CH 49.
As Andrianne pulled into her driveway, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief wash over her. She was glad to finally be home after the day she had just had. She quickly parked her car and got out, making her way to the front door.
As she stepped inside, she let out a sigh of relief. Lucas wasn’t home yet, which meant she had some time to herself. She didn’t want to risk telling him that she had been out with Steve earlier that day. She knew he would be angry, and she didn’t want to deal with that right now.
Andrianne quickly made her way upstairs to her bedroom, closing the door behind her. She felt like she had been running all day and was ready to just relax and unwind.
She went over to her closet and grabbed a comfortable pair of sweats and a t-shirt. As she changed, she couldn’t help but think about Steve and everything that had happened earlier that day. She was still trying to process it all.
Andrianne knew that she couldn’t keep avoiding Steve forever. He was her bodyguard after all, and she needed him to keep her safe. But at the same time, she couldn’t just forgive him for what he had said to Lucas. It was a difficult situation, and Andrianne wasn’t quite sure what to do.
As the sun began to set, Andrianne heard the sound of Lucas’ car pulling up in the driveway. She quickly put on a silk nightgown, the soft fabric clinging to her curves as she made her way down the stairs to welcome her husband.
Lucas was taken aback by Andrianne’s beauty, her long hair cascading down her back and her silk nightgown leaving little to the imagination. But he held himself back, knowing that he needed to maintain a professional relationship with his contracted wife.
“Welcome home, Lucas,” Andrianne greeted him with a warm smile.
“Thank you, Andrianne,” Lucas replied, his eyes never leaving her.
Andrianne led him to the living room where she had prepared a light snack for him. She poured him a glass of wine and sat beside him on the couch.
“How was your day, Lucas?” she asked, trying to engage him in conversation.
“It was good,” he replied, taking a sip of his wine. “I had a meeting with a potential client.”
Andrianne nodded, not wanting to press him further. She knew that Lucas was a workaholic, and that his work was important to him.
Lucas set his glass down on the coffee table and turned to face Andrianne. “You look beautiful tonight, Andrianne,” he said, his voice low and husky.
Andrianne felt her heart skip a beat at his words, but she knew that she couldn’t act on her feelings for him. “Thank you, Lucas,” she replied, trying to keep her voice steady.
Lucas leaned in closer to her, his hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair away from her face. Andrianne felt her breath catch in her throat as she looked into his piercing blue eyes.
Suddenly, the sound of the doorbell ringing interrupted the moment. Lucas sighed and stood up, his moment of passion interrupted. “I’ll get it,” he said, walking towards the front door.
Andrianne sat on the couch, her heart racing from the close encounter with Lucas. She knew that she needed to keep her distance, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to do so.
Lucas returned to the living room, a puzzled look on his face. “That was strange,” he said, sitting back down next to Andrianne.
“What was strange?” Andrianne asked, curious.
“It was a man, claiming to be your bodyguard,” Lucas said, his brow furrowed. “He said that he needed to speak with you urgently.”
Andrianne’s heart skipped a beat as she realized that it must have been Steve. She had hoped that she wouldn’t have to deal with him again after their encounter earlier that day.
“What did you tell him?” she asked, trying to sound calm.
“I told him that you weren’t available,” Lucas replied, his eyes narrowing. “And I told him not to come back.”
Andrianne felt a sense of relief wash over her, but she knew that it was only a matter of time before Steve showed up again. She needed to figure out a way to deal with him, without putting herself or Lucas in danger.
As the night wore on, Andrianne and Lucas watched a movie together, trying to ignore the tension between them. Andrianne couldn’t shake the feeling that something was about to go wrong, and she knew that she needed to be prepared for whatever was to come.
Andrianne walked towards the stairs and waved goodbye to Lucas as he walked towards his bedroom. She resisted the urge to kiss him on the lips, knowing that it would only complicate things between them.
“Goodnight, Lucas,” she said softly.
“Goodnight, Andrianne,” Lucas replied, turning to look at her one last time before disappearing into his bedroom.
Andrianne closed the door and let out a deep sigh. She couldn’t deny that she was attracted to Lucas, but at the same time, she couldn’t help feeling guilty for having these feelings. After all, she was only his contracted wife, and nothing more.
She walked back to her own bedroom and changed into her pajamas, her mind still consumed by thoughts of Lucas. She knew she had to be careful around him, but at the same time, she couldn’t resist his charm.
As she lay in bed, trying to fall asleep, she couldn’t help but wonder what would happen next between her and Lucas. Would they be able to resist their attraction to each other, or would they give in to their desires? Only time would tell.
