All the attackers from the night before had fallen into Michael’s hands. None of them were spared, and those people were handed over to the police. However, prior to the police’s arrival, Eldest Young Master Williams’s people did their own interrogation. It was only an eventuality before they found out about the person behind the attack. The mastermind of the attack would surface soon enough.
“Mia’s ex-boyfriend?” Layla looked surprised. “It’s hard to believe that he was still so infatuated with her that he would help her to take her revenge out on us.”
“I don’t think it was infatuation. He probably only did that, so Mia would spend more time with him.”
Caleb shrugged. It was a pretty common plot twist. After all, Mia was a rare beauty. They must have had a great time together, so it was not a surprise that he wanted to relive the moment.
“So, to beg for mercy, he agreed to give Eldest Young Master Williams those videos and photos of Mia?” Elena sighed in relief. It was the same as the saying, ‘what goes around, comes around.’ One should think twice before one did any evil deed. No secret would stay buried, and righteousness would endure forever.
“Mia is totally ruined now.” Elena had no sympathy for the woman who wanted to destroy her. She only felt a little emotional at the dramatic turn of events. Who could be spared from karma?
“When she hurt us, did she consider our future?” Layla had no sympathy for Mia. She had been innocent as well, and yet she was forced to take her own life! If Elena had not saved her, could she still enjoy the barbecue and delicious crayfish with her friends? There was little compassion left in her. It was not like they had harmed another person deliberately. If Mia had not pushed them into a corner, they would not need to fight back so furiously. Mia had only herself to blame.
“I’ll go get some more crayfish.” Luacs stood up and walked toward the counter.
Just as he left, Elena’s cell phone rang. She took it out and looked at the caller ID. It was an unfamiliar number, but it turned out to be Henry! He had asked her to go and get something from a black car that had stopped by the roadside. She was dubious about it, but she went out anyway.
Elena glanced across the road. There was a black car there, indeed. It looked average, and that was in line with Henry’s unobtrusive taste. He had never liked to drive a luxury car. He would drive a low-profile vehicle, most of the time. Elena was curious about Henry’s request. Eldest Young Master Williams had not been around for two days, so he could not have passed anything to his younger brother.
She stood up and said, “I’m going out to get something. I’ll be back soon.”
“I’ll come with you.” Layla dropped the crayfish in her hand onto the plate and offered to accompany Elena as she was worried for her safety. “I’ll be fine. I’m only going to the side of the road.” Layla looked in that direction and noticed that it was a busy road. So, she let her guard down and picked up the crayfish again.
A few moments later, Luacs returned with a large plate of crayfish, but Elena was gone. “Where is Elena?” He had been worried about Elena. He was uneasy unless he knew that she had gone home to Eldest Young Master Williams or if she was within his sight.
“Elena went out to get something.” Layla and Caleb battled with the hairy crabs as they casually pointed to the other side of the road. The street was not far away from the restaurant, but he did not see Elena.
Luacs’s heart tightened. He put down the plate and hurriedly walked across the road.
“What’s wrong?” Layla, too, looked out of the window and onto the other side of the road. She could not see Elena anywhere!
“Where is Elena?” Layla was startled and she hurriedly caught up with Luacs. “She had walked toward there just now. She told us that someone had wanted to give her something, and it would only take a moment.”
Caleb had also joined them. “It has been a few minutes.”
They had been too busy with the food that they had not noticed the time. Luacs was alarmed, and his heart sank. It had only been a few minutes, so they would not have gone far. Elena had disappeared. What the hell had happened?
“Tianyou, look, Elena’s bracelet!” Layla saw something on the ground, and she quickly dashed toward it.
There was a silver bracelet by road, and it looked as if it almost slipped from the crack and into the sewer. She picked it up and examined it. It was Elena’s bracelet!
When she thought about it, she seemed to remember a car that was parked there. However, both Elena and the car were no longer in sight!
Luacs strode toward her and took the bracelet from her. It belonged to Elena. Something must have happened to her!
“Caleb, check the surveillance cameras nearby, quickly!” Suddenly attuned to danger, Caleb reacted quickly. “Okay, I will go get the laptop!”
…
Elena could detect the sound of the wind before she opened her eyes. If she was not mistaken, she could hear the waves too. Her nose even picked up the salty scent of the seawater.
She frowned and subconsciously tried to stretch her exhausted limbs. However, she quickly noticed that her hands and feet were bound. What had happened? Elena opened her eyes abruptly, and the starry night sky came into her sight. She could see the ocean too! Why was she there?
“I see that you’re finally awake?” A hoarse voice echoed nearby.
Elena struggled to sit up, and when she did, she saw Mia at the deck of a speedboat. However, she looked like she was only staring at herself. There was a sharp knife in her hand! Clean and bright, the slim-faceted, sharp blade shone under the moonlight. It was a terrifying sight.
Mia’s eyes were red and swollen. It looked like she had been crying for a long time. Her sharp gaze pierced into Elena with hatred.
“What are you doing?” As she sensed danger, Elena backed away instinctively. However, there was no way for her to run as they were confined within the area of the speedboat!
Her head throbbed as she replayed the scene in her mind. She was by the roadside when someone hit her head from behind. She had passed out after that. Then, she woke up on a boat. It looked like Mia had kidnapped her!
“You crazy b*tch! You are committing a crime!” Elena struggled violently, but the ropes on her hands and feet were so tight that she could not break away!
“Crime? Do you think I still give a f*ck?” Mia laughed scornfully at the sky. Her laugh sounded out of control, and tears rolled down her cheek. “I am already in such a shitty state. I no longer have any hope in life. Committing a crime… I don’t give a f*ck anymore!”
“Elena, I’m all-in now. I have to admit that it feels good to have you in my hand. I am so happy!” Mia laughed.
It looked like Mia had gone crazy. Elena shivered as she listened to her eerie laughter. The knife that Mia had in her hand made the matter worse! Elena struggled against the rope discreetly, but it did not loosen.
“What are you doing? Do you want to run away?” Mia finally stopped laughing. She fixed her gaunt eyes on Elena’s face, and her lips twitched into a cruel smile.
Mia prowled toward Elena, her blade poised for action. “I am not afraid of punishments anymore. So, Elena, want to guess what I would do now?”
