Elena did not expect Henry to appear when she was about to ask for the check.
“What are you doing here?” She was a little stunned. Even if he wanted to eat, dinner time had long passed.
“I’m hungry, so here I am.”
As soon as Henry arrived, Caleb immediately added a chair next to Elena. After he sat down, Layla signaled the waiter to add a set of cutleries for Henry. Lois and Layla had cultivated a tacit understanding in just over two months. When she noticed what Layla did, she immediately put the menu in Henry’s hand.
“Second Young Master, have a look at what you would like to eat. I will immediately get them to place an order for you.”
Henry glanced at the dishes on the table and said, “No need to order more food, there are still many leftovers here.”
How could Layla and Lois let their big boss eat leftovers? Even Caleb and Aryan would not dare to do that!
Rufus added, “Second Young Master, just order what you wanted to eat. I’ll get them to pack the leftovers.”
“No need…”
“You had better make a fresh order.” Elena looked at the menu and said, “Otherwise, how could they make you pay for the meal?”
Her friends immediately choked when Elena said that. They were embarrassed and wanted to hide their head in any nearby holes. That Elena! They only wanted to help her save some money; how could she expose their intention so blatantly? Henry’s lips curled upward as he looked at the apathetic girl.
“It looks like everyone here knows just how poor you are, even if you are the boss.”
September Media was only a pea-sized company under Sharp Corporation. Henry only paid attention to them because of Elena. Since they were there to celebrate their show’s success, she would have to foot the bill since she was their boss.
“Well, we only wanted Second Young Master to join us for the celebration.”
Lois glared at Elena discreetly, a signal for her not to mess with their plan. Elena drank her beverage and said no more. Second Young Master Sharp was not a fool. He knew what they meant. Well, he was never short of money anyway, What was tens of thousands of dollars anyway?
“Okay, I’ll have the sweet and sour pork ribs, the shrimp and cabbage, and stir-fried lotus root with mixed vegetables.”
Henry pushed the menu back to Lois and said, “That’s it.”
Lois was stunned; even Layla was dumbfounded.
“What?” Henry raised an eyebrow.
“No… nothing.” Lois immediately called the waiter to place an order for Henry.
When Henry went to wash his hands, Lois stared at Elena with a shocked expression. “Elena, are you both… really not in a relationship?”
Who would have believed that?
“Yeah! We’re absolutely in a relationship!”
Layla glowered at her. “Do you need to be so secretive? What do you mean you were both just friends? Are you trying to lie to us?”
The dishes that Henry ordered were the same as what Elena had ordered before!
Each of them could order one or two dishes, but since Elena was footing the bill, she decided to order an extra dish. She had ordered the same three dishes that Henry had ordered! Henry was familiar with her taste buds, and yet they claimed that they were not in a relationship! Elena felt helpless as she had no comeback for that.
Henry had insisted she stayed with him during her recovery from her miscarriage. They had lived together for a month, so it was not weird that Henry had learned her preferences.
However, none of her friends knew that they had lived together, and Elena did not want to tell them. She would move back to her apartment at the end of the month. She had wanted to talk to Henry about it. After she had moved out, there would be no more gossip, so there was no need to tell her friends.
Luacs poured her a drink, and he sat quietly at the side. Caleb knew that Luacs was in a bad mood, but none of them could interfere with the relationship between Elena and Second Young Master Sharp. Luacs did not want to put Elena in a difficult situation. Hence, he could only silently watch over her.
When Henry returned to the table, everyone was quiet again. No one dared to be so willful in front of Second Young Master Sharp. They were still too uncomfortable to make jokes in front of him. Even though he was a kind person, he was not very approachable. None of them dared to cross the line as subordinates. Well, everyone except for Elena.
“Why does everyone stop talking as soon as I come? Am I that scary?”
Henry thought that he had been kind to Elena’s friends. He had never even lost his temper in front of them.
“Well, you are their big boss and can dismiss them at any minute. Who would dare to speak up in front of you?”
Elena glanced at him. “Unless you guarantee that you won’t fire them no matter what they say.”
“Err, no need!” Lois almost gave Elena a kick on her calf. Did she want to embarrass them on purpose that day? How dared she extract a guarantee from Second Young Master Sharp? Was she looking for trouble?
“Very well, you guys can say anything you want after working hours. As long as it does not harm the company’s interests, no one will be fired.”
Henry looked at everyone and smiled. “Are you satisfied now?”
Everyone was stunned and did not know how to react. Second Young Master Sharp seemed easy to get along with.
Layla laughed and asked tentatively, “Are you sure… that we can make any joke?”
“Why? Did you want to complain about me?” It was common for employees to grumble about their boss in secret.
“How is this possible?” He was such a good boss. They could not ask for a better boss, how would they be willing to complain about him?
Layla was just curious; she was extremely curious. She was so curious that her stomach churned.
“Then, err… Second Young Master, are you and Elena…”
Lois could not hold it any longer and interrupted Layla. “She wanted to know if both of you are in a relationship.”
Elena glared at her, but she did not take their words to heart. Everyone looked at Henry with anticipation. He took a sip of water and slowly glanced at the girl beside him.
Suddenly, his thin lips formed a smile. “Well, I wanted to, but I am still waiting for my chance.”
Elena immediately choked when she heard that. Did he say that on purpose?
When they were about to leave the restaurant, Layla and Lois immediately dragged Elena to the ladies’ room. They wanted to interrogate her!
“You said that the two of you have no special relationship with each other! Second Young Master Sharp clearly said that he was waiting for your reply!”
“He was kidding. Really, I swear!” Elena wanted to scream; why did no one believe her?
“I don’t believe you! He looked at you with such sweetness in his eyes. He must have confessed his love for you. Why didn’t you say yes? He is such a good man!”
“She’s right! Are you still thinking about Eldest Young Master Williams? Why won’t you consider Second Young Master Sharp? He is so gentle, how can that cold Eldest Young Master Williams measure up to him?”
Suddenly, a chilly voice came from the corridor. “Really?”
