After Summer said that, she resumed her cooking.
Leonardo walked over and hugged her from behind. When he spoke, the heat from his exhale could be felt above her head. “What delicious food are you making?”
“All of your favorites.” Summer’s movements were rather restricted while he hugged her, so she gently pushed him with her elbow. “Let me go, don’t disturb me while I’m cooking.”
Leonardo was unusually obedient and let her go as he leaned aside to watch her cook.
He turned his head and glanced out of the window, discovering that the sky outside had darkened.
He went back to the bedroom to look at the time and found that it was already seven o’clock.
He realized that his nap had been rather long.
By the time he returned to the kitchen, Summer had already taken out the plates to serve the meal.
Leonardo brought the dishes on the countertop to the dining table before he returned to the kitchen to serve the rice.
When Summer sat at the dining table, she could not help but giggle.
“What are you laughing for?” Leonardo raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
Summer shook her head. “It’s nothing, I just happen to think that you’re quite homely now.”
Leonardo was obviously not happy with her statement. “Wasn’t I homely in the past?”
In the past?
Leonardo was a pure young master back then, and he was extremely arrogant.
When they were still living in the villa, he never entered the kitchen.
Summer only smiled with curled lips and did not answer him.
After all, it was impossible for her to say something against her conscience.
Leonardo snorted coldly and began to eat.
…
Since Summer had napped in the evening, she was a little sleepless at night.
She scrolled through her phone for a moment before she looked at Leonardo to ask him about what happened in M Country.
“When are Douglas and the rest coming back?” Leonardo had mentioned that he was the first to come back.
Leonardo reached out and pulled her into his arms. “They’ll depart today and arrive tomorrow.”
“The incident with his father, was it really a traffic accident?” Summer, like Leonardo, was a little suspicious of the matter.
Leonardo demurred for a moment and said, “The police said so.”
Summer heard the hidden meaning behind his words. “What about you? What do you think?”
“What do you think I would think?” Leonardo looked down and pinched Summer’s nose.
Summer waved his hand away, and he used his finger to poke her eyelashes and exclaimed, “They’re that long?”
Summer could not open her eyes and squinted to dodge his hand. “Yours is longer, play with your own.”
A tinge of laughter could be heard in Leonardo’s voice. “Which part’s long again?”
Summer felt that she had been corrupted by Leonardo, as the seemingly unambiguous sentence clearly meant something else.
Leonardo partially supported her body and gazed at her as he said with a serious look, “Why the silence? What were you thinking, I was just saying that my eyelashes are longer than yours…”
Summer pushed him back onto the bed. “Sleep!”
“So rude.”
“I can be ruder. You can go and sleep on the sofa.”
Shameless! Leonardo seemed to purposely be antagonistic toward her, and he quietly said, “There’s no air-conditioning in the living room, it’s hot.” Summer could not be bothered to deal with him. She immediately pulled the quilt over her head and slept.
…
The next morning, Tim came to pick Leonardo up.
Michael and the rest would return to Hoover City today, so she and Leonardo had to play the role of a “divorced couple” again.
Downstairs of the apartment, Tim saw Leonardo walking over. He got down from the car and opened the car door for Leonardo as he greeted him respectfully, “Good morning, Young Master.”
As Leonardo bent down and entered the car, he unexpectedly replied, “Morning.”
Tim froze on the spot.
Normally, when he greeted Leonardo, the latter would normally just respond with a flat “Yeah” or a mere nod.
For him to respond with “morning” meant that Leonardo was in a particularly good mood.
Tim closed the car door and walked over to the other side to drive.
Through the rearview mirror, he noticed Leonardo’s radiant face.
Tim could not help but shake his head. This was the power of love.
The two went directly to Emerson Corporation.
While Leonardo and Michael had pretty much sworn off each other, they still had to maintain a calm appearance.
Rosie was still in Michael’s hands, and Leonardo dared not act rashly.
In turn, with Emerson Corporation under Leonardo’s management, Michael dared not be reckless too.
Both of them checked each other’s movements and had no plans on striking for the time being.
Leonardo knew very well how much Summer cared about Rosie.
Without absolute certainty, he could only stay on in Emerson Corporation and help Michael manage it in addition to maintaining the wealth and glory of his affluent family.
Everyone else only saw the rich and glamorous exterior of the Emerson family but did not know that its insides had long rotted away.
That was also one of the reasons why Leonardo did not want to return to the old residence in recent years.
Be it Michael or the other relatives in the Emerson family, all of them relied on Emerson Corporation to maintain their identity and reputation. They would go to any lengths to keep it that way.
Just as Leonardo entered the elevator, his phone rang.
Taking it out, he found that it was a call from Carl.
For Carl to call him so early in the morning, it had to be a matter concerning Tip Top Entertainment. Leonardo answered the phone and asked. “What happened?”
Carl’s tone was a little unusual as he stuttered, “H-Have you returned yet?”
“I’m back,” Leonardo replied.
Tim followed him from behind, and as the elevator doors closed, there was no longer any signal, so the call dropped.
After leaving the elevator, Leonardo returned Carl’s call.
As he walked to the office, he said, “There was no signal in the elevator earlier. If you have anything to say, go ahead.”
Carl was quiet for a moment before his hesitant voice was heard. “Have you met Summer yet?”
Leonardo could not have guessed that the call was about Summer when Carl called earlier.
He stopped, and his eyebrows twitched. His tone turned somber as well. “What happened to Summer?”
Carl, on the other end, keenly noticed the change in Leonardo’s tone, and he dithered a long time. When Leonardo’s patience was just about to run out, he quickly said to him, “I know you care a lot about Summer, but women, sometimes they’re like that… Not everyone’s like my Jessica…”
Leonardo could not stand Carl’s incessant padding of words and interrupted him abruptly. “Out with it.”
Almost immediately, Carl replied, “Summer is seeing someone else.”
One, two, three seconds…
Leonardo’s chilly voice rang out on the other end of the phone. “I’ll get Tim to look for a brain specialist and commit you to a ward right now.”
Carl was stunned for a moment before he managed to react. “Huh, why don’t you believe me? I’m telling the truth, I have evidence!”
