A coma forever!
The words hit Emily with a chill passing through her entire body.
Liam was a little be soften seeing her out of her wits. However, if he gave up now, all previous efforts would be wasted.
At that moment, Liam received a phone call. He returned to Emily. “Miss Emily, there’s someone here to see you.”
One of Liam’s men walked Emily out of the room.
There was only when Liam and Hunter in the room, the former felt a tingling sensation on his scalp.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, what I said just now is not to tarnish your image, but to make Miss Emily feel a little heartache for you.”
His forehead drenched with sweat. The charm of Eldest Young Master could make a person feel uneasy even when he was asleep!
Hunter opened his eyes and gave a cold gaze to Liam, while Liam was too scared to breathe.
He panicked and stammered, “I have done a lot of researches. It is said that it is easier for a man to gain a woman’s sympathy when he is sick or weak.”
Hunter grunted, sat up, then pulled the blanket off him. He got down from the bed and went to the bathroom. A few moments later, he came out with his body was still cold.
Liam whispered, “Eldest Young Master, how long do you want to pretend to be fainted?”
“Hmm?”
“I mean, how long do you intend to continue sleeping?”
What a stupid question! How could the wise and noble Eldest Young Master stoop so low as to fake unconsciousness? He just accidentally ‘slept’ a little longer.
“How she reacted?” Hunter sat back on the bed and covered himself with the blanket. The sickness went away but only arrogance left.
“Miss Emily was frightened, of course. Her face had turned pale.”
Hunter’s heart ached a little; he could not bear she was in fear.
Liam continued, “It is not a virtuous thing to lie to Miss Emily, but I can see she still cares about you, Eldest Young Master.”
“Was there any doubt about that?”
“Sure. Sure not. Eldest Young Master knows best.” Liam wiped beads of cold sweat from his forehead.
However, after he interrupted the conversation, and Liam stopped saying, he still felt like he wanted to know more.
“What else? How much did she care?”
“She was flustered when she heard about the difficulties you went through the past two years…”
“What difficulties?”
Liam paused. What a man! Did Hunter want to be fake in front of him, too?
Everyone saw Eldest Young Master’s bitterness in the past two years. Nevertheless, Liam still chose his words very carefully.
“Anyhow. Excuse my words, but maybe you could put in a little more effort, Eldest Young Master. You need to fake being weaker and frailer…”
“Do I need to fake anything?”
“Of course not. Sure, you are not faking anything. What I meant was that you need to sleep a little bit more…”
Liam had not finished his words when they heard footsteps outside the door. Liam got nervous and rushed to have a look.
After he confirmed it was not Emily, he turned to Hunter. “Eldest Young Master, it’s not…”
What was Eldest Young Master doing?
Just a moment ago, the proud man refused to fake. Well now he laid motionless on the bed with his eyes closed, playing dead.
Liam was speechless.
Didn’t he say there is no need to fake? What did he do just then?
…
Joseph was the last man Emily would like to see in the hallway.
She panicked, and her instinct was to escape at the first moment she saw Joseph!
Joseph seemed to have expected that, and he stood in front of her straightly.
“Emily, do you think that I won not find you again if you run away from me now?”
Nevertheless, she did quite well in hiding herself.
If it were not for Wendy’s arrest and the police there contacted the police in City L, he would not have known where she locates.
Two years past. Did she want to continue to hide from her family?
Emily stared at him as her fingers trembled anxiously.
It has been two years. Joseph looked like he had lost a lot of weight, and gloomy. It seemed he had gone through a lot.
She bit her lip and managed to be calm in ten seconds.
Finally, she was composed. She looked at Joseph, and there was hoarseness in her voice when she spoke.
“Brother Joseph.”
Joseph’s heart ached as he pulled her into his arms and held her tight. Emily was shocked, and she struggled to push him away.
“Don’t be scared! I am not afraid of how the public thinks of us. I am afraid of nothing! We are families. Emily, do not keep those shadows in your heart. We have done nothing wrong. We do not have to be afraid of anything!”
Emily almost cried when she heard that.
She has been terrified. Nothing had happened between Joseph, her eldest cousin, and her; they were drugged and framed. The fake videos and photographs were everywhere on the Internet.
She was scared that the same thing would happen again, if some paparazzi saw them right now as her cousin hugged her. People would gossip their immoral relationship that tarnish the Gale family’s reputation.
She was so scared that it would happen.
“Don’t be afraid.” Joseph gently patted her on the back and only released her when she had calmed down.
He hardly recognized her in her disguise. Joseph felt uncomfortable. He hated himself because he had been so helpless and weak back then.
“It’s all my fault…”
“No, that’s my fault.” After two years of peaceful days, Emily had been in turmoil in just two days.
“No. None of us did anything wrong.” Joseph held onto her arm with a solemn look on his face.
“It was the people who wanted to hurt us. It was their fault. My only fault was I could not protect you well at that time. We should not blame ourselves, okay? Emily, come home with me. We are waiting for you.”
Emily shook her head and pushed him slightly. “Brother Joseph, I am good and peaceful to live in there.”
He knew what they would have to face if she were to return to them. He should be very clear about that.
“But it is your home. Would you never come home?”
Joseph surely knew how difficult it would be for her to return home. If the granddaughter were to return to the Gale family, it would inevitably kick up a violent storm. She would have to face much more than she could ever imagine.
“Emily, Grandfather is not as well as before, and his condition is deteriorating.”
Hearing that, Emily immediately swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue.
Her grandfather’s health…
As she drifted around in the past two years, she still followed the news in City L. No big news about her family, which meant that her grandfather was fine. At least, he was still alive.
Old Master Gale was a prominent figure. Every major media in City L would rush to report it if anything were to happen to him.
Nonetheless, no big news only meant that her grandfather was alive. She was not so sure if he was in a condition as good as before.
She was helpless as Joseph said those words. She was so desperate to see her grandfather, but her returning home would drag her family down with her.
“You know Grandfather well, and you know what is the most important thing to him.”
“No, I don’t…”
“Yes, you do!” Joseph grabbed her by her shoulders. “Emily, you do know!”
Emily bit her lips and remained silent. She knew! She had always known about that!
For her grandfather, nothing was more important that a reunited family.
However, if she did go home, the Gale family’s reputation would be affected. Her grandfather and the entire Gale family would have to live under the pressure of public opinions.
“There is nothing that we can’t get through. Even Younger Aunt, who committed such a huge blunder and wanted to take her own life, finally chose to face it, did she not?”
Joseph stared at her pale face with his voice gentle but affirmed.
“You said it yourself, as long as our family is together, we can get through anything.”
“We will get through it, Emily. As long as we stay together as a family!”
