Chapter 96
The ambulance siren blared as it screeched to a halt in front of the wrecked car. The paramedics jumped out of the vehicle, rushing to Lucas’s aid. They could see that he was badly injured and needed immediate medical attention.
One of the paramedics knelt beside Lucas, checking his pulse and vitals. “We need to get him to the hospital immediately,” he said to his colleagues. They carefully lifted Lucas onto a stretcher and carried him to the ambulance.
Inside the ambulance, the paramedics worked frantically to stabilize Lucas’s condition. They hooked him up to various machines, monitoring his heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. Lucas was barely conscious, muttering Andrianne’s name over and over again.
The ambulance sped through the city streets, weaving in and out of traffic, its siren blaring loudly to clear the way. Lucas’s condition was critical, and they needed to get him to the hospital as quickly as possible.
As they arrived at the hospital, the paramedics rushed Lucas into the emergency room, where a team of doctors and nurses were waiting for him. They quickly assessed his condition and began to work on him.
The doctors ordered multiple tests, including X-rays and scans, to determine the extent of his injuries. They found that he had suffered several broken bones, including his left arm and leg. He had also sustained a head injury and was bleeding internally.
Lucas was rushed into surgery, where the doctors worked for hours to repair the damage. It was touch and go for a while, but eventually, they were able to stabilize his condition.
Emily sat alone in the living room of Lucas’s mansion, seething with anger. Lucas had been gone all night, and she couldn’t help but wonder where he was. Was he with Andrianne? Had he left her alone in this big empty house just to be with his wife?
Emily’s mind raced with possibilities, and she could feel the anger building inside of her. She got up from the couch and began pacing back and forth, her long blonde hair whipping back and forth behind her.
“Why does he have to be so damn difficult?” she muttered to herself. “Why can’t he just see that I’m the one who loves him?”
But even as she said the words, Emily knew that they weren’t true. She didn’t love Lucas, not really. She was just using him as a means to an end, a way to get what she wanted.
And what she wanted was power, and money, and everything that came along with being Lucas’s wife. She wanted to be the one in control, the one who made all the decisions, the one who got to live the life of luxury that she had always dreamed of.
But now, with Lucas missing and Andrianne back in the picture, Emily’s dreams were in danger of falling apart. She couldn’t let that happen. She had to find a way to keep Lucas by her side, no matter what it took.
As she paced back and forth, lost in thought, the doorbell suddenly rang. Emily’s heart leapt in her chest. Could it be Lucas?
She hurried to the door and threw it open, but it wasn’t Lucas standing on the other side. It was a police officer.
“Ma’am, are you Emily?” the officer asked.
“Yes, I am,” Emily replied, her heart racing.
“I’m sorry to inform you that there’s been an accident. Mr. Lucas was involved in a car crash last night and he’s currently in the hospital.”
Emily’s mouth fell open in shock. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“Is he okay?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I don’t have any details on his condition, ma’am. But you should go to the hospital right away. He’s asking for you.”
Emily nodded numbly, her mind racing with fear and uncertainty. She knew that this was a pivotal moment in her relationship with Lucas, and she didn’t know what was going to happen next.
But one thing was for sure – she was going to do whatever it took to keep him by her side. No matter what.
Emily rushed upstairs to her bedroom, her heart pounding as she changed her clothes. She knew she had to hurry to get to the hospital to see Lucas. She was still seething with anger that he wasn’t home when she woke up, but her concern for him outweighed her anger.
As she got dressed, her mind raced with thoughts of what could have happened to Lucas. She couldn’t bear the thought of losing him, not after everything they had been through. She couldn’t help but wonder if he had gone to be with Andrianne. The thought made her blood boil.
Once she was dressed, she grabbed her car keys and rushed out the door. The police were already waiting for her outside the mansion. Emily quickly got into her car, and the police car led the way as they made their way to the hospital.
As she drove, Emily’s mind was filled with worry and anxiety. She couldn’t stop thinking about Lucas, and she felt a knot forming in her stomach. She was praying that he would be alright.
When they arrived at the hospital, Emily parked her car and rushed inside. She found her way to the emergency room, where Lucas was being treated. She saw him lying in the hospital bed, looking pale and weak. Emily’s heart sank, and tears welled up in her eyes.
“Lucas, oh my God, are you okay?” Emily asked, her voice choked with emotion.
Lucas looked up at her weakly and tried to speak, but his voice was barely audible. Emily leaned in closer to hear him.
“Andrianne,” he muttered.
“What about Andrianne, Lucas? What happened?” Emily asked, confused.
Lucas didn’t respond, and Emily knew that he was in no condition to talk. She took his hand in hers and squeezed it gently.
“It’s okay, Lucas. You’re going to be alright. Just focus on getting better,” she said softly.
Emily stayed by Lucas’s side for hours, waiting for him to wake up. She couldn’t help but think about Andrianne, and she felt a pang of jealousy and anger. She knew that she had to push those feelings aside for now and focus on Lucas.
As she sat there, she thought about how much she loved Lucas and how much he meant to her. She promised herself that she would do everything in her power to make him happy and keep him safe.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Lucas began to stir. Emily watched as he opened his eyes and looked around the room. She smiled at him, relieved that he was finally awake.
“Lucas, thank God you’re awake,” she said, tears streaming down her face.
Lucas looked at her weakly and tried to speak, but he was still struggling to form words. Emily leaned in closer to hear him.
“Andrianne,” he muttered again.
Emily’s heart sank. She knew that Andrianne was still on his mind, and she didn’t know how to feel about that. She just wanted Lucas to get better and come back to her.
“I know, Lucas. Andrianne will be okay. You just need to focus on getting better,” Emily said, trying to comfort him.
Lucas nodded weakly, and Emily could see the pain in his eyes. She knew that he was going to need a lot of support and love to get through this. And she was determined to be there for him every step of the way.
