Elena had fainted. Her blood continued to ooze, but she had lost consciousness.
When the blanket covered her, she had lost her last ounce of energy.
When she was sure that Elena was no longer awake, Sarah picked up her phone and dialed a number.
“Get a car to the old madam’s back quarters. Come to the foyer entrance directly. There’s garbage here that I need to dispose of.”
…
The corner of Michael’s eyebrow twitched. He frowned. He could not process the documents in front of him, and the marketing manager had continued to spout explanations about next year’s financial plan.
However, Eldest Young Master Williams, a reputable workaholic, had lost his patience to listen to that.
Suddenly he slammed his pen onto the table.
The marketing manager was startled, and he panicked as he stopped mid-way through his explanation.
“Eldest Young Master Williams is…something wrong?”
Everyone turned their attention toward Michael.
The CEO’s face looked unhappy. Was he upset about the topic of their discussion?
Eldest Young Master Williams’s expression turned gloomy, and everyone in the room was on high alert. All of them tried not to breathe too hard.
Michael suddenly stood up and said, “The meeting is over.” Then, he left the room. The secretary quickly opened the door for him before she stood at the side.
Soon, the CEO’s figure vanished from everybody’s sight. They all looked at each other, but none of them knew what had gone wrong.
Finally, everybody’s attention fell on Levi. He had packed his things and got ready to leave when he noticed that everyone had turned their eyes on him.
He shrugged and said, “I don’t know either; there was nothing wrong with the presentation.”
Since Eldest Young Master Williams had left, he would have to follow suit. Levi threw up his hands in the air and picked up his briefcase.
As he exited the room, he received a call from the butler.
When Levi entered Michael’s room, he looked troubled.
“Eldest Young Master, Miss Elena, she…”
“She’s here?” When he heard Elena’s name, the twitch in the corner of Michael’s eye became more intense. However, he kept his usual cold attitude.
“Missing! Eldest Young Master, Miss Elena, has gone missing.”
Sometimes, Levi could not understand the man in front of him. It was apparent that his eyelid had twitched when he mentioned ‘Miss Elena’. Levi had been with him for so long, so he could always tell if something was amiss. How could he pretend to be calm when Levi told him that Elena had gone missing?
Levi did not know whether Eldest Young Master Williams had cared about her at all.
“The Williams’s estate is big enough for her to stroll around for the whole day,” Michael answered with a grunt.
“Some people saw her go to Old Madam Williams’s back quarters with Eldest Madam. Sometime later, Eldest Madam had someone drive a car there. However, no one saw Miss Elena come out of the back quarter since then.”
“What do you mean?”
“Eldest Young Master, I suspect that Eldest Madam had taken Miss Elena.”
However, he did not know why Sarah would want with Elena.
“Eldest Young Master, should we go find her?” Levi wanted to see a trace of worry on Michael’s face, though he knew it was impossible.
Just as he expected, Michael’s had no emotion on his face when he heard the news. It seemed as if he was not worried about her at all.
“See what Dylan is doing.” Then, he went back to his own office.
Soon after that, Levi knocked and came through the door. “Second Young Master had been in the office the whole time. He did not leave the room.”
Michael still did not react; Levi started to get agitated.
“Eldest Young Master, shouldn’t we send someone to search for her?” Since Eldest Madam did not return to the Williams’s mansion, things had started to look suspicious.
“Why?” Michael leaned back in his chair and looked at Levi at the corners of his eyes. “Are you really that free to worry about two women on a shopping trip?”
“I…” That did not sound impossible. Levi thought about it for a second and felt as if he had over thought it.
He also knew that Eldest Young Master Williams never explicitly told Elena that he could leave the estate, and she would never go unless she had an important function to attend.
However, Eldest Young Master Williams did not say that she could not leave the house.
Finally, Levi left Michael’s office with a small doubt in his mind.
Michael leaned back in his chair. He thought that it was strange he would feel upset about the news. He took some cigarettes from his drawer and lit one up. He took a few drags, but it did not chase his nervousness away.
What had happened to him?
Why did he care about whether the woman had wanted to go out?
Besides, it was Sarah who took her out.
What could possibly go wrong with those two women anyway?
How could a bed warmer make him feel that way?
Was he stupid? Did he forget how she had betrayed him with another man?
Michael took another drag and then put the cigarette out in an ashtray. He held the mouse and continued to read through the proposals from various departments.
…
Eldest Young Master Williams returned home early that night. He arrived at WongRiver Pavilion at around half past six in the evening. It was obvious he had left as soon as work was over.
It was quiet at the WongRiver Pavilion. Nobody knew where she had gone. Was it not enough for her to have gone out for most of the day?
“Find me that woman and bring her back!” He was upset with her!
Their three-month agreement was not for her to have fun. It looked like she enjoyed her time outside that she did not know to return to him.
The butler ran into the room hastily. “Eldest Young Master, we have not seen Miss Elena for the whole day. We tried to look for her in the back quarters, but we did not find her. Some of the staff said that she was with Eldest Madam, but she had left the estate since noon, and she’s not back yet.”
“And you never thought of calling her phone to check?”
What was wrong with the butler? He could not even handle such a small matter.
Butler Qin knew that Eldest Young Master’s temper had gone even shorter in the past month. He panicked and said, “Eldest Madam’s phone was turned off, and as for Miss Elena’s…” He took out a cell phone from his pocket and showed it to him.
“We found Miss Elena’s phone in Old Madam Williams’s bedroom.”
“What?” Michael snatched the phone. It was, indeed, Elena’s cell phone. If she had wanted to go out, she would have brought her phone with her. Did she forget about it?
The grim feeling that he had felt the whole day was back with a vengeance.
Michael gave orders to his staff just as Levi returned to the room. He looked worried.
“Eldest Young Master, we found traces of blood in the back quarters’ foyer.”
