That night Bella was sleepless, tossing and turning on her bed. But she didn’t ask Kevin anything
Next day’s noon, while Kevin was out, she asked Alvin to come to the company. She then dived into the topic right away, “Is Mr. Kevin in trouble?”
Alvin kept silent. Obviously, he didn’t want to tell her.
“Do you really love Lena? Do you know that one would worry for someone they love? Alvin, if you love Lena, then please tell me.”
What Bella has said shocked Alvin. He signed gently, “Yes, he is in a little trouble.”
“What’s going on exactly?”
“It’s your sister, Gillian. She constantly goes against us. Mr. Kevin could buy all the stocks from Hilary. But it is because her intervention that the plan can’t proceed. And she also took advantage from this mess. Besides, the project went wrong somewhere. Anyway, Mr. Kevin is now in a very difficult situation. ”
Bella felt quite bad. She knew that Kevin might have some bumps in his business but didn’t expect to be that difficult. No wonder he laid in the bathtub last night and frowned that hard. It must be very exhausted to take it all by himself.
After the conversation with Alvin, she went to the office and packed up something, walking out the company with her bag.
Only one thought was in her mind. The car drove fast and later pulled over in front of the villa that she had been living there for ten years but felt emotionless to it.
Standing in front of the villa, she exclaimed that Gillian was in a better situation. That house, once blocked by the court, was redeemed.
She breathed deeply and stepped into the living room. A servant that Bella was unfamiliar with asked, “Miss, who are you looking for?”
“Is Master Burne-Brown here?” She asked expressionlessly.
“Master is in his study. Please wait a second. I’ll inform him.”
Bella walked to the sofa and sat down. The house was still the same as before. Nothing changed. Soon she heard footsteps coming, raising her head. Her eyes locked with Wilson Burne-Brown’s.
Once seeing her, Wilson went sullen, asked coldly, “What are you doing here?”
“I’m coming to visit you.”
“To see whether I’m dead?”
Wilson queried in derision. It was obvious that he was complaining about Bella.
“If I want someone to die, and later he actually dies, how could you expect yourself to live up to now?”
Bella refuted in composure. Wilson remained in silence.
He knew that someone anonymous had sent him clothes and food when he was in jail these years. Though that person never showed up, he knew it was Bella.
Bella left B City for two years but she has been taking care of her father all the time. Even though she was unable to send stuff to the jail in person, she mailed it there.
She never wanted Wilson to feel grateful for her, she was just performing a daughter’s duty despite the fact that she didn’t have to take care of this ungrateful man.
“Tell me, why do you come here?”
After a moment of silence, Wilson spoke up. He was sure that Bella would not show up here for no reasons.
“Talk some sense to your baby girl, Gillian.”
“What about her?”
“She constantly works against Kevin. I know that it is useless to talk to her, so I count on you to convince her to stop.”
Wilson looked down, “Gillian is not as powerful as you think.”
“She is not powerful, but she has found someone who got her back.”
“What do you want me to do?”
“Like I said, I want you to stop her. The reason you two can still stand right here is that I still had some sympathy for you before. And why would you make things difficult for me? ”
“So we have to feel grateful to you, do we?”
Suddenly there was an ironic voice coming from behind. Bella turned around in shock, seeing that Gillian somehow stood at the door with two bodyguards.
“Gillian.”
Wilson stood up. The way he saw Gillian was different from the way he saw Bella. He saw Gillian with a father’s love, which hurt Bella’s heart badly.
“Dad, It looks like I have to arrange a few gatekeepers for you, otherwise whatever people can access to our house.”
Bella looked poised. It was not her first time to be jeered by Gillian.
“What are you doing here at my home? I’m really curious about what makes you dare to step into my door?”
With her arms crossed on her chest, Gillian stood in front of Bella like a queen. Bella remained silent for few moments and then stood up, looking askance to Wilsom, saying, “It seems we can’t continue this talk. I’ll see you next time.”
“Stop.”
Gillian shouted at her, “You think our house is a hotel that you can come as you please?”
Gillian walked to Bella’s front, “You come to ask my father to convince me not to go against Kevin any more, don’t you?” She laughed, quite ironically, then said, “You should have talked to me. What could help to talk to my father? You inflicted few years of prison on my father. How do you think that he would be willing to help you?”
Bella didn’t want to quarrel with her out of impulsion. So she bypassed her and walked on.
“Kneel down. If you kneel down in front of me, then I can write off our old scores. And we will no longer interfere with each other business.”
“You wish.” Bella turned her head and rebutted angrily.
“Then don’t blame on me for being ruthless to you.”
The two bodyguards were standing at the door, Gillian gestured with her eyes to them, then they stopped Bella.
“What are you doing?”
“I said, kneel down in front of me, then we write off those bad things you have done to our family.”
Bella was in a dilemma now with enemies both in the front and behind. She refrained her anger and looked askance to her father, “Are you really not going to do anything and just watch? Or you want me to kneel down to her?”
Wilson chose to remain silent. He said nothing.
Her father’s attitude disappointed her tremendously. She queried Gillian apathetically, “What if I don’t?”
The two bodyguards walked up to her with one man holding her arm and forcing her to kneel down.
“Let me go. If you hurt the children in my belly, Kevin would kill you.”
Bella struggled effortully.
“Look at you. I’ve heard that you were unable to have children. Now you must really love the children in your belly. Now that you should be smarter, just kneel down, and everything is over. I wouldn’t force as you forced my mom and I to kneel down in front of your mother’s tomb for a day and a night. As long as you are willing to kneel down, everything is settled.”
“I said, don’t even dream about it.”
Bella’s tough attitude infuriated Gillian, she order relentlessly, “Such being the case, then make her kneel down!”
The two men held her arms again. But they were afraid to hurt her children in her belly, so they didn’t push too hard. And the three just stayed in that position. Bella looked at Wilson the second time, seeing that her father was still indifferent to it. Then, those grudge and grievance that have been built up in her heart for years burst out suddenly.
Somehow there was a strength coming from nowhere help her get rid of the two man’s grip. She madly rushed in front of her father, grabbing his collar, asked, “Am I not your daughter? My blood isn’t coming from you? How could you not even bat an eye when seeing me in this kind of situation? Now that you hate me so much, why did you bring me to this world? Because of your negligence, I have suffered for many years. When I was seven, I washed dishes in the filthy night market. When you drove by and saw me being weak and tired, have you never felt any guilty? Ten years old, my mom took me to your door, begging you to take me in. We stayed there for two days without having any food or water. Have you never thought that the kid might be hungry? That kid would feel sad for her father’s apathy. Twelve years old, you and your wife locked me in a pitch dark closet and took off my mother’s oxygen mask, have you ever thought that it might traumatize the kid and make her lose her only family? Between my age of 12 to 18, you watched your wife and daughter bullied me, have you never thought, even once, that the kid might feel hurt? Over the past 30 years, have you feel any regretful for ruining a woman’s whole life and half of your daughter’s life. I never complained, but it didn’t mean I wasn’t holding grudge against you. I never cried for pain, but it didn’t mean I didn’t feel hurt. I’m also made of flesh and blood. I feel sad that I couldn’t have my father’s love as well. But why do you think you are not wrong even up to date? When can you see the scars in the heart of your unwanted daughter…”
Bella said this while wailing. Every word was touching and she cried grievingly even the two bodyguards were moved.
Wilson first calmly listened to her trenchant queries and then was stirred finally. First he went pale then pale as a ghost. If say he didn’t never regret before, he did actually…
Bella wiped her tears and spoke again, “As you can see, now I‘m finally getting better off. But my happiness is that unbearable to you? Even a vicious tiger will not eat his child but you want me to live in hell. This is my first and only time letting out my rage and resent to you. And this is also my last time. Since the day my mother died, I’ve told myself that I’m an orphan now. Up to now, this fact is not changed. I don’t feel regretted but just relieved. I have let out the words that I thought I would never bother to say to you.”
