, she’s searching for this guy named Riaz and apparently, they weren’t close so…”
“Ah…” I said in realization. “So that’s why you’ve been sneaking in and out of the palace? Gosh, you should have told me so we could look for him together.”
“Nah, her pride is too high for that.”
“Who is he to you?” I asked Xena.
“Well.. he’s my…”
“As I introduced earlier, my name is Xander, the only and most precious brother Xena has. She can’t do without me, you know?”
My eyes widened. “Bro… brother?”
Xena sighed and nodded.
“You never told me you had a brother.”
“You never told her about me?” Xander gasped.
“Well, you’re not worth talking about.” Xena said and Xander’s jaw fell in disbelief.
“It’s nice to meet you, Xander .”
“Same here, beautiful.”
Xena hit his head. “it’s your highness, you disrespectful pig!”
“No no, it’s fine. Speaking of which, you guys don’t resemble each other at all.”
“That’s because I took mum’s beautiful genes and she got stuck with dad’s ugly face.”
“Say that one more time and I’ll kill you, I swear.”
Gosh, they are really siblings.
Just then, I heard Cyan’s voice in my head.
“Alexa!”
“What?”
