Elena said she wanted to see Henry, and thus, Second Young Master Sharp had appeared. He never asked for a reason, nor did he say that he was busy.
After Elena got into the car, she saw his phone had rung multiple times. Finally, Henry switched it off and brought her to get some fresh air at a stretch of road by the sea.
“Why didn’t you ask me why I wanted to see you?” Elena had already calmed down.
The chilly sea breeze helped to calm her mood.
“Why should I? I’m so handsome and charming. Isn’t it normal that you’d want to meet me?”
Henry tilted his head and glanced at her. Some gloominess still lingered on the girl’s forehead. Then, he asked, “Wanna get some barbecue at the beach?”
It was still early winter, so the weather was not too cold. It would feel amazing to enjoy the meal by the sea. Elena did not have any appetite, but she nodded in agreement. Henry turned the car around and quickly stopped at the nearby beach.
There were many stalls with barbecue by the beach, and even though the environment was not ideal, they were lucky because it was a workday. There was no one at the beach, so it was rather quiet too.
“Are you busy today?” Elena glanced at his pocket.
His mobile phone no longer rang, but it almost exploded with calls before he switched it off.
“Work.” There was really no need to ask whether he was busy or not.
“Is it important? You had a lot of calls just now.”
“They’re urging me to go for a meeting.”
“For a big project?”
“Hmm.” Henry seemed unconcerned and waved at a stall owner in the distance.
The stall owner rushed toward them, and then laid dozens of seafood skewers and some drinks.
Henry said, “You can keep the drinks. We won’t need them. Please bring me some boiled water.”
“Very well.” The stall owner went back immediately, and a few moments later, he returned with a thermos.
“Just leave it here. I’ll call you if I need anything.” After he sent the stall owner away, Henry poured Elena a cup of warm water.
His voice was like the gentle seaside breeze. “Your body isn’t fully recovered yet. No cold drinks for you yet.”
Elena felt apprehensive. She looked at him and seemed a little lost.
“What are you doing? Drink up.” Henry frowned when he saw that she had stared blankly at him. “You’re acting weird today. If you wanted to talk, just say it.”
“Would you ever hurt me?” she suddenly asked.
Henry did not immediately answer her question.
It was only after he stared at her for at least three seconds that he placed the glass in her hand. “Drink first, and then we’ll talk.”
Elena lowered her head and drank half a cup of warm water in one big gulp. When she looked at him again, Henry focused his attention on the seafood on the grill.
“If I must answer, then I hope that you can feel it with your heart. What I say is not important. What’s important is that you believe me just a little bit.”
There was a dullness in his eyes that went away just as quickly. He did not show it in front of her. However, Elena still managed to catch a glimpse of that gloominess.
Had she hurt him? If it was the other way around and he had asked her that question, would she feel hurt?
The two of them had spent so much time together for the past several months. Had she been completely oblivious to what kind of person he was?
It might be possible to deceive her for a day or two, but could he have lied to her for a month or two? Why must she doubt him? Anyone would be hurt with that level of suspicions.
“I’m sorry.” She lowered her gaze and looked at the seafood on the grill.
Henry glanced at her, and even though he did not know what was in her mind at that moment, her apology sounded sincere. He smiled. “Now that you’ve apologized, then let’s just move on and be happy.”
“You’re not gonna ask me why?” Elena looked up and met his burning eyes.
The sun illuminated him, and the sea breeze caressed the short bangs on his forehead. He glowed warmly; he was such a beautiful man! She sighed and felt a little guilty.
“Why should I ask?” Not every doubt must be clarified.
“Sometimes, turning a blind eye would make you a happier person.”
“Is Second Young Master Sharp someone willing to turn a blind eye his whole life?” Elena murmured, “If you do that, then it would eventually spell trouble for Sharp Corporation.”
“It depends on the person.”
“You should turn on your phone.” Elena was still a little uneasy. A brief moment of stubbornness seemed to have caused him to miss many important things at his office.
“What kind of big project is it? Can I know about it?”
“It’s nothing. I just made an appointment with the boss of another company to discuss a project that’s been planned for several months.”
“Several months!” Elena nearly jumped up from the stool!
When it came to corporations as large as Sharp Corporation, it was definitely not easy to plan a project for several months! Ashton would not have called so many times to remind him if it was not a very urgent matter.
Anyone could have guessed that the calls were from Ashton. No one would have dared to call him like their life depended on it. Even Ashton would only do that if it were an urgent matter.
“If the meeting today fails, how much money would Sharp Corporation lose?”
Henry curled his lips. “You really want to know?”
“Yes!” Elena got even more nervous.
However, he remained as calm as ever. “Eat first.”
“No! Tell me!” Elena’s restlessness increased, and she felt as if she was on the brink of spontaneous combustion.
“Not much. probably… ten or so billion…”
Elena almost choked to her death! Elena suddenly stood up and grabbed his hands. “Come on! Hurry up! It’s not too late to go back, let’s go!”
“But the food isn’t done—”
“Why are you still eating? You haven’t finished what you needed to do! Hurry up and finish it before you eat!”
Ten billion! It was ridiculous!
“Are you really not going to eat?” Henry was not anxious at all.
“No, not eating! Hurry up! Don’t do this! I’m going to cry!”
Elena pulled him and wanted to get him up. Unfortunately, he was too tall, and his weight was not what she could carry.
Henry’s beautiful thin lips curled upward. He finally took out his wallet and put down a few banknotes before he stood up with her.
“Hurry up! Hurry up!”
Under the blue sky and white clouds, the girl pulled the man’s hands and anxiously rushed to the parking lot. Despite that, the man had a smile on his lips the entire time, and leisurely allowed himself to be dragged away by her.
His eyes landed on her body—it was so soft, so warm.
When he arrived at Sharp Corporation’s main building lobby, the other company’s boss was already outside. A group of people followed him cautiously. The boss was so furious that he intimidated everyone behind him. No one even dared to make a peep.
Ashton chased after him while he discreetly wiped the sweat on his brow. He was incredibly apologetic, “I’m sorry, CEO Berry, it’s all my fault. I didn’t inform Second Young Master Sharp of the time of the meeting. Shall we make an appointment for another day? CEO Berry … ”
“Your Second Young Master’s time is precious, but does that mean my time can be wasted?”
CEO Berry was so angry that he wanted to kick the man. He remarked coldly, “This is a breach of contract from Sharp Corporation. We will never cooperate with your company again in the future!”
“CEO Berry, CEO Berry…” Ashton sweated anxiously.
“CEO Berry.” A slender figure came through the lobby’s glass revolving door.
He had a dainty girl with her, and his handsome yet thin lips curled up slightly with a smile that made people feel comfortable and at ease.
“My girlfriend is not feeling well today, so I had to accompany her to the hospital. I’m very sorry for the delay!”
