Chapter 41 Afraid of Taking Another Step Forward

Book:CEO's Substitute Wife Published:2024-5-1

In a semi-conscious state, Summer could vaguely make out that two men were holding her. Their hands were powerful. No matter how hard she tried to fight them off, she still found herself in their grip.
“Where… are all of you… bringing me…” She wanted to scream for help, but all she could manage was a few faint words. She sensed herself being brought into a room and tossed on a bed. Supporting herself with her elbows, she struggled to get up, but she could not even summon what little strength she had. Then came the voices.
“Why did you bring such an ugly one here?”
“Although she’s ugly, she has a perfect body. Her face will be out of sight during the doggy style…” It was the voice of a woman, who paused and sounded even eviler. “I don’t care how many people get involved and how all of you want to play. Just don’t kill her.”
Summer clenched her fists, jabbing her palms with her fingers to try and wake herself up. She felt the pain and began to see a little better.
A man and a woman were standing by the bed, talking, but she could not make out what they were talking about. Her survival instincts wanted her to get out of bed, but she fell to the floor with a loud thud, and the noise alerted the man as well as the woman.
The man came over, lifted her up, and tossed her back on the bed, sounding surprised. “Fucking hell, this woman can still move even with such a high dosage of drugs.”
“Give her more.”
“There will be no fun if she passes out.”
“Just wake her up then…”
Summer felt pain in her jaw as cold liquid gushed down her throat. She then went into a total blackout.

Leonardo sorted out his files in the study room, then went downstairs to get some water. Summer’s room was just a stone’s throw away from his. When he emerged from his room, he instinctively glanced at her room.
The door was ajar. The ugly woman’s routine had been running like clockwork. Why hasn’t she slept yet and why’s her door open? Leonardo strode toward it and pushed the door. The light was on, but no one was on the bed.
He frowned, raising his hand to check the time. It was almost 11. 00 pm. Glancing around, he found a laptop on the sofa. It was switched on but password-protected. Nonetheless, that did not pose any challenge to Leonardo.
He easily defeated the security feature, got in, and saw the social media post that Summer last read. He clicked on the video, watched for two seconds and closed it.
There was nothing special about it; just some rich kids having some adult fun with some aspiring models and actresses. He had seen enough of it, he thought.
However, the fact that Summer was still not home at that time of the night was a little strange. The bed was set, and her nightgown was on the sofa, which meant that she was supposed to take a shower before going to bed.
Could it be that something cropped up so she had to go out in a hurry? All of a sudden, something seemingly crossed Leonardo’s mind, and his expression changed. He returned to her laptop, played the video twice, then picked up his phone to call Carl Jones.
“Well, well, well. It looks like you’ve finally grown a heart and want to help me out with the drinking!” The background noise was a little loud on Carl Jones’s side.
Tip Top was a large company, and he did not have to drink like a skunk to solicit business deals. However, occasional entertainment was inevitable, so such a job would normally fall on Carl Jones’s shoulders.
Leonardo could not have cared less about him. He asked in a low voice, “Where is that B-list actress now?” He did not know what her name was. All he could remember was that she was a good friend of Summer.
“What B-list actress?” Carl Jones replied, sounding disgruntled. “She’s Jessica Hicks, destined to be a superstar!”
Leonardo sneered. “Only if she can stay long enough in the entertainment world.”
Carl Jones’s heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean? If you have any grudges against me, you should come to me, not bully a woman!”
Right then, Leonardo wished he could send Carl Jones to Africa; he did not want such a stupid partner. “Head over to the Violet Gold Club now!” He hung up and headed straight to the club in his car.
The Violet Gold Club was a famous-or rather notorious-entertainment outlet in Hoover City. Set up by a bunch of rich kids, a few scandals had happened inside the club before.
Yet, with its strong backing, it still stayed open until today. It was not a secret to the rich and powerful at the upper echelons of society.
Naturally, Carl Jones knew what the Violet Gold Club was up to. He lunged to his feet, grabbed his jacket, and rushed out the door. He picked up his phone to call Jessica, his hand quivering.

The business dinner that Carl Jones attended was near the Violet Gold Club, so he was already there when Leonardo arrived. He rushed up to Leonardo, asking, “What’s going on?”
Leonardo looked grim. “Summer and your B-list actress are in there.”
Carl Jones turned and ran inside. The people there instantly recognized him.
“Mr. Jones, you want to have some fun too, eh?”
Carl Jones grabbed the person by his collar and barked, “Where’s the party hall?”
Leonardo owned a private club too, but his club was more upper-class. He had never visited this place and had no idea where the party hall was.
The man approached Carl Jones, wanting to butter him up, but seeing his mean demeanor, he dared not utter a word and pointed him to the party hall.
Carl Jones let him off and turned to find Leonardo, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Leonardo had gone inside the party hall. It was chaotic inside. Men and women were teasing as well as caressing each other.
Some were even doing it in the hall. It did not take long before those women began to lay eyes on Leonardo. Like cats to mice, they could not wait to pounce on him.
A woman came up to chat with him, putting her hand on his shoulder and her breasts against his chest, saying, “Hello, handsome man. Are you alone?”
Before the woman could come close, though, Leonardo got a hold of her hand and flung her out of the way. “Get away from me!”
The woman screamed, fell to the ground, and passed out. Seeing what happened, the others were hesitant to come near him.
Just then, he saw something in the corner: a woman and a man. They were entangled, and the woman’s back was facing him. She was half-naked as she sat on the man’s lap, swinging her hips in a pagan rhythm.
The back of the woman looked familiar. Leonardo was rooted to the spot as if his feet had grown some roots. He was afraid to take another step forward.
