Akira’s Point Of View
“You know you can just go to her if you miss her that much,” Mum’s voice snapped me out of my trance.
“How long have you been standing there?” I asked her and she came in fully.
“Long enough to know that you’ve been pacing for about three minutes now. It’s refreshing to see your worried face once in a while,”
I sighed deeply and she took a sit on one of the chairs. “You’ve had her locked in there for two days,”
“She deserves it. I clearly told her not to endanger herself,”
“She’s not a pet, Akira. She’s her own person,”
“Well, a person should know when to listen to instructions that are ensuring her safety,” I argued.
“You should understand her.”
“She doesn’t understand me.”
She shook her head. “You’re both too stubborn to listen to each other.” I got up and walked to the door. “Understanding a woman doesn’t require force or strictness, son. You should go see her. I’m sure she misses you too,” she said before leaving.
Miss me?
Alexa?
Well, there is only one way to find out. I took off my coat and walked out of my office. What could she be doing right now? Probably cussing me out. On the way to her room, I found Isabella coming out of her room.
“Isa,” I called and she turned. Her face lit up when she saw me.
“Alpha!” She beamed, running into my arms. She got to me and I picked her up.
“Where did you go? I’ve been looking everywhere for you,”
“Sorry, something came up.”
“What of Alexa?”
I cleared my throat. “She’s in her room.”
“Sleeping?”
Yeah, let’s go with that. I nodded and she sighed. “I don’t wanna disturb her. I’ll go see her when she wakes up.”
“Were you on your way somewhere?” I asked and she nodded.
“I’m going down to eat. I’m famished,” she said cutely and I smiled.
“Run along now. Don’t keep them waiting,”
She nodded and I put her down. She waved at me before climbing down the stairs. I resumed my walk to Alexa’s room.
“You can do this, Lyell,” I braced myself before pushing down the door handle. She had her back facing me and her ginger curls flowed down her back. Even from behind, she puts Aphrodite to shame. She’s just so perfect.
My mate.
My Alexa.
“Why? You’re back? Did you get rejected already?” She asked. She must think I am someone else. Her cute eyes widened in surprise as she turned and saw me.
“You…” She trailed off, eyeing me in shock. She looked away from me and turned back to the window.
“Why are you here?” She asked without facing me.
“Isn’t it obvious what I’m here for?”
“To check if I’m still alive? Well, I’m not dead as you can see. You can go now.”
‘It’s not as if you even care’ I heard her thoughts. She’s sulking. How cute. I walked toward her and stopped behind her. Her body stiffened as I held her shoulder.
“Wh… what are you doing?” She asked shakily.
“Go out to dinner with me tonight.”
“Dinner?” She tried turning but I stopped her from doing so. If I see her face I don’t know what I might do.
“Yes.”
“That’s… I wasn’t expecting that at all. What’s the occasion?”
“You’ll know once you show up. If it’s left up to me, I would just bundle you to dinner with me but I guess that doesn’t work for you. You only get even more stubborn.”
“What are you saying?”
“I’m saying you’re free to decide. Whether you wanna come or not. I won’t force you.” I let go of her shoulders and she turned to face me. My heart skipped a beat the moment she stared at me softly with those enchanting honey eyes.
“Did something happen to you the past couple of days? You’re not one to let me have my way,”
I stepped closer to her such that our bodies touched. “I almost lost you because I didn’t let you have your way,” I said bitterly. “I will go crazy if something like that happens again.”
She opened her mouth to speak but I placed my finger across her lips. “Say whatever you want to say tonight. At dinner.” I said, before taking my finger off her lips. I moved away from her and walked to the door. I glanced at her one last time before exiting.
I walked back to my room and sat on the bed.
“WILL MATE COME?” Dex voiced out what I was thinking. Honestly, I don’t know. I hope she does.

“Are you nervous?” Mum asked as she helped me with my tie.
“I’m not,”
“You’re fiddling with your ring, Akira. You couldn’t be any more obvious,”
I sighed and let go of my ring. She adjusted my jacket and stared lovingly at me.
“You look so handsome.”
“Of course I do,” I said smugly and she chuckled.
“Are you ready to accept whatever the outcome would be?” She asked the same question that has been pondering in my mind all day. Was I ready to accept whatever the night brings?
“I promised her I would accept whatever her decision may be,” I said and she smiled sadly.
“She’ll show up. I believe it,” she said and I nodded. She pecked my forehead and pulled me into a hug.
“Go get her,”
I pecked her cheek and exited the room. I met Ace, Riaz, and Xena by the door. Riaz was looking all excited while Ace was looking so proud of his friend. Xena, of course, had a blank expression.
“You look so handsome, alpha!” Riaz beamed and I smiled.
“Thanks,”
“You’re the most handsome man I’ve ever met. Surely she’ll fall for you at first sight!”
Ace scoffed. “The most handsome? He’s average if you ask me.”
“Well, I never did.” Riaz retorted and Xena cackled.
Ace looked taken aback for a second. Well, I would be if I were him. Riaz never talks to Ace like that. He’s most timid around him. I wonder what changed.
“Let’s go get you your girl, Akira,” Riaz said as he linked his arm with mine. Riaz left me at the entrance of the garden, which had been previously decorated for the date. I went to the table and took a seat, impatiently waiting for my mate.
Twenty minutes passed and she still haven’t shown up. An hour passed. Two hours. The sky got darker and darker every minute. And the lit candles were almost melted. Is this it? Is this the end?
Maybe she isn’t coming for real.
I blew off the candlelight and rose from my seat, ready to leave when I heard the quick clicking of heels.
“I’m so sorry!” She yelled as she came to a stop in front of me. Her chest rose and fell as she breathed heavily.
“I was going to come early but then my dress got messed up and my hair almost got burnt by candle wax and…” She let out a deep breath. “I didn’t mean to be late.”
She’s magnificent.
“The preparations got messed up and see! I didn’t even get to pack my hair well and..”
“It’s perfect,” I said and she stopped talking. She batted her eyelashes in confusion.
“Huh?”
“Your hair…” I said. “it’s perfect. You are perfect.”
“But I didn’t even get to wear the dress you prepared for me and…”
I couldn’t stop myself.
I drew her closer by her waist and planted my lips on hers.
