CH 95.
Lucas felt like he had been punched in the stomach. Andrianne had come to the house and he hadn’t even known. And to make matters worse, Emily was the reason why Andrianne had run out. He clenched his jaw, trying to suppress the anger that was bubbling up inside him.
“What do you mean she came to the house?” Lucas asked Johnson, his voice laced with annoyance.
“She came here yesterday morning, sir. I believe she spoke to Miss Emily and then ran out when she saw her,” Johnson replied calmly, even though he could sense the tension in the air.
Lucas slammed his hand on the table, causing the plates and utensils to rattle. “And you didn’t think it was important enough to come and tell me right away?” he snapped at Johnson.
“I apologize, sir. I thought you were still sleeping,” Johnson said, his voice remaining calm despite Lucas’s outburst.
Lucas took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He knew it wasn’t Johnson’s fault, but he needed someone to blame. Andrianne was the only person he wanted to see and talk to, but now she was gone again. He felt like he was losing her, and there was nothing he could do about it.
“What did Emily say to her?” Lucas asked, trying to control the tremble in his voice.
“I’m not sure, sir. Miss Emily didn’t say anything to me about it,” Johnson said.
Lucas sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. He knew he had to talk to Emily about this, but he didn’t even want to look at her right now. He got up from the table and headed towards the door.
“Cancel my meetings for the day, Johnson. I need to take care of something,” Lucas said, his voice low and tight.
“Very well, sir,” Johnson replied, watching Lucas leave with a heavy heart.
Lucas stormed up the stairs, each step making the wooden floorboards creak under his weight. He could feel his blood boiling and his heart pounding in his chest. Emily was still lying in bed, looking at him with a mix of fear and confusion.
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” Lucas bellowed, his voice echoing through the room. “Why did you have to chase Andrianne away like that?”
Emily sat up in bed, clutching the blankets to her chest. “I didn’t chase her away,” she protested weakly. “She left on her own.”
“Don’t lie to me!” Lucas growled, taking a step towards her. “You know damn well that you’re the reason she left. If you hadn’t been here, if you hadn’t been throwing yourself at me, she wouldn’t have run off like that.”
Emily recoiled as Lucas loomed over her, his eyes flashing with anger. She had never seen him like this before, and it scared her. “Lucas, please calm down,” she pleaded. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I love you, and I just wanted to be with you.”
“Love me?” Lucas sneered, his lip curling in disgust. “You don’t know the first thing about love. All you care about is yourself, and you’re willing to hurt anyone who gets in your way. Well, congratulations. You got what you wanted. Andrianne’s gone, and now you have me all to yourself.”
With that, Lucas turned on his heel and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Emily sat there for a moment, trembling and on the verge of tears. She knew that she had made a mistake, a big one, and now she had pushed Lucas away too.
Meanwhile, Lucas was pacing back and forth in his bedroom, his mind racing with anger and regret. He knew that he had made a terrible mistake by sleeping with Emily, and now he was paying the price. He had lost the woman he loved, and he had no one to blame but himself.
He walked over to his dresser and opened the top drawer, pulling out a framed picture of him and Andrianne on their wedding day. They both looked so happy, so in love. Lucas traced his fingers over Andrianne’s face, feeling a pang of regret and longing.
“I’m so sorry, Andrianne,” he whispered to the picture. “I never meant to hurt you. Please forgive me.”
But he knew that it wasn’t that simple. He had hurt her deeply, and it was going to take more than a simple apology to make things right again. He needed to figure out how to win her back, how to prove to her that he was worthy of her love and trust.
With a heavy heart, Lucas put the picture back in the drawer and closed it. He knew that he had a lot of work to do, and it was going to take time and patience to make things right again. But he was determined to do whatever it took to get Andrianne back in his life.
As Lucas drove on the highway, he couldn’t get Andrianne out of his mind. He was so consumed with anger and guilt that he didn’t realize he was driving at a dangerous speed. The wind was blowing hard, making it difficult for him to maintain control of his car. Suddenly, he heard a loud honk from another vehicle on the road, but before he could react, he lost control of the car.
The car skidded off the road, and Lucas tried to regain control, but it was too late. The car hit a tree, and Lucas felt a sharp pain in his chest. The impact was so intense that the airbag failed to deploy, and he hit his head on the steering wheel.
Lucas tried to move, but his body felt numb. Blood was oozing from his forehead, and he felt a sharp pain in his leg. He realized he was badly injured, and his breathing became shallow. He tried to open the door, but it was jammed, and he couldn’t move.
Lucas felt a sense of helplessness, and tears started rolling down his cheeks. He wished he could turn back the hands of time and change everything that had happened. He knew he had hurt Andrianne badly, and he regretted it deeply.
As he lay there, he felt his eyes getting heavy, and he knew he was losing consciousness. The pain was becoming unbearable, and he felt his body slowly shutting down. He closed his eyes and prayed for forgiveness, hoping that he would wake up from this nightmare.
Hours later, a passerby noticed the wrecked car and immediately called for an ambulance. The emergency services arrived at the scene, and they found Lucas unconscious. They quickly extracted him from the wreckage and rushed him to the hospital.
Lucas had suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured leg, broken ribs, and a severe concussion. The doctors rushed him to the emergency room, where they stabilized him. He was then taken to the intensive care unit, where he remained in a critical condition.
As Lucas lay there, fighting for his life, he realized how much he had taken for granted. He realized how much he had hurt Andrianne and wished he could turn back the hands of time. He made a promise to himself that if he survived this ordeal, he would make amends with Andrianne and be a better person.
