CH 79.
Andrianne woke up with a start as the butler, Johnson gently nudged her. She rubbed her eyes and sat up, looking disoriented.
“Good morning, Madam. I’m sorry to wake you up so early. I hope you slept well?” Johnson said, with a concerned expression.
Andrianne blinked a few times to get her bearings, and then responded, “No, Johnson. I didn’t sleep well. Lucas didn’t come home last night.”
The butler’s expression turned sympathetic. “I’m sorry to hear that, Madam. Would you like me to bring you some breakfast?”
Andrianne shook her head. “No, thank you, Johnson. I’m not hungry.” She paused for a moment before asking, “Did he call? Or leave a message?”
Johnson shook his head. “I’m afraid not, Madam.”
Andrianne’s heart sank. She had stayed up all night waiting for Lucas to come home, and he hadn’t even bothered to call or leave a message. She felt a lump form in her throat and tears started to well up in her eyes. She got up from the couch and walked to her room, her head hung low.
Once in her room, Andrianne collapsed onto her bed and cried. She felt so disappointed, so betrayed. After all they had been through, she had thought that Lucas would never do anything to hurt her. But now she wasn’t so sure.
As she cried, memories of their past flooded her mind. She thought of the day they first met, the day they got married, the day he was acquitted, and all the times they had spent together. She remembered how happy they were and how much they had loved each other.
But now everything seemed to be falling apart. Andrianne wondered if she had made a mistake by trusting Lucas so completely. She feared the worst-case scenario, that Lucas had been in an accident or worse. She prayed that he was alright.
After a while, Andrianne finally cried herself to sleep. It was a restless sleep, filled with dreams of Lucas being in danger, but she clung to the hope that he would return soon.
***************************
Lucas groaned as he opened his eyes, trying to make sense of his surroundings. He rubbed his eyes and sat up, his head throbbing painfully. Looking around, he realized that he was in a bedroom he didn’t recognize. The last thing he remembered was going out for drinks with his staff and Emily, and then… nothing. He couldn’t remember anything else.
As he tried to stand up, he realized that he was only in his boxer shorts, and that the bed he was in was not his own. His confusion quickly turned into anger and panic as he realized what had happened. He had been drugged, and now he was in Emily’s room, with her walking in wearing a pink and black revealing nightgown.
“What the hell is going on here?” Lucas demanded, his voice full of anger and confusion.
Emily gave him a sheepish smile. “Hey there, sleepyhead. I was wondering when you’d wake up.”
Lucas narrowed his eyes. “What did you do to me?”
Emily’s smile faded. “I just wanted to have some fun, Lucas. You know, like old times.”
Lucas shook his head in disbelief. “This is not fun, Emily. You drugged me and brought me here without my consent.”
Emily’s face fell as she realized how angry Lucas was. “I’m sorry, Lucas. I didn’t mean to do anything wrong. I just missed you.”
Lucas let out a bitter laugh. “Missed me? I’m with Andrianne now and I’m too committed to even leave, Emily. Get used to that okay.” Lucas got down from the bed wrapped in the duvet as he started slipping his clothes on.
He stormed out of the house, his head still throbbing from the drugs Emily had given him. He couldn’t believe that she had done something so reckless and dangerous. He needed to get out of there and back to his own house, where he could process everything that had just happened.
As he drove home, he couldn’t help but think about Andrianne, and how disappointed she must be in him. He had let her down, and he knew that he needed to make things right with her. He just didn’t know how.
Emily watched Lucas as he stormed out of her room, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over her. She had finally succeeded in getting back at him for breaking her heart. She didn’t feel a shred of guilt or remorse for what she had done, as she firmly believed that Lucas deserved it.
Turning around, she walked back into her bedroom and sat on the edge of her bed, taking a sip of the glass of wine she had poured for herself earlier. She couldn’t help but smile as she thought about how everything had gone exactly according to plan.
Emily had always been the type of person who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted. She had been infatuated with Lucas for so long, and when she finally thought she had him, he broke her heart. She had been bitter and angry ever since, and this was her way of getting back at him.
As she sat there sipping her wine, Emily couldn’t help but think about how Lucas would feel when he woke up and realized what had happened to him. She knew that he would be angry and disgusted with her, but she didn’t care. In her mind, he deserved it for the way he had treated her.
Emily’s phone beeped, interrupting her thoughts. It was a message from Lucas. She opened it and read the contents, a frown forming on her face as she did. He was furious with her, and rightfully so. But Emily refused to apologize for what she had done.
She typed out a response, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. “Sorry if I went a little overboard last night. Hope you’re feeling better.” She hit send and tossed her phone aside, taking another sip of her wine.
Emily knew that Lucas wouldn’t forgive her easily, if at all. But she didn’t care. She had gotten what she wanted, and that was all that mattered to her.
