Alexa’s Point Of View
I thought he was just angry.
I thought he would let me out when he cooled down but I was wrong.
He was being serious.
I’ve been locked up in this room for two days and nights. The only people entering this place are maids to prepare my bath and cooks to bring my food. Other than those set of people, no other person has visited me. Did he forbid them from coming?
I sighed tiredly and rested my head on the window frame. My newly discovered hobby – staring out of the window in loneliness. Tch! That darn alpha. So heartless. Well, what do I expect from a vampire? I can’t believe he locked me up here without visiting once!
“What if alpha sees us?”
“He can’t. He’s with Luna Mother,”
“You better not let Xena hear you call her that. She might skin you alive.”
“She knows she can’t. Jeez, get hold of the cub!”
Those whispers resemble Riaz and Ace’s voices. My ears perked up when I heard Cyan’s little howl. Oh! Thank goodness he’s safe. The dangling of keys followed and the door clicked. The door was pushed open slowly and they stepped inside.
“Alexa!” Riaz beamed silently as he rushed to me with Cyan in his arms. He engulfed me in a bone-crushing hug.
“Ow ow ow. I’m still sore. I’m still sore!”
“Oops, sorry,” he let me go and giggled happily.
“Gosh I was so worried,” he cooed. Cyan barked excitedly and I carried him.
“Thank the moon you’re okay, Cyan, I thought I lost you,”
I pecked his head and he snuggled against my neck.
“Hey, princess.”
“Hi, Ace.”
“I see you’re not dead.” He said dryly. “Xena would be disappointed,” he joked and I chuckled.
“Too bad I don’t die that easily,” I said and he grinned.
“Are you okay in here?” He asked.
“Does it look like I am? Does your alpha know you’re here?”
“He’d kill us if he knew,” Riaz replied. “He ordered everyone not to visit you,”
“Your alpha is quite heartless,” I said and Ace chuckled.
“He is not. If you ask me, he cares about you.”
“So do you lock up the person you care about? Huh, Ace?”
He smiled, “I admit he’s lacking in some areas but to be fair, you almost drove him crazy with worry. He told you to stay put.” He said as a matter of fact.
“That doesn’t warrant being locked up like a criminal,” Riaz argued. “Would you do that to someone you care so much about? I doubt you have someone like that. You keep changing women every day like they are clothes,” Riaz judged.
He sounded annoyed about that.
“Who told you I don’t have someone I care about?”
“You don’t,”
“I do.” Ace pressed.
“Who?” Riaz yelled at him.
“Someone,” Ace yelled back.
“Just tell me, who?” Riaz yelled again.
“You!”
The room went into an awkward pin-drop silence. Cyan and I exchanged confused glances.
Wow, this is such prime drama. I could watch this all day.
Riaz’s face is as purple as a beet right now. Ace tucked his hands in his pocket and looked away awkwardly from Riaz.
“Um… I mean… I basically raised you. You’re like my brother so…” Hearing the word ‘brother’, Riaz’s expression changed to an angry one.
He was about to say something when Ace suddenly spoke. “I have something to do downstairs. Um… see you later, Alexa,”
“Bye, Ace.”
He waved at me and glanced at Riaz, who had his back turned to him. Ace walked to the door and exited without another word. When Ace left, Riaz huffed in frustration and went to sit on the bed.
“Care to tell me what’s going on between you two?” I asked as I went to sit beside him.
“I’m the dumb one, Alexa.” He whined.
“What do you mean?”
“I… well um… I like Ace,” he whispered and I giggled.
“I know.”
He shook his head in regret. “was I that obvious?”
“Yeah. But I don’t think it’s obvious to the big guy,”
He rolled his eyes. “Tell me about it.” He sighed. “It might sound crazy but I’ve liked him since the very first day I met him. Though I didn’t know I had feelings for him back then, I got to understand years later.”
“Why don’t you just tell him?”
He pursed his lips. “it’s not that easy. I don’t even know if he likes men. I don’t know if he likes me.” He stressed. “I’ve only been seeing him with women since I met him and I don’t want it to seem as if I’m forcing my feelings on him.”
“You’re right, it’s risky. How old is Ace?”
“Twenty-four,” he replied and I hummed.
“What of your age?”
He hesitated for a moment before replying. “Eighteen,” he replied sheepishly and my jaw fell.
“Eighteen?” I exclaimed and he placed his finger across my lips.
“I’m nineteen in a month,” he argued.
“Doesn’t make a difference. He’s still seven years older.”
“Alpha is five years older than you are,”
“Well…”
“You aren’t so different from me then,”
I sighed. “Of course, age is just a number but you have to understand that Ace might not view it like that. He’s a full-grown adult while you’re just a new adult,”
“I’m more mature than I seem,” he defended.
“Says who?”
“Says me.”
He rolled his eyes and slumped on the bed. “I’m just tired of him taking me as a kid. A little brother! He doesn’t see me as me. He still sees me as the little wolf he saved seven years ago.”
“Then show him you’re no more a kid,”
“How?”
“How about you stop being timid when you’re with him?” He frowned and I raised my hand in defense. “I didn’t mean it as an insult, it is a fact. You act like a little kid with him so why wouldn’t he take you as a kid? Show him the grown Riaz you want to be seen as,”
He sat up and frowned in determination. “Okay. Show him the grown Riaz, got it!”
He stood up abruptly and walked to the door.
“Where are you going?”
“It’s a secret,” he winked at me before exiting excitedly. Look at his little jumps. He wants to be seen as mature but he acts so cutely.
I shook my head and walked to the window with Cyan in my arms.
“We’re back to this,” I said as I sat by the window. Just then, I heard the door open.
“Why? You’re back? Did you get rejected already?” I mocked as I turned, only to see the person I least expected.
After two days he’s finally showing his dumb face.
