A wretched smile hung on her face. She turned around sullenly and walked to the door step by step. The two bodyguards stood still and Gillian suddenly went wide awake from her shock. She was startled by Bella’s crazy reaction. Since she came to her sense now, she roared, “Stop her!”
“Let her go!”
Wilson bellowed. Startled again, Gillian said, “Dad, are you crazy? Did you forget who inflicted those agonizing sufferings on us?”
Bella walked out of the Burne-Brown’s house without any hindrance. Maybe, this is her last time stepping into this place.
In the living room, Wilson’s eyes were suddenly red, “Gillian, please stop, stop working against your sister.”
“Sister?” Gillian’s eyes were wide open as if she heard the funniest joke, “Dad, you have never said that she is my sister. And now you suddenly said so, does it mean you have admitted that she is your daughter?”
“Fact can’t be skewed. It’s not up to me to change it regardless of my acknowledgment. I have never said that she was my daughter, but I’ve also never denied it.”
“Dad, I think you must be confused! It is all because of her that our family is now in a reduced situation. How could you get fooled by her tears? How could I not know that you are such a benevolent person? ”
Wilson sighed, calmly said, “It’s not because I have a tender heart. Just suddenly I feel her words did make sense. Since I wasn’t intended to have her as my daughter in my life, I should have stayed away from her mother. And because of my romantic nature that brought her into this world, I should have assumed the responsibility of her but I never did. What she has suffered surpassed any of us. Even if I had to stay in jail for another 20 years, I’m afraid that I can’t make up to her and her mother…”
Gillian couldn’t accept her father’s confession. She roared, “Now it seems that I shouldn’t have got you out of the jail. You want to confess to the vixen mother and daughter? I should have kept you in jail. You are crazy, absolutely crazy. ”
“Gillian, I know what happened to your mom irritated you. But think about it, how did your sister pull through all of it? Compared to her, you are much better off. So please stop making things difficult for her. Don’t you want to send me abroad? Let’s go together and never come back?”
“No!”
Wilson grabbed her arm and she threw it away, bellowed with fury, “That’s just your own idea. It is just you who feels indebted to her. I never feel this way. All I know is that she is the one who ruins our family. As long as I feel bothered by her, she won’t be able to have an easy life! If I die, I would drag her with me! ”
It was twilight when Bella got back home. After leaving the Burne Brown’s villa, she drove along the seaside for quite a while and then went home till she felt a bit better.
Upon arriving at home, Kevin asked worriedly, “Where have you been? Why didn’t you pick up the phone?”
Her eyes turned red and she said, “I’m ok. I’m just tired. I’ll go upstairs and have a rest. I already had dinner outside. You don’t have to call me for dinner.”
Watching her back sight receding lonelily, Kevin rushed after. Once in the bedroom, he asked unpleasantly, “Where have you been exactly?”
She remained silent for few seconds and replied in a low voice, “I went to see my father.”
Kevin rubbed his hair furiously, “You went to see Wilson just as I expected, why did you go to visit him? I’ve told you, don’t see him again. Why didn’t you listen to me?”
He didn’t try to conceal his anger. Tears blurred Bella’s eyes, “I just wanted Wilson to convince Gillian not to go against you anymore.”
“What’s the point to talk to him? Is Gillian a three-year-old? Will she listen to your parents? I’ve told you already, you shouldn’t interfere with anything. Why can’t you give me a break?”
Kevin raised his tone. Bella was devastated when she went to see his father. And the reason she came back late is that she was trying to adjust herself and finally she regained her peace but was ruined by Kevin’s reproach. She felt sad even more, her tears trickling down, “Sorry, please don’t get mad at me. I just want to share your burden. Even though I can’t share much, I still want to do something for you. Is it wrong for someone who wants to help someone she loves? You told me not to involve in your things. But I’m your wife, and my husband is in trouble now, how could I stay immune to it? You think I wouldn’t know your business issues if you don’t tell me. I’m not somebody else, I’m Bella who loves you and nothing can’t fool your beloved person’s eyes. Watching you being preoccupied and lying in the bathtub, I feel frustrated when there is nothing I can do about it. I don’t just want to be a good mom, I want to be a good wife more, a wife who can share burden with her husband…”
Her tears were in torrents now, “I knew that Wilson would not be nice to me. I have premeditated all the bad reaction he might have. But I still couldn’t control myself. I thought things might have been different this time. Maybe after he has suffered from years of imprisonment, he would feel a sense of guilt and say yes to my request, but Gillian was back. Even though I didn’t be of any help to you, I don’t feel regret at all. At least, I have tried for you. I gave my best shot. But… I just feel unfair. I was suffered there and you scolded me when I was back. I feel I’m more useless now…”
Kevin’s rage suddenly toned down. Moved by her words, he reached out and took her into his arms, “you dummy, your accompany and your smile is the greatest help to me. I don’t need you to put up with others’ cold shoulder. Promise me, never beg for anyone’s help anymore. Even though I lose everything, it’s enough for me to just have you and our babies.”
Bella nodded gently and replied with a nasal muffled “En”.
“I knew it would worry you so I didn’t tell you anything. I know you love me just as how much I love you. It’s all good as long as we know we love each other. We don’t have to do something for each other. For you, I’m your sky, and for me, you, Bella, are my ground. The greatest happiness doesn’t lie in wealth or fame but in the freedom that we can see the sky while standing on the ground and can look at the ground while in the sky. No matter how far we go, how high we fly, the sky and ground are inseparable. And this is the greatest happiness for me.”
Kevin’s talk on love warmed Bella’s heart and delighted her heart instantly. Soon they were messy around each other, leaving behind all the unpleasant things that had occurred during the day.
Later Bella felt a little bit tired after they were joking around. She went to take a bath. While taking off her underwear, she just couldn’t undo the button. Out of anxiety, she called Kevin, “Honey, please come here for a second.”
“What’s wrong?” Kevin walked in.
“Please help me undo this.”
Looking at her body from head to toe, Kevin swallowed hard for a while and reached out to untie her buttons. His fingers were long and teased her back, feeling like a feather brushing by. Pretty comfortable.
“You can go now. I’m taking my bath.”
Bella’s one foot was about to go in the bathtub, Kevin hugged her from the behind, “Kevin.” She looked askance a bit and was intended to say something but was stopped by Kevin’s husky voice, “Don’t say anything. Let me just hug you for a while.”
“If you really want, we can…”
“No, that’s ok. I’ll just hold it back.”
Who knows how hard it was when Kevin said this. A while ago, he and Bella went to antenatal care. They saw a pregnant woman cried so hard. When asked, they found out that her husband wanted to have sex with her every time he drank, which resulted in the accidental miscarriage of the child. So after they left the hospital, Bella looked very pale. It seemed she was startled very much. Kevin loved Bella very much. He wouldn’t dare to do anything no matter how horny he felt.
He hugged her for a while before reluctantly letting her go and quickly turned around, “I’ll leave you taking the bath, call me if you need anything.”
“Yeah, sure.”
Bella really cared about Kevin. He was afraid that he couldn’t hold it so that he spoke to her with his back against her.
After bathing, she went out and Kevin wasn’t in the room. Lifting the quilt, she laid down on the bed and fell asleep quickly…
She cried hard in the afternoon and was really exhausted.
At the midnight, she heard the sound of door-opening. The footsteps were familiar to her. He was afraid to wake her up so walked straight to the bathroom to shower.
After she woke up, she couldn’t fall asleep. Bella sat up and turned on the lamp. She actually didn’t have anything at dinner and felt a little hungry. So she tiptoed to the kitchen downstairs to have some snacks.
It scared Kevin that when he didn’t see Bella on the bed after he showered. When he was about to look for her downstairs, they bumped into each other.
“Where have you been? I was worried about you. ”
Kevin’s heart settled after seeing her. Bella smiled and wiped her mouth, “I had some food on the sly.”
“Guess what did I have?”
She opened her mouth to let him smell. He took a deep breath, “Strawberry.” Her mouth smelled of fresh strawberry.
“Yeah.”
She smiled and laid down on the bed again, “Why are you taking shower so late, have you been working?”
“Yes.”
The two took a shower one after another and were ready to sleep. They turned off the light, Bella suddenly said, “Oh, I forget to tell you something.”
