Chapter 457 Torturing Him

Summer’s reaction was a little slow this time. She stared at Leonardo for a few seconds before she realized that he was lecturing her.
“If you hadn’t picked me up, what else could I have done except crawl back?” She bit her lip, and when she spoke, it sounded as if she was riling him up.
However, that was not the case.
Even if Leonardo did not bail her out, Jessica would.
As if behavior was contagious, after she spent some time with Leonardo, Summer sensed that she had become just as mean as he was.
“Just so you know…” Leonardo scanned her.
When his eyes arrived at her chest, he quickly looked away. “… If you get drunk and get hauled to the police station again next time, you can crawl back on your own!”
Summer noticed his stare and looked down at herself. Only then did she realize that she already had a shower as well as a change of clothing, and she was wearing nothing inside.
No wonder Leonardo behaved so strangely earlier.
She instinctively placed her hands in front of her chest but immediately found it really unnecessary. For a moment, she turned into a deer in headlights, unsure of whether to pull back her hand or not.
“Who helped to give me a shower?” She changed the subject, appearing uneasy.
Leonardo had read her mind and chuckled. “You thought it was me?”
A fleeting sense of embarrassment showed up on her face. She had really thought that moments ago. She remembered Leonardo helping her with it in the past. Judging by his sarcastic reply, it was clear that he did not help her shower earlier.
Without waiting for her to respond, Leonardo went around her and left the room.
Summer looked back, watching as Leonardo disappeared out of the doorway. She scurried over to close the door, then dropped back in bed irritably. This Leonardo was really trying her patience.
She covered her head with the duvet as she kept reminding herself to torture Leonardo the same he was torturing her once he finally recovered his memories.
She fell into a daze and dozed off as she thought of it.

When she woke up the next morning, she felt something moving on the bed.
She propped herself up, and her eyes met a pair of extremely beautiful, lucid eyes.
“Rosie!” Summer carried her in her arms in excitement.
Rosie chuckled as she coiled her arms around Summer’s neck. “Why are you here, Mommy?” She did not see her mom around when she went to sleep the night before.
Recalling how drunk she was and that she was brought to the police station last night, Summer felt a little guilty.
“Oh, I came quietly last night.” She pressed her lips together.
“Huh?” Rosie was confused at first, but she nodded soon after. “Oh, quietly.”
Seeing that Rosie was still in her pajamas, Summer changed the subject. “Let Mommy clean you up and brush your teeth.”
Half an hour later, Summer and Rosie had sorted themselves and gotten changed. By the time they came downstairs, Leonardo was already sitting at the dining table.
He had a newspaper in his hands, and when both of them came in, he did not look up at them. He just kept his eye on the newspaper.
Summer thought of the news regarding Jerome and her being photographed by the media. She said nothing and just ate her breakfast quietly.
Rosie, on the other hand, was restless. She reached to grab the newspaper in Leonardo’s hand curiously. “What are you looking at, Daddy?”
Leonardo raised the newspaper higher in the air to avoid Rosie’s hand. “I’m reading the paper.” His indifferent voice came from behind the newspaper.
“Ahh.” Rosie nodded her head in satisfaction when she received an answer, though she did not know what a newspaper really was. She did not bother him after that, just focusing on her meal.
It was Summer who became curious and glanced at Leonardo.
She only remembered what had happened last night right then, in the morning.
She specifically recalled the moments on her way back from the police station to Leonardo’s mansion.
It was especially embarrassing to think about it.
Lately, it had become normal for her to stalk Leonardo, but if she was not mistaken, Leonardo and her had been in a cold war up until last night.
It might also be possible that she was the only one who thought she was at war with Leonardo, who might not want to see her at all.
When that crossed her mind, Summer lost the mood to steal a glance at Leonardo. Her appetite went too.
She was not really eating anything besides finishing a glass of milk. She then patted Rosie on the head. “Mommy has to go now. Be a good girl, Rosie.”
“Where are you going, Mommy?” Rosie looked up at her, feeling confused.
Summer thought for a moment. “I’m going back to work. Mommy’s been busy lately. You’ll have to stay with your dad for now.”
“Okay.” Rosie nodded.
She only had a vague idea of what working was. Nonetheless, that was enough for her to have a vague understanding of what Summer meant.
After she coaxed Rosie, Summer looked over at Leonardo, who was still reading the paper. “Thank you for yesterday. I’m leaving now.”
She did not immediately move but sat in the chair for a few seconds.
Knowing that Leonardo would not take his eyes off the newspaper to look at her, she got to her feet and left.
It was only after Summer left that Leonardo threw the newspaper aside.
Rosie put her mouth to the edge of her plate and scraped some fried egg into her mouth as she looked up at Leonardo.
When she saw the dark rings around Leonardo’s eyes, she chortled. “Daddy has panda eyes.”
Leonardo’s expression froze. He then gave his fried egg to Rosie. “You should eat more.”
Rosie kept looking at his face curiously while she had her breakfast.
People said Rosie’s eyes looked like his, but he thought otherwise. They looked more like Summer’s.
Rosie was only a child. He could not have possibly said whatever he wanted to her like how he talked to Summer. So, he looked away to avoid her stare.
When he returned to his bedroom the previous night, he found himself staring at the ceiling the entire night. He just could not sleep.
Had he not blocked his face with the newspaper, Summer’s mind would have come up with some crazy speculation when she saw the dark circles under his eyes.

Once out of Leonardo’s mansion, Summer took out her mobile phone to call Jessica.
Her call was immediately picked up. Judging from the flight announcement in the background, Jessica had to be at the airport.
“You’re at the airport already?” Summer asked.
“Yeah, I’m boarding now.” While Jessica spoke, she handed a cup of water to her assistant, then walked to one side. “Big Boss collected you last night? Did he take you back to his house?”
When she arrived at the police station to bail Summer out, the police told her that someone had already bailed her out. Before she left, a female police officer had asked for her autograph.
