CH 48.
Andrianne sat in the police station, her mind racing with thoughts of what had just happened. She was grateful to be safe, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that things were only going to get more complicated from here. As she waited to give her statement, she couldn’t help but wonder what Steve was doing and how he was feeling.
Finally, it was Andrianne’s turn to speak with the police. She took a deep breath and walked into the interrogation room. The detectives sat across from her, their faces stern and serious.
“Ms. Andrianne, can you please tell us what happened this morning?” one of the detectives asked.
Andrianne took a deep breath and recounted the events of the morning. She described how Steve had come to see her at the restaurant and how he had threatened Lucas. She explained that she had tried to get away from Steve, but he had chased her down the street.
The detectives listened intently as she spoke, taking notes and asking follow-up questions. When she was finished, they thanked her for her statement and told her that they would be in touch if they needed any further information.
As she left the police station, Andrianne couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. She had done her part, and now it was up to the authorities to take care of the rest. She hailed a taxi and headed to the restaurant where she had met Steve earlier that morning.
When she arrived, the restaurant was empty, except for a few staff members cleaning up. Andrianne made her way to the table where she had sat with Steve, taking a seat and staring off into space. She couldn’t help but feel guilty for what had happened, even though she knew it wasn’t her fault.
Suddenly, she heard a voice behind her. “Andrianne?”
She turned around to see Steve standing there, looking haggard and worn. “Steve, what are you doing here?” she asked.
“I had to see you,” he said. “I had to explain myself.”
Andrianne sighed. “Steve, there’s nothing to explain. You made a mistake, and now we have to deal with the consequences.”
Steve shook his head. “No, Andrianne, it’s not that simple. I know I messed up, but I need you to understand why.”
Andrianne raised an eyebrow. “And why is that?”
Steve took a deep breath. “Because I still love you, Andrianne. I never stopped loving you.”
Andrianne felt her heart skip a beat. She had always known that Steve still had feelings for her, but she never thought that he would act on them in such a reckless way. She stood up, her head spinning.
“Steve, you can’t just say things like that. It’s not fair to me or to Lucas.”
“I know, Andrianne, and I’m sorry. But I had to tell you how I feel. I had to let you know that I would do anything for you.” She replied as she started walking towards her car.
Andrianne could feel Steve’s gaze burning into her back as she walked towards her car. She didn’t want to engage in any conversation with him after what had just happened.
“Adrianne, please let me explain,” Steve pleaded, catching up with her.
“What is there to explain?” Andrianne asked, her voice laced with anger. “You threatened to kill my husband!”
Steve’s expression softened. “I know I messed up, but I was just trying to protect you. You’re my first love, Adrianne. I can’t stand the thought of losing you to Lucas.”
Andrianne shook her head, her eyes locked on his. “Steve, we broke up years ago. You can’t go around threatening people because of me. That’s not how things work.”
“I know, I know,” Steve said, his voice laced with regret. “I’ll make it up to you, I promise. Just please, don’t shut me out like this.”
Andrianne paused, considering his words. She knew she couldn’t just dismiss him entirely. After all, he was still her bodyguard, and she needed him for protection. But she also knew she couldn’t just forgive him so easily.
As soon as Andrianne got into her car, she slammed the door shut and revved up the engine. The car roared to life, and Steve watched as she sped off down the road, her taillights disappearing into the distance.
He knew he had messed up big time. Threatening Lucas was a stupid move, and now he had potentially jeopardized Andrianne’s safety. He had to find a way to make things right, and fast.
Steve pulled out his phone and dialed Andrianne’s number. He knew she probably wouldn’t answer, but he had to try.
The phone rang for what felt like an eternity before finally going to voicemail. Steve cursed under his breath and hung up, deciding to try again later.
He knew he had to find a way to gain Andrianne’s trust back, but he wasn’t quite sure how. He couldn’t just apologize and hope for the best. He needed to show her that he was still capable of protecting her, and that he would do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even though it was obvious he was beginning to get too obsessive about Andrianne.
Steve’s mind raced as he tried to come up with a plan. He couldn’t afford to mess this up again. The stakes were too high, and he knew that if he failed, he would lose Andrianne forever.
