Chapter 330 Was It A Conspiracy or A Coincidence?

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

When she sensed that something was amiss about the situation, Elena tried her best to avoid that person.
However, the person still knocked into her and bumped against her arm. Elena felt a pinch, and she frowned. She backed off a few steps and glared at that person.
“I’m sorry.” The girl looked at Elena and apologized. “Sorry, I’m going to be late, I’m sorry.”
As she turned to leave, Elena hurriedly chased after her and grabbed her hand. “Hold it right there!”
Something had stung Elena’s arm—she had been wounded! It was not a big wound, but it was obvious that the girl had done it on purpose. What was in that girl’s hand?
“Hey! What are you trying to do?” The girl frowned in pain when Elena grabbed her.
Elena was rather strong, and she gazed down at the girl’s hand. The girl did not have any sharp tools in her hand, and the item that wounded her was probably the girl’s ring.
The ring… Elena’s mind rapidly recalled earlier scenes.
Ring, deliberately bumped into her, blood…
“You…”
“Elena, are you trying to bully other people again!” A few female students hurried toward them.
Elena froze for a moment, and the girl broke free from her grip. Then, the girl ran to the university’s back entrance instead of the university building! She had mentioned that she was in a hurry to her class, so why would she leave the university compound? Something was not right!
Elena wanted to chase after her, but those girls blocked her way. Other female students from other courses had little interactions with her, so why would they stand in her way to prevent her from leaving?
“Step aside!”
“Why should I? Did you build this road?” Several girls stood in her way and refused to let her pass!
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Elena wanted to chase after the other girl.
As she looked up, the girl who bumped into her and pricked her hand had already gotten into a car and left. Elena could no longer catch up to her! The group of girls had obviously planned it in advance.
“Who wants anything to do with you? It’s time for our class anyway, why are we still dilly dallying? Let’s go.”
Those girls immediately left after they noticed that the other girl had gone in another car. Elena hurried toward the university gate, but she could no longer see the car anywhere.
She even failed to get the license plate number, so how could she chase after it?
Why did the girl prick Elena’s arm?
Ring, pounce…
Suddenly, Elena clenched her fists!
Ava! She finally realized why the ring had looked so familiar to her.
Not long ago, Ava had invited her to a café outside of the university for no apparent reason, and she had made several odd remarks while they were there. She had tried to get close to her, but Elena managed to dodge her attempts. Ava had worn a similar ring that day too.
When did that happen?
The bell had run, and it was time for class, so Elena went back to the university. As she approached her classroom, she managed to string the timeline for a few past events.
Ava had worn the same ring during their meeting, but she did not get a chance to get in contact with her. Then Ava dressed as Talia to deceive Old Madam Williams at the Williams’s mansion.
Then, according to Evie, Ava had bribed her to nudge the old madam to the backyard so that she could overhear a conversation between Grace and someone else.
Ava must not have known about Elena’s relationship with the old madam, but a series of events must have confirmed Elena’s identity as the old madam’s granddaughter.
How did Ava manage that when she failed to get a sample of Elena’s blood? Elena felt increasingly uneasy as she thought about that. She stood in front of the university as the cold wind blew at her.
Ava could not get her blood sample, but on that same day, Elena had bumped into another person…
Suddenly, her whole body seemed to have been drained of all strength. Her heart tensed and convulsed in waves; it was painful. She clutched her heart firmly, but her hands and feet weakened. She struggled to get into the building, and she had to support herself so that she could not collapse onto the ground.
Ava had failed that day, but Elena had bumped into another person after she left the cafe. Not only did she bumped into him, his shirt button even cut her finger. She must have left some of her blood on that button.
Henry.
How could it have been him?
Impossible, that must have been a coincidence! It could not be him!
She could doubt anyone in her life, but she would never suspect Henry! She could not, and she should not doubt him! He had helped her through some of her most difficult days.
When she could barely continue to live due to her despair, he became her rock-solid strength and gave her the courage to continue to live. She could let the whole world betray and abandon her, but she would not let him do the same.
He was Henry, her most trusted friend! The one she relied upon most!
Did he not answer the phone just as they reached the university? She did not pay much attention at that time, but she could recall some of the contents of his conversation.
“Okay, come right away… as planned…”
Each word frightened her as she recalled them; each word sent her into deeper despair! Henry could not have been the person behind that!
However, no one else had interacted with her during that time except for Henry. No one else had the opportunity to get her blood sample. How could it have been him? How could she believe that?
“Hey, are you okay?” A senior had gone to her to check up on her. It was then Elena realized that she had cowered in the corner of the university building’s stairs. She had no idea how long she had been there.
She shook her head and did not even look up at him. “I’m fine.”
“Bad breakup?” The senior could not see who she was because she had buried her face between her knees.
The senior smiled and said, “It’s just a broken heart. It’s no big deal. Chin up, tomorrow is another day.” A broken heart? Well, she did look like she had been dumped. She looked depressed.
The patient senior continued to advise her, “You kids argue and quarrel so often that sometimes, a couple that’s fated to marry might part ways because of a small misunderstanding.
“People always say that you shouldn’t make a decision when you’re angry or sad. Wait for things to calm down, and then reconsider it. Otherwise, you might regret it for your entire lifetime.”
She could not remember anything else that the senior had said after that.
All she could recall was his words, ‘You shouldn’t make a decision when you’re angry or sad.’
She was sad, and her judgment was impaired. Perhaps, it was really just a misunderstanding. Sometime later, the senior realized that he could no longer persuade her, so he sighed and left.
Elena finally looked up, took out her mobile phone, then dialed Henry’s number.
“What’s wrong? Shouldn’t you be in class at this time?” Henry frowned as he asked through the phone. He knew her class schedules like the back of his hand.
Elena held the phone for a while before she whispered, “I’m not feeling very well. I… want to see you.”
