CH 78.
Andrianne sat nervously on the edge of the bed, dressed in a stunning blue dress that hugged her curves perfectly. Her hair was styled into loose waves that cascaded down her shoulders and back, and she wore simple diamond stud earrings that sparkled in the dim light of the bedroom.
She checked her phone once again, feeling a pang of anxiety as she saw that Lucas had still not returned her calls. She had planned the perfect birthday surprise for him, but now she couldn’t even get a hold of him to let him know where to meet her.
As she waited, her mind began to wander and she couldn’t help but think about the worst-case scenarios. Had something happened to him on his way home? Was he okay? She couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease that settled in the pit of her stomach.
She stood up and walked to the window, gazing out into the dark night sky. The moon was full, casting a soft glow over the gardens and the swimming pool. She longed for Lucas to be there with her, to share in the beauty of the moment.
As the minutes ticked by, Andrianne grew increasingly worried. She couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong. She paced back and forth in the bedroom, checking her phone every few minutes, hoping for a message or a call from Lucas.
The silence was deafening. Andrianne felt like she was going insane with worry. She took a deep breath and decided to call Lucas one more time, hoping against hope that he would answer.
But once again, her call went straight to voicemail. Andrianne’s heart sank. She knew that something was definitely wrong. She quickly grabbed her coat and headed out the door, intent on finding her husband and making sure he was safe.
Andrianne stared at her phone, feeling frustrated and worried. Where could Lucas be? He had promised to be back in time for their dinner date, and now it was past 9p. m. She had tried calling him several times, but his phone went straight to voicemail. She couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong.
Feeling restless, Andrianne walked over to the dining table where the birthday cake she had baked for Lucas was sitting. She had spent hours baking and decorating the cake, hoping to surprise him on his special day. But now, with no sign of him, her excitement had turned to disappointment.
She looked at the cake, still beautifully decorated with blue and white frosting, and sighed. Without thinking, she picked up a fork and started cutting a slice. As she took a bite, the sweetness of the cake filled her mouth. It was delicious, just as she had hoped it would be.
But as she continued to eat, the frustration and worry she felt began to take over. She took bigger bites, chewing angrily, as if trying to eat away her worries. Her mind raced with possibilities of where Lucas could be and what could have happened to him.
Andrianne’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the front door opening. She put down her fork and rushed to the living room, hoping to see Lucas walk in. But it wasn’t him. It was the butler, Johnson.
“Good evening, Madam,” Johnson greeted her with a polite bow.
“Good evening, Johnson. Have you seen Lucas? He’s not answering his phone,” Andrianne asked, her voice laced with worry.
“I’m afraid not, Madam. Mr. Lucas hasn’t returned yet,” Johnson replied, his expression showing a hint of concern.
Andrianne felt her heart sink. “Thank you, Johnson,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
As Johnson left the room, Andrianne sat down on the couch, feeling defeated. She looked at the half-eaten cake on the table and let out a deep sigh. Her mind was filled with worries and uncertainties, and the sweetness of the cake no longer brought her any joy.
As the clock ticked away, Andrianne’s patience waned. She had tried calling Lucas several times, but each call went straight to voicemail. She had no idea where he was or what was keeping him so long. As she sat there alone in the mansion, she feared the worst-case scenario. Maybe he had gotten into an accident or was in trouble with the law again.
She tried to keep herself busy, flipping through the channels on the TV, but her mind kept wandering back to Lucas. She wondered if he was okay and when he would be back. She thought about calling the police, but dismissed the idea. She couldn’t imagine anything bad happening to Lucas, not after everything they had been through.
As time passed, Andrianne’s eyes grew heavy, and she fought to keep them open. She decided to close her eyes for just a moment, telling herself that she would wake up as soon as Lucas got home.
But as soon as she leaned back against the couch, she was enveloped in the comforting warmth of sleep. Her mind drifted off into a peaceful slumber, and she forgot all about the worries that had been weighing her down.
She slept for what seemed like hours, but it was only a few minutes before she woke up with a start, realizing that Lucas still hadn’t come home. She rubbed her eyes, disoriented and confused, trying to remember where she was and what was happening. She checked her phone again, hoping to find a missed call or message from Lucas, but there was nothing.
Andrianne sat up, her heart pounding with anxiety. She didn’t know what to do. She thought about calling his friends or family, but she didn’t want to panic them without knowing anything for sure.
She paced back and forth, wondering what could have happened. She thought of calling the police but decided against it, not wanting to overreact. She went to the front door and looked out, hoping to see Lucas walking up the driveway, but there was no sign of him.
Exhausted and worried, Andrianne slumped back onto the couch and fell asleep once again, still wearing her beautiful evening gown.
