“It… It was Lois… who said those things about him, right?” In hindsight, Layla realized that she had to make things clear.
“What are you talking about?” Lois was shocked by her accusation. “It was you who said that!”
Elena was too lazy to bother with them. They spotted Caleb and Luacs when they left the hotel. They had probably waited for them.
When he saw Elena, Caleb immediately went to her and whispered, “I have something to tell you.”
“Layla, please get Luacs to send both of you back first.” Elena glanced at Layla.
Layla knew that Caleb and Elena had some secrets between them. She did not want to meddle in that, so she led Lois away.
Luacs hesitated, but Elena told him, “Don’t worry. Second Young Master Sharp will wait for me.”
That simple sentence meant that Luacs did not need to wait for her, so he went off with the two other ladies. Rufus and Aryan had already left, while Henry saw an acquaintance in the hotel, so he was still inside.
Caleb pulled Elena to an inconspicuous place and whispered, “I have found Luke!”
“Really?” Elena was excited when she heard that.
He had finally found him after a month-long search. Luke was well-hidden, indeed!
“I contacted him, but he did not want to come back. He said that someone in Bentson wanted him dead.”
They had predicted that would happen. However, Elena’s heart still sank when she heard about it. Someone must have wanted to stop their investigation. They had not done anything to her yet. Perhaps their inquiries went under the radar because she had been with Henry most of the time.
“Caleb, find a way to keep in touch with him. As for the other things, let’s not do anything about that for the time being.”
Caleb was only a 19-year-old boy. It would be too demanding to let him deal with that situation.
“Okay, I won’t do much. I’ll just keep in contact with him.”
Caleb was still perturbed with what had happened to Evie. Elena also had another accident after that. Apart from Henry, who had remained by her side, none of Elena’s friends knew about what they had learned. They only knew that she had an accident.
Caleb was worried that her accident might be related to their investigations, and he had been extra cautious since then. He made sure he left no trace behind, even if it were only an Internet search result.
“Luke said that the old madam did ask him to check on some things for her, but he did not say what it was.”
“At least he admitted that the old madam contacted him.” Luke might play the most crucial part of the incident.
Elena considered it for a moment before she said, “I’ll think about what to do next. Let’s head back for now.”
“Okay.” Henry had not come out yet, so Caleb did not want to leave first.
Henry saw Elena with Layla, so he thought that she had left. He did not answer his phone when Elena called him. Perhaps it was not convenient for him to pick up the call.
“Shall I take you home first?” Caleb’s car was in the hotel’s parking garage.
“No, I’ll wait for Second Young Master Sharp. You can go first.” Elena shook her head.
Caleb looked at the hotel’s lobby. Even though he could not see Henry, there were many patrons in the lobby, and it had a lively atmosphere. She should not be in any danger there.
Caleb nodded. “Then I shall go first. Call me if something happens.”
“Okay.” After Caleb had left, Elena waited for about two minutes at the hotel’s entrance. It was only two minutes, but she seemed restless. She was quite irritable that night, and she did not want to admit that it was because of Michael. However, it was hard to deny that.
Elena took out her mobile phone and sent a message to Henry to say that she had left with her friends. Then she exhaled and put her phone away. The night was still young, and it was only about nine at night, so she walked toward the street in the distance. There was so much hustle and bustle on the road.
Elena walked amongst the crowd. She could feel her agitation drained as she continued her walk. It did not matter what had happened in the past; everything seemed to have settled and taken its place. Some couples were not meant to be together. Things had finally fallen back on track. Occasional derailments were not worthy of a mention at all. She should let go of her obsessions and move on, but could she do that?
Elena turned around and was about to return to the hotel to continue to wait for Henry. Suddenly, a sense of chilliness crept up from behind her.
Elena was so surprised that she turned around immediately and tried to escape as quickly as she could. However, something tightened around her neck. The man had managed to catch her.
Elena did not have a chance to see who had attacked her. She opened her mouth to call for help, but instead, she inhaled a strange fragrance. Then, she slipped into a state of stupor before things went dark, and she fell.
After her break up with Eldest Young Master Williams, she had lived quite a peaceful life. There had not been any accidents and attacks for the past month. Then, she had a run-in with Michael that night, and she was kidnapped again on the same night. Was Eldest Young Master Williams her nemesis?
Elena’s eyelids felt heavy before she was almost rendered unconscious. She could not open her eyes, but she could feel everything that happened around her. She was thrown into a roomy car, but it felt like a tiny room. Someone tied her hands over the top of her head, and she was abandoned there by herself. Where was that place? Whose car was it? What did they want with her?
Then she heard someone approach the car from outside. Several people in a respectful tone, but Elena was still in a daze, and she could not hear the conversation. Then, she heard the car door open, and someone had climbed into it.
Elena immediately felt at ease when she smelled the familiar scent. However, a second later, she was in fear and trepidation because of the familiarity. He had gotten someone to abduct her. What did he want with her?
Elena finally managed to open her eyes, and she saw the man next to her. He had a cigarette in his hand, and he smoked it so casually. He had not smoked much when he was with her, but that was the second time she saw him smoke that night.
Was he in a bad mood? Was that why he smoked?
Elena felt so guilty, but she knew that it was not the time for her to feel sorry for Eldest Young Master Williams. Instead, she should be worried about what he would do to her!
She shifted around, and she realized that her hands were tied and she could not move!
She looked at the quiet man with a hint of deathly stillness; she sounded fearful. “What do you… what to do?”
