Who said that Eldest Young Master Williams was cold? Who said that he could not measure up to other men? In the corridor, a girl dressed in an exquisite and unconventional gown held onto a man’s arm as she looked at the group of friends with a blank expression. She was the one who asked the unpleasant question.
However, it was the man beside her who shocked everyone with his presence. Some of them called him the wolf-like man. Coincidentally, the term wolf had trended on Weibo that day, and they finally understood why people called him that. His sharp and cold eyes made him look like the leader of a wolf pack. His seemingly unintentional and casual gaze might even freeze one’s blood.
Layla and Lois were so terrified that their legs shook; they almost knelt to him! No one expected that they would bump into Eldest Young Master Williams in such a place, at the entrance to the women’s restroom!
Elena clenched her fists. She could barely control her breathing when she gently pulled her two friends closer to her, but her two friends remained unmoved! Their legs were weak, and they leaned against the wall for support. They knew that they should flee immediately, but their legs seemed to have grown roots into the grounds. They could not even lift their feet! What could they do?
What could Elena do? She could not leave without her friends, and it did not seem possible to drag them with her! Why could they not keep their mouth shut? How could she drag them with her when they were so heavy?!
“Elena, why are you here? What a coincidence!” Ava pretended to be surprised when she saw Elena.
Ava looked at Michael. She had panicked. She did not want to see any changes on Michael’s face, which would mean he still cared for Elena. However, Michael’s handsome face was as still and as calm as usual; there was no glint in his eyes. When he saw Elena, it did not seem as if he cared what happened to her. He must have been still mad at her. Ava sighed in relief before she smiled at Elena
“I haven’t seen you for a long time. Are you well? Why are you still hanging around with these lowly people?”
Layla and Lois wanted to retaliate against that statement. What did she mean by lowly people? However, Eldest Young Master Williams was right beside her, so there was nothing they could do to her. Elena’s eyes swept across Michael’s face momentarily.
Then she looked at Ava and smiled. “My friends may not be fashionable, but they are kind and sincere.
“I am more willing to be friends with them than trying to get along with some hypocrites. Is there anything wrong with that?”
She did not expect Ava to be so calm when she provoked her. It was as if she had changed from her previous behavior.
“Oh, is it? Congratulations, you have found friends who are exactly like yourself.”
She might sound like she wanted to congratulate Elena, but there was no trace of sincerity in her eyes. She looked at Michael. Her voice was so soft that it sounded like ripples on water.
“Michael, I’m going to wash my hands. I’ll be out momentarily, so do wait for me.”
“Hmm,” Michael replied softly.
Ava reluctantly let go of his hands. Eldest Young Master Williams had finally allowed her to take his arms when they walked together. If she had not wanted to use the toilet, she would not have parted from his side. So, Ava hurried to the restroom. Otherwise, she would not be able to hold it any longer.
Ava glanced at Elena coldly before she quickly walked into the restroom. She did not want to delay another second. She was afraid that Elena would hit on Michael while she was away. She would never give her a chance to return to Michael.
After Ava left, Michael took a cigarette from his pocket and lit it with a snap.
He stood at the corridor and puffed away. It was just a random and casual act, but it looked so charming when he did it. Elena tugged at Layla and Lois again. It felt strange if they remained there. However, the two girls could not even stand up straight. They leaned their weights against the wall. Elena was so embarrassed; it looked as if they did not want to leave. The atmosphere was weird.
Should she say hello to Michael? It was obvious that they knew each other, but they had behaved like strangers. The last time they met, they even parted ways as enemies. Should she greet him?
Michael smoked his cigarette quietly. His tall and lean body stood in the middle of the corridor. It felt as if he had occupied the entire space there. His aura enveloped the area as if it had marked that territory as his own. It would be hard to walk past him.
Elena took a deep breath and told herself to stop thinking about the past. At least, they knew each other. Her eyes landed on Michael’s black shirt. Henry mentioned that he was injured, but he was only in the hospital for one night. She was not sure how serious his injuries had been.
“You…” After a few moments of hesitation, she finally raised her head to face him. “Eldest Young Master Williams, I haven’t seen you for a long time. How have you been?”
Michael turned his eyes toward her. Elena thought that she would panic when their gazes met, but he only gave her a casual glance.
The look was indifferent and apathetic, without a trace of affection. It was as if he had looked at someone who had nothing to do with him. There was no need for her to be so flustered as he did not even put any pressure on her.
“Hmm.” Michael nodded. That was his response; it was very relaxed and carefree.
Ava came out of the restroom just as their eyes met. She was anxious about that, so she quickly made her way back to Michael. She squeezed strategically between the two so that she could use her body to cut off their interactions.
“Michael, let’s go.” Ava smiled softly at him as her hands held onto his arm.
The man did not push her away. He raised his hand to pull a drag of his cigarette, and the smoke enveloped his face with a mysterious charm. He flicked his fingertips, and the cigarette butt landed in a nearby ashtray.
After that, he walked off with Ava beside him. He did not even bid goodbye to Elena. It was not until they were further away from them that Layla and Lois sighed in relief. They had to lean on the wall for support so that they would not fall onto the ground.
They had made fun of Michael behind his back when they insinuated that he was inferior to other men. They were lucky that he did not kill them on the spot. They did not understand why it seemed as if he was a king from ancient times. They dreaded to be around him!
