Summer looked silently at Vicky as she went away.
“At last, she is gone.” Jessica breathed a sigh of relief. Turning back and seeing Summer still staring in the direction where Vicky went, she asked with concern, “Are you all right, Summer?”
Summer differed from last time. She remembered nothing and could have been frightened by Vicky. Jessica thought it was her fault, she was not careful enough.
Summer looked over at Jessica and asked, “Who is Vicky? Are we related?”
Since Summer was calm, Jessica was less worried. “She is your half-elder sister.”
“My mom is her stepmom?” Summer’s expression became strange.
“Yup.” Jessica nodded.
Summer thought for a moment. “Typical stepmothers would ill-treat their stepchildren. Vicky seems to hate me a lot. Did my mom abuse her?”
Jessica’s mouth twitched. For a moment, she did not know what to do. Karen treated Vicky way better than she treated her biological daughter. No way she would abuse her.
Summer looked at Jessica, feeling puzzled. Jessica said, “No, it’s hard to explain it clearly now. Anyway, that’s not the most important…”
Summer seemed to have sensed that Jessica had something else to say. So she chimed in. “But Stanley says he is my fiancé. I think he isn’t lying. So if he is my fiancé, how could I and Leonardo be husband and wife? I’m not saying that you lie to me. It’s just that I feel…”
“Aunt Jarrett.”
The voice of Rosie suddenly came. Summer turned around and saw Leonardo and Rosie walking in her direction. Rosie looked as if she could not wait for a second longer as she pulled Leonardo and ran toward her. In contrast, Leonardo looked cool, calm, and collected as he followed Rosie from behind.
“Rosie, what are you doing here?” Summer was surprised to see her.
“Lunch.” Rosie came before Summer and immediately let go of Leonardo’s hand as she looked up at her.
Jessica involuntarily stepped back when she saw Leonardo, who had also noticed her. He remembered she told him that Amber was not Rosie’s biological mother. What surprised him more was that she also knew Summer. It seemed that things were becoming more and more interesting.
Summer thought of what Jessica said, and now, looking at Rosie, she had a mixed feeling. Was Rosie really her daughter? She and Leonardo used to be a couple? While thinking so, her eyes locked onto Leonardo involuntarily. She carefully observed him. She could not believe that Leonardo and she used to cross paths with each other. Also, she found nothing in him that attracted her.
Leonardo seemed to have noticed that Summer was staring at him. He looked at her with his black penetrating eyes. Rosie’s eyes looked like hers and yet more adorable.
Just then, Tim had parked up the car and came in. He was startled to see Jessica and Summer here. He nodded and greeted them. “Hello, Ms. Patel, Ms. Jarrett.”
Summer nodded to him in acknowledgment.
Jessica was surprised. “Tim?”
She did not know Tim had returned to work for Leonardo. Since Leonardo had gotten Tim back to work for him, did that mean Leonardo no longer trusted Kate as before? Should she bring things out in the open since everyone was here? Thinking of this, she shot a look at Tim, who got her hint and stepped up half a step in front of Leonardo.
“Young Master, I have made a private dining room reservation.”
Leonardo responded with an “Mhm” and held Rosie and was about to walk away.
Rosie pulled her hand back and ran toward Summer. “I want Aunt Jarrett with me.”
Leonardo pursed his lips, his face giving out no emotions.
“As you like,” he said before he turned around and walked away. It meant he did not oppose it.
“Aunt Jarrett, let’s go…” Rosie held Summer’s hand and followed behind Leonardo excitedly.
Summer could never bring herself to say no to Rosie. So she followed Rosie and went into the private dining room.
After the family of three disappeared into the room, Jessica brought Tim to one side. “When did you start to work for Big Boss again? I saw you were still at Tip Top Entertainment a few days ago.”
“It has been a few days.”
“Then did you tell Big Boss about his relationship with Summer?” Jessica asked eagerly.
“Haven’t. But Young Master asked me to background-check on Mrs. Emerson. I suspect that someone had tempered with Mrs. Emerson’s past record.” Jessica was not an outsider to him, so Tim had no intention of hiding it from her.
“Who did that?” Since Jessica found Summer, she was too occupied with finding a way to reunite Summer and Leonardo. She had never thought of such a thing.
Tim looked solemn. “Maybe it was Kate. Or maybe it was Stanley.”
“Stanley? The man who claims himself as Summer’s fiancé?” Jessica had a deep impression on Stanley.
“Do you still remember Mrs. Emerson and a man were on the news three years ago?”
“I can’t exactly recall that.” Jessica was busy and knew not much about what happened to Summer back then.
Tim was seen knitting his brows together. “Stanley was the man on the news with Mrs. Emerson back then. Young Master used to ask me to conduct background checks on him at the time. But when Adams’s incident broke out, the investigation was abandoned.”
“Stanley was with Summer since three years ago, which means Stanley knew Summer.”
“No one would save a woman who was injured badly and in a coma for no reason. He has even stayed beside her for three years.”
Jessica and Tim became silent.
Jessica bit her lip and said, “The most important thing now is to reunite them.”
“Reunite who?”
Leonardo was heard saying out of nowhere. Jessica and Tim looked back and saw Leonardo stood at the doorway, face solemn. God knows how long he had been standing there and how much he had heard.
Tim was transfixed. And after a moment, he greeted, “Young Master.”
Leonardo’s eyes swept over their faces and instructed, “You two, come in.”
Tim and Jessica looked at each other and followed him inside.
Leonardo casually took out his mobile phone and put it in front of Rosie with a cartoon. After Leonardo had Rosie occupied, he turned to them.
“Now, tell me.”
He leaned back in the chair with his legs crossed casually, his eyes sharp and commanding respect.
