Chapter 386 Expecting Me to Contact You Through Telepathy

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Summer saw Leonardo’s solemn face and could vaguely guess something. But she said nothing and just glanced at Jessica.
Feeling the pressure under the stare from Leonardo, Jessica could only oblige.
“Let Summer and Rosie reunite. Summer is Rosie’s biological mother.”
Jessica had told Summer about this before, so it did not surprise her anymore. She now turned her eyes on Leonardo, who happened to look over at her. Their eyes met, looking at each other in the eyes for two seconds before parting.
Leonardo chuckled and asked, “What else?”
“You two are husband and wife.” Jessica had told Summer about this before. She carefully studied Leonardo’s reaction. Leonardo never showed his emotion on his face, and this time was no different. He remained silent and no one could know what was in his mind.
Feeling anxious, Jessica nudged Summer by pulling at the corner of her clothes. She knew that whatever Summer said, Leonardo would listen.
Even though they both had lost their memories, Leonardo still sent Tim to do background checks on Summer. Not only that, but he had also moved to the apartment unit right opposite Summer’s. What did that tell her? It meant that even though they both could remember nothing, Summer was still special to Leonardo.
Sometimes, the connection between two persons is predetermined by fate. Even if they are apart and have forgotten each other, the mutual attraction stays.
Jessica believed this was how things worked.
Summer could see that Jessica was asking for her help. She pressed her lips together, and then with a calm voice, she said, “This might sound ridiculous. But I trust Jessica. She is not lying…”
While Summer spoke, Leonardo had no change in his expression. But he had tilted his head and was looking at her, apparently focusing on what she had to say. So long as he took in what she said.
Summer paused, glancing at Rosie, who was still occupied with the cartoon, unaffected by the serious stuff the adults said. She even chuckled when she saw some funny scenes. Seeing that, Summer’s expression softened together with her voice.
“Let me and Rosie perform a DNA test, which is the most effective way.”
The moment her voice trailed off, all eyes were on at Leonardo, who sat there with a gloomy look. But no one could tell what he was thinking.
Summer’s hands clenched together involuntarily under the table. She almost could not believe what Jessica said. Let alone Leonardo, who was Emerson Corporation’s president and having a fiancée.
A thought suddenly came to mind, and Summer asked Leonardo, “You have lost your memory, too?”
Since the moment Jessica told her this thing, her focus had been on Rosie all the time. Because she liked Rosie, her entire attention was on whether Rosie was her daughter. She had never thought of whether she and Leonardo were husband and wife. After all, Leonardo was only a stranger to her, and she had only known him recently.
At first, she thought Leonardo would ignore her. The next moment, he warned everyone at the scene. “I supposed everyone here is smart enough to know what to say and what not to say to the public.”
Summer was startled for a while, then she got the message. “Understood.”
Leonardo was Emerson Corporation’s president; everything about him would intricately be linked to Emerson Corporation. If outsiders knew he had lost his memory three years ago, it would affect the share price of the company.
Leonardo looked pleased. “My man will handle this. When there is a result, my man will inform Ms. Jarrett.” He then looked over at Summer.
Summer was transfixed; she could not expect that he would agree to it so quickly. So she nodded her head at once. “Okay.”
Leonardo’s brow raised, and he was still staring at her. While Summer was still a little confused, he cocked an eyebrow and said impatiently, “By not giving me your contact number, are you expecting me to contact you through telepathy?”
Summer was struck dumb, then quickly took out her mobile phone and exchanged contact numbers with Tim. In reality, when Tim did background checks on Summer earlier, he had known everything about her, including her telephone number. So Tim could not work out why Leonardo still had to ask Summer for her contact number.
All of a sudden, Leonardo said again, “If Ms. Jarrett isn’t Rosie’s biological mother, what are you all going to do? My time is too precious to be wasted on time wasters.”
Hearing that, Jessica pointed her finger at her head and spelled out, “Should you find I lie, you can have my head!”
Jessica sounded absolutely confident, yet Leonardo just shot her an indifferent look. He then turned to look at Summer and asked calmly, “What about Ms. Jarrett?”
Summer was wide-eyed; did she have to be held responsible for anything? This was supposed to be between her and Leonardo from the very beginning. She laughed in frustration.
“What if Rosie is my daughter? What will you do about that, Mr. Emerson?”
Leonardo sneered, “Even if she is your daughter, nothing is going to change.”
His intention was obvious; even if Summer was Rosie’s biological mother, he would not give Rosie to her. Summer got hot under the collar, but she also knew that it was not the time to harp on it. She glanced at Rosie again, and her heart softened.

With the exception of Rosie and Leonardo, the rest of them basically did not have much appetite because they all were in a stew of their own.
As they emerged from the Golden Cauldron, Jessica looked at Summer. “Let me give you a ride.”
“I’m not a child. I can call a cab.” Summer’s eyes drifted toward Leonardo involuntarily, but she just glanced at him and quickly moved her eyes on Rosie, who was using both hands to grab the door as she tried to climb into the car. But her legs were too short for the job. Leonardo was standing behind her, but he did not seem to want to give Rosie a hand.
“How did you get in last time?” Instead of helping her, Leonardo stood back and watched on with his arms crossed.
Rosie screwed up her nose and kept climbing reluctantly.
Just then, Leonardo casually spoke. “Ice cream as a reward tonight.”
Before this, Rosie was still struggling, but when she heard what Leonardo said, she magically flipped herself inside and sat in the seat with her eyes wide open, seeking confirmation from Leonardo. “Ice cream tonight?”
Jessica saw how the father and daughter interacted and said sarcastically, “Tsk, tsk, tsk. That’s sly—like you?”
“Well, maybe it’s Mr. Emerson.” Summer pulled back her gaze and looked back at Jessica. “I think Mr. Emerson is pretty smart.”
