Chapter 326 Bewitched?

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

Leonardo could not have cared less for the so-called proof that Carl was talking about, so he hung up on him.
Despite that, Carl did not give up just yet.
Leonardo may have exploited him, but Leonardo also paid him a handsome bonus at the end of every year. Hence, even if he thought Leonardo was inhumane, he still treated Leonardo as his brother.
As soon as Leonardo sat down in his office, he received a WeChat notification on his mobile phone. Taking a glance and realizing that it was a message from Carl, he ignored it, put aside his mobile phone, and started working.
On the other end, when Carl did not get a reply from Leonardo, he knew that Leonardo had ignored his message on purpose. He still refused to give up and called Tim.
“President Jones, is there anything I can help you with?” Tim asked while he photocopied a document.
“I’m sending you a news link on WeChat. Please open it and let Leonardo see it. But, I need you to hold him down.”
“What?” Tim did not get what Carl meant.
Just as Tim was about to ask again, he heard the disconnect tone, and the line went dead. So, he checked his WeChat and saw an unread message from Carl. He opened it up and sure enough, he saw a link. Following that, he further received two more messages from Carl.
“You must let Leonardo see this.
“You must hold him down!”
Tim was a little baffled; what could have caused Carl to become so serious? He opened the link and a bold, black headline spread across his field of vision. His mouth twitched involuntarily.
“Leonardo’s ex-wife nabs a new lover, in-car fiery kisses”
There were a few photographs below the headline showing a man and woman kissing in a car. The man was wearing a green hoodie with a BB cap on, so his face was concealed, but the woman’s side profile told him that it was Summer.
Tim recognized both of them; they were Summer and Leonardo. He could see Leonardo wearing the clothes he had helped him choose the day before. It fit him perfectly.
Tim then proceeded to go to Leonardo with his mobile phone. Standing in front of the president’s office, he gave the door a couple of knocks.
“Come in.” Leonardo was heard saying from the inside.
“What is it?” Leonardo asked with a frown when Tim came in.
“I need you to see this,” Tim said and placed his mobile phone in front of Leonardo.
The screen showed the photograph of Leonardo and Summer kissing in the car. As Leonardo scrolled up the page, he saw the bold headline.
“Leonardo’s ex-wife?” He smirked.
He and Summer were a legally married couple, but news about Summer that had been surfacing online recently labeled her as his ex-wife.
Tim stood beside him and asked, “Young Master, what should we do?”
After a few seconds, Leonardo calmly said, “I don’t want to see news labeling Summer as my ex-wife again.”
Tim was puzzled. Was clarifying the matter or suppressing the news not more important now? Before he could think of saying anything, Leonardo’s mobile phone rang.
Leonardo took a glimpse. It was Carl haunting him again. However, he thought of what Carl had said and guessed that Carl might have misunderstood something. After pondering for a moment, he answered the call.
Before he even opened his mouth, Carl comforted him. “Leonardo, don’t get so worked up. Isn’t there a saying online that goes, ‘If you want to live a happier life, sometimes you’ve got to shut your eyes to things’?”
Leonardo did not hang up but instructed Tim, “Now get Carl a neuro specialist. Get the best one.”
Tim never disobeyed Leonardo’s order, and his mouth twitched as he acknowledged, “Aye.”
When Carl heard what Leonardo said, he went ape.
“Leonardo, I’ve asked experts, and they confirmed with me that the photograph isn’t digitally altered. Why can’t you trust me? Are you bewitched or something?”
“You’re the one who’s bewitched.” Leonardo hung up and dragged his telephone number into the blacklist.

Summer received a call from Jessica just when she was about to go out.
“Let’s hang out and have a cup of tea,” Jessica said.
“You have time now? I’m okay with that.” Usually, Jessica was busier than Summer, whose time was more flexible. As long as Jessica wanted to see her, she would make time for her.
“Yeah,” Jessica answered.
They agreed to meet in a restaurant near Summer’s residence. Summer arrived before Jessica did, and it was not until over ten minutes later did Jessica appear, fully armed in sunglasses and a BB cap.
After Jessica sat down, Summer asked, “Why did you ask me out for tea this early?” Jessica could have slept the entire day during her off day. If nothing else, Jessica would normally not have asked her out this early.
“How are you and the big boss doing lately?” Jessica’s expression seemed strange.
Summer sensed her weird tone. “We’re good.”
“Really?” Jessica did not believe her, apparently.
“Yeah.” Summer nodded as she quietly studied Jessica, who appeared hesitant, as though she had something to say but was unsure how to say it. Summer was not comfortable with Jessica’s behavior, so she pursed her lips and said, “It’s all right, just speak your mind. I can’t stand seeing you hesitating like this.”
“I’ll get straight to the point, then.” Jessica sat straight and said everything in one breath, “You didn’t even tell me that you’ve broken up with Big Boss and gotten another man!”
Summer got confused for a moment before she put two and two together. “I’ve broken up with Leonardo? I have another man?”
“Yes!” Jessica’s expression was serious. “As your bestie who’s shared your bed and clothes, I feel hurt when I have to find out what happens through the news.”
Summer could not help but laugh when she saw Jessica say something so ridiculous with a serious expression. “Who told you that? Which media outlet wrote such a thing? I’ll sue them for defamation.”
Jessica took out her mobile phone and placed it in front of Summer, her face expressionless. “See for yourself.”
Summer took it and was shocked when she saw the news.
“They just wrote that I have a new lover and we were kissing in a car?” Summer looked up at Jessica, dumbstruck.
“There are more photographs down there.” Jessica folded her arms with a frosty look on her face.
