Bella was in her room sorting out the books she had brought back from her mother’s house when the sliding door behind her was rudely pulled open.
Kevin strode forward and yanked her arm, indignantly questioning, “Do you still have your dignity? Why are you still back?”
She was startled, and replied bluntly, “I just don’t want to be your car back. I don’t say I’m ever coming back.”
“Do you think I’d want a wife who plays missing?”
“Do you want to divorce me?”
“What? Can’t I divorce you yet?”
Bella nodded boldly, “Yes, of course you can’t divorce me.”
Kevin scoffed coldly, “Am I breaking the law by divorcing you?”
“No, but…” She paused, “I might not be able to keep my mouth shut.”
“What do you mean?”
Bella did not answer, but she slowly looked downward to his penis. Kevin was suddenly aware of it, and his face fell, “I’ll get you to face the music if you dare to talk nonsense!”
“As long as I’m your wife, I won’t say what I shouldn’t say. So don’t ever think of divorcing me for the sake of your dignity.”
“Do you want to be my wife that badly?” Kevin nodded, “Fine, I won’t divorce you. I’ll torture you slowly. I’m good at making women quit.”
After he said that, he sneered, turned around and left her room, closing the door as roughly as he had come.
In the downstairs living room, the maids had already prepared dinner, which was three hours later than usual. Kevin pulled out a chair and sat down. Blanche glared at him and instructed the maid beside her, “Go call Bella down for dinner.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
The maid went and returned, respectfully reporting, “Young lady said she was not feeling well and went to bed first, so we don’t have to wait for her.”
Lena couldn’t help but mutter, “It must be that Kevin just said something harsh to her. She was still fine when she came back.”
Kevin raised his eyebrows, “Are you sure you want to really take up the cudgel for that woman?”
“Listen, listen, you always call her that woman. Isn’t that woman your wife?”
When questioned by Patrick, he answered naturally, “So what if it’s a wife? It doesn’t necessarily mean I have to call her my wife all the time.”
“Don’t be glib. Go bring her down to dinner.”
“No.”
Blanche stood up sharply, “You’re not going, are you? OK, then I won’t eat the diner.”
Lena immediately echoed, “I’m not eating either.”
Patrick was even more direct, getting up and heading straight for the study.
When did the cohesion in this family become so good? Even Blanche herself had no way of knowing.
No matter how untamed and cold-blooded Kevin was, he was only treating people other than his family bad. Seeing his parents and sister go on a hunger strike, he pinched his eyebrows and slumped up and said, “I really can’t stay here.”
Bella did not really sleep, but was patiently reviewing the course to be taught tomorrow. She suddenly heard the door open, and knew who was coming.
He walked to her in anger, without saying a word, close the book in her hand, “You come downstairs with me to eat within a minute.”
