CH 98.
Emily stormed out of the hospital, her heart racing with anger and jealousy. How dare Andrianne show up and act like she had any right to be by Lucas’s side! Emily’s fists were clenched so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, leaving angry red marks. She got into her car and slammed the door shut, turning the key in the ignition with a vicious twist.
As she drove away from the hospital, Emily could feel the anger boiling inside her. She kept replaying the scene in her head – Andrianne standing by Lucas’s side, looking so beautiful and caring. Emily couldn’t bear the thought of Lucas choosing Andrianne over her. She had been so sure that she had won his heart, but now she wasn’t so sure.
Emily’s mind was a blur of anger and confusion. She couldn’t believe that Lucas would still have feelings for Andrianne after everything she had put him through. But then again, Emily had never truly understood their relationship. She had always seen Andrianne as a threat, but maybe there was more to it than that.
As Emily drove down the highway, she felt a tear roll down her cheek. She wiped it away angrily, refusing to let herself cry over Lucas. She knew that she had to be strong, even if it meant pushing her feelings aside.
But despite her best efforts, Emily couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that had settled in her stomach. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Andrianne was a threat to everything she had built with Lucas, and that she needed to do something to protect it.
Emily sat on the couch in the living room, deep in thought. She needed a way out of this mess. The accident had only made things worse, and she couldn’t afford to stay with Lucas anymore. She needed to leave, but she also needed money.
As she sat there, she thought of all the ways she could make some quick cash. She could sell some of the expensive furniture in the house or take some of Lucas’s jewelry and sell it. But then, she realized that these options wouldn’t give her enough money to start over somewhere else.
Emily needed a more long-term plan, something that would ensure she had enough money to live comfortably. She considered finding a job, but she didn’t want to work. She wanted to live the high life, and that wasn’t possible on a minimum wage salary.
Then, it hit her. She could ask Lucas for money. He was rich, and he owed her for everything she had done for him. She smiled at the thought, feeling proud of herself for coming up with such a clever plan.
Emily knew she had to play her cards right. She needed to act nice towards Lucas until he fully recovered, so he wouldn’t suspect anything. She decided to cook him his favorite meals and take care of him until he was back on his feet. Then, when the time was right, she would ask him for a large sum of money, enough to start over somewhere else.
Feeling pleased with herself, Emily stood up and went to the kitchen to start cooking. She was determined to make this plan work, no matter what.
*************************
Andrianne sat in a chair beside Lucas’s bed, her eyes never leaving his face. She held his hand tightly, as if by sheer force of will she could bring him back to her. The steady beep of the heart monitor was the only sound in the room, and Andrianne’s heart ached as she watched the rise and fall of Lucas’s chest.
She couldn’t help but think of the past, of all the moments they had shared together, of the love they had once shared. Even with Emily’s pregnancy, Andrianne couldn’t bring herself to hate Lucas. She loved him too deeply, and she knew that he loved her too.
Tears threatened to fall from her eyes, and she blinked them away, trying to stay strong. She knew that Lucas was in a critical condition, and she couldn’t bear the thought of losing him. Not now, not ever.
She leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss on his forehead. “Please, Lucas,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “Please come back to me. I need you.”
As she sat there, lost in her thoughts, Andrianne couldn’t help but wonder about Emily. She knew that Emily was still in the picture, and she couldn’t ignore the fact that she was carrying Lucas’s child. But for now, Andrianne didn’t want to think about it. She just wanted Lucas to be well, and she would deal with everything else later.
Hours passed, and Andrianne refused to leave Lucas’s side. She only stepped out of the room when the nurses needed to check on him, but she always rushed back in as soon as she could. She felt a sense of guilt that she wasn’t there for Lucas when he got into the accident, and she knew that she had to make it up to him.
Andrianne’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. She looked up to see a doctor and a nurse walking towards her.
“Miss Andrianne,” the doctor said, his voice gentle. “I’m Dr. Matthews. I’ve been looking after Lucas since he was brought in.”
Andrianne stood up, her eyes focused on the doctor. “How is he?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The doctor sighed. “Lucas’s condition is critical. He suffered severe injuries in the accident, and we’re doing everything we can to stabilize him. But we need to operate on him urgently. The surgery is risky, and there’s a chance that he might not make it.”
Andrianne’s heart sank, and she felt a wave of despair wash over her. She couldn’t bear the thought of losing Lucas, not now, not ever.
“Please, do everything you can,” she pleaded, her voice shaking. “I can’t lose him. I just can’t.”
The doctor nodded. “We’ll do our best. We’ll keep you updated on his condition.”
Andrianne sat back down in the chair, her eyes fixed on Lucas’s face. She held his hand tightly, praying that he would make it through the surgery. She couldn’t imagine a life without him, and she knew that she would do anything to keep him by her side.
As the hours passed, Andrianne sat by Lucas’s bedside, never leaving him alone. She held his hand tightly, her heart aching with every beep of the heart monitor. She prayed silently, willing Lucas to make it through the surgery.
Andrianne knew that the road ahead would be long and difficult, but she was determined to see it through. She loved Lucas deeply, and she would do anything to keep him by her side.
