Chapter 74
The sun slowly peeked through the window as Andrianne woke up to a beautiful morning. She stretched her arms and yawned, feeling content and at peace. As she looked around the room, her eyes fell on a picture of her and Lucas on their wedding day. Her heart swelled with love and pride for her husband, who was soon to be acquitted of all charges.
She got out of bed, feeling a sense of purpose and determination. She walked over to the window and pulled back the curtains, letting the warm morning sun filter in. The birds outside were singing a beautiful melody that filled the air. Andrianne took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh morning air, and smiled to herself. Today was going to be a good day.
As she made her way to the kitchen to make breakfast, her phone rang. It was Lucas. He sounded ecstatic, telling her that his lawyer had just called him with good news. The evidence they had been waiting for had finally come in, and it proved his innocence beyond a doubt. He was going to be acquitted today.
Andrianne’s heart soared with joy. Tears of relief and happiness welled up in her eyes as she hugged herself tightly, unable to contain her excitement. She thanked Lucas for calling and told him she would be right there by his side.
After hanging up the phone, Andrianne began to prepare breakfast, humming a cheerful tune. She made pancakes, eggs, and bacon, feeling grateful for everything that had led her to this moment. As she cooked, she thought about the journey that had brought her and Lucas to this point. From the moment they had met, she knew they were meant to be together. Their love had been tested many times, but it had always come out stronger.
As she ate her breakfast, she couldn’t help but daydream about their future together. She thought about their baby, due in a few months, and how they would raise him or her with all the love and care in the world. Andrianne was determined to make sure their child would have a bright future, filled with happiness and opportunities.
With a sense of purpose and hope, Andrianne got dressed and headed to the courthouse. As she walked through the doors, she felt a rush of emotions. She was nervous, excited, and grateful all at the same time. She walked to the courtroom and took her seat, anxiously waiting for the proceedings to begin.
As the judge entered and called the case, Andrianne’s heart pounded in her chest. She held her breath as David presented the new evidence and made a convincing argument for Lucas’s innocence. Andrianne felt tears of joy streaming down her face as the judge declared Lucas not guilty and dismissed the case.
She ran to Lucas, who was waiting for her outside the courtroom. They hugged each other tightly, feeling an overwhelming sense of relief and happiness. They both knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, one that would be filled with love, happiness, and hope.
Andrianne couldn’t wait to start planning their future together, to raise their child with all the love and care in the world, and to celebrate their love every single day. She knew that their journey would continue to have its ups and downs, but she was ready to face anything as long as they were together.
After getting dressed and fixing herself a cup of coffee, she got into her car and began the short drive to the courthouse.
As she drove, she couldn’t help but think about all that had happened in the past few months. The murder of Steve, Lucas’s arrest, and the many days and nights she spent worrying about her husband’s fate. But all of that was behind them now. Today was the day they had been waiting for, the day they could finally put this nightmare behind them.
When she arrived at the courthouse, Andrianne quickly made her way to the courtroom where the trial had been taking place. She took her seat in the gallery, her heart racing with anticipation. She watched as the lawyers entered the room, followed by the judge and then finally her husband. Lucas looked tired, but he had a look of determination in his eyes that filled Andrianne with pride.
As the trial began, Andrianne listened intently to the lawyers’ arguments. She had faith in David, their lawyer, but still, she couldn’t help but feel nervous. She watched as the prosecution presented their case, but their arguments seemed weak and unfounded. David, on the other hand, presented a strong case for self-defense.
As the trial went on, Andrianne’s nervousness turned to excitement. She knew in her heart that Lucas would be acquitted. And then, finally, the moment came. The judge announced his verdict, and Andrianne felt tears welling up in her eyes as she heard the words she had been hoping for. “Not guilty.”
Andrianne rushed forward to embrace Lucas as he was released from custody. They held each other tightly, both of them overwhelmed with emotion. “We did it,” Lucas said, looking into Andrianne’s eyes.
“Yes, we did,” Andrianne replied, her voice shaking with happiness. “I’m so proud of you.”
They made their way out of the courthouse and into the bright sunlight. Andrianne felt like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She could finally breathe easy and look forward to a future with her husband.
As they got into the car, Lucas turned to Andrianne with a huge smile on his face. “Let’s go home,” he said.
Andrianne smiled back at him. “Yes, let’s.”
During the car ride home, they talked about their future and all the things they wanted to do together. Andrianne told Lucas about her plans to expand her business, and Lucas talked about how he wanted to spend more time with his family.
When they finally arrived home, Andrianne felt a sense of relief wash over her. They had made it through a difficult time, but they had come out the other side stronger than ever. As they stepped out of the car and made their way to the front door, Andrianne turned to Lucas and said, “I love you.”
Lucas smiled back at her. “I love you too, Andrianne. Thank you for standing by me through all of this.”
Andrianne leaned in and kissed him deeply. “Of course, Lucas. Always.”
