Alexa’s Point Of View
“Where are you coming from?” He asked again as he came toward me.
“Uh…” I stuttered. I cleared my throat and took a step backward. “I just… went to the bathroom.” I said and he looked at me like I was crazy.
“Bathroom? Dressed like that? What? Did you perform a song for the soaps and shower?”
I shook my head. “If that’s not the case then what? And what’s with the cloak?”
I hummed as I scratched my head for a lie. “It’s new!” I blurted out.
“What?”
“Raya brought in new sets of cloaks for me so I thought I should try them out and walk around the palace with it.”
“Since when do you fancy flaunting your… cloaks?”
“Um…”
“Alexa?” He called as he came closer. I kept taking steps back until my back hit the wall. He leaned his hand against the wall and moved his face closer to mine.
His eyes searched mine and he chuckled. “I just can’t figure out what you’re thinking.”
I batted my eye lashes in confusion. “what… what do you mean?”
He sighed. “It was always easy for me to figure out your emotions since the beginning. I always knew how to work around your emotions and thoughts but right now, it’s proving difficult.”
“What…”
What is he saying? Working around my thoughts? What does he mean by figuring out my thoughts or what not? Don’t tell me…
“Have you… have you been listening to my thoughts?”
His expression changed and I frowned. “You’ve been hearing my thoughts? All this while?”
“Only for a short period of time.” He said and I scoffed in disbelief.
“So you mean… all this while… the… the nice things you’ve been doing for me, the surprises and all that, you mean you’ve only been doing them because you heard me think of them?”
“No, I..”
“Then what?” I shook my head and pushed him away from my front. “So… that was your plan all along. Listening to my thoughts, granting my wishes and making my heart sway for you, so I wouldn’t want to leave.”
“That was not my plan, at all.”
“Really? Are you sure that wasn’t your plan?”
“I… it was at first but-”
“Wow.”
“No, Alexa, listen to me. At first, I didn’t want you to leave, I admit I listened to your thoughts at first to find out what you think of me and grant your wishes but honestly, it all changed on the long run.”
“So if I didn’t find out today, were you going to tell me about this?”
“I was. I was planning to tell you on our mating ceremony night.”
“You mean the one your ex girlfriend ruined?”
“She is not my…”
I raised a brow and he sighed. “Will you stop talking about the past? If we start doing that the. I won’t shut up about this Lyell you kept mentioning when you first got here.” He said and I thinned my lips.
“Well…”
He raised his brow. “Well what?”
I sighed. “But roaming around my thoughts is still invasion of privacy.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I can’t even read it anymore.”
“Why?”
He shook his head. “I don’t know. I haven’t been able to read it since that night.” He said.
“You don’t sound disappointed.”
“Because I’m not. Hearing your thoughts everytime was a little bit draining. You always had something to think of at every second. And you think of the most absurd things sometimes.”
“I don’t have anyone to talk to so I mostly talk to myself. It’s an habit.”
He nodded. “A very tiring habit.” He took my hand and looked into my eyes. “I won’t ask you about where you went to or why you’re lying to me.”
“I-”
He placed his index finger across my lips. “Shh, don’t say anything. Whatever you’re doing, you clearly don’t want me to know so I won’t press to much but just he careful, hm?”
“I’ll tell you… when the time is right.”
He nodded. “I’m fine with that.” He said and I hugged him.
“Don’t be mad.”
“I’m not mad. Just be careful. Let Xena follow you wherever you wanna go. We don’t know what kind of trouble is out there waiting to strike.”
I nodded. “Thanks for understanding.”
“You’re welcome. Are you not sleepy? It’s quite late.”
“I am.”
“Wanna sleep with me?”
My face grew red. “Sl… sleep with you?”
He chuckled and shook his head. I patted my forehead and said, “where is your mind going? Let’s sleep side by side together.”
“I wasn’t thinking of anything.”
He raised his brow accusingly. “Really?”
I nodded. He hummed and leaned closer. “Actually, I don’t mind if what you’re thinking about happens tonight.” He whispered in my ear. Tingles shot up my spine as his lips brushed my earlobe.
“We’re not doing anything tonight.”
“If you insist.” He said and I shook my head. He’s such a teaser. I hit his shoulder and he feigned a cry.
He took my hand and pulled me along with him. I thought I saw someone’s shadow so I turned to take a look.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
I looked around. “I thought I saw someone.” I said.
“Who?” He asked as he searched around.
“Nevermind. Maybe it was just my imagination.” I said and he nodded. He took my hand once again and pulled me to his room. He went to the dressing mirror and took off his wrist watch.
“Are you gonna keep watching me or you’ll get dressed for the night? I don’t think you’d be comfortable in your… cloak.”
“You’re gonna keep teasing me, huh?” I said and he chuckled.
“Yeah.”
I shook my head and took off my cloak. I pulled out my hair accessories and my hair fell down my back. I reached for the back of my dress to undo the lace but I couldn’t reach it.
“Akira… can you help me with this?” I asked as I pulled my hair up out of the way.
“Yeah.”
He came to me and stopped behind me. He held the tail of the lace and began to undo it. My heart skipped a beat as his fingers brushed my bare back. As he undid up upward, my heart race increased.
He suddenly stopped.
“Are you… are you done?” I asked him as I tried to turn but he held me in place.
“It’s proving difficult, Alexa.”
“Wh… what?”
“Holding back. It’s… it’s difficult.”
He turned me to face him. “Alexa…” He said under his breath and I gulped.
“It’s better I sleep outside tonight.”
What? No no. Wait.
“I don’t know what I’ll do if I stayed.”
Um…
Alexa, tell him to stay! Tell him to stay!
I watched in disappointment as he walked out of the room. Gosh, what’s so hard in telling him to stay?
