Standing behind Jerome, Summer took half a step back away from him.
Vicky’s eyes flashed with anger. “Jerome! What do you mean? Are you protecting this ugly woman?”
“She’s your sister!” Jerome could not help but knit his brows tightly together. He began to despise Vicky.
There was no way a spoiled child like Vicky could listen to things like that. She sneered, “Stop acting like a saint. It was you who came up with the idea to frame this ugly woman, asking her to admit to stealing my fiance!”
Jerome sounded nervous now. “That was only because I believed in your lie!”
Listening to their conversation, Summer realized how naive she was. She had underestimated this man. The more honest one looked on the outside, the more sinister the person could be on the inside. She was lucky to find out who he really was.
“Stop it!” Summer emerged from behind Jerome and looked at him. “Can you please leave first? I have something to discuss with my elder sis.”
Due to what Vicky said, Jerome had misunderstood Summer. Now with Vicky’s scandal blowing up, it was only natural that he switched to Summer’s side. Since Summer and Vicky were sisters, they should talk over their differences behind closed doors, so he nodded and left the room.
As soon as Jerome left, Vicky angrily pounced on Summer. “You bitch! You ruined everything for me!”
Summer saw it coming and dodged. Vicky missed, lost her balance, and fell to the floor.
Squatting down, Summer grabbed Vicky by her hair, her beautiful eyes stone-cold. “Vicky, you deserve it. You shouldn’t have driven me up the wall in the first place.”
She held on to her hair so tightly that the color drained from Vicky’s face. She struggled to tilt her head upward in the direction of Summer’s pull, trying to lessen the pain.
She screamed, “Are you crazy? How dare you treat me like this!”
Summer sneered and slapped her on the face three to four times. They were loud and crisp.
“You-You… I… Karen… leave me alone…” Her face swelled. She looked at Summer in disbelief with horror in her eyes and a stuttering voice.
Summer wore a gentle smile. “The slaps were to pay you back for what you did to me. Still thinking about using Karen to threaten me? Do whatever you want with her.” Despite what she said, she knew she could not bear to see anything happen to Karen.
If she were that ruthless, she would have sought her revenge when they forced her to marry into the Emerson family, but she was not. Had they not made use of her and framed her, she would have never thought of seeking revenge.
“You better not stick your nose where it doesn’t belong, and everyone will get along just fine.” Summer released her hand from her hair, walked over her, and left.
Vicky pulled herself to her feet, face swollen. However, her eyes were still filled with hatred and menace.
Summer, I will make you pay! she swore to herself.

Summer did not feel happy after she taught Vicky a lesson. Vicky was her biological sister; the same bloodline flowed in their veins. Ironically, they were destined to be enemies.
She was not on her best today, and her job interviews sucked.
On her way home, Summer received a call from Jessica.
“Summer, you got an invitation from Tip Top for a job interview, didn’t you?”
“How did you know?” Summer was a little surprised. Did Carl Jones tell her about it since they knew each other? It could not be; people like Carl Jones in the top management would not bother with a small matter like that.
“You don’t have to know how I got wind of it, but you’d be an idiot if you don’t go for the interview, especially when it’s a large company.”
“Tip Top’s approached you before too. Why did you refuse to sign up with them?” Summer retorted.
“That’s because I didn’t like the guy, Carl Jones. But you have no grudges against him, so why not give it a shot?”
Right when Summer was about to say something, she heard someone calling for Jessica on the other end.
Jessica quickly said, “Summer, I’ve got to stop here. There will be dinner tonight, I have to get dressed.” Then the line went dead before Summer had any time to respond.
Summer held the phone in her hand, finding herself in a dilemma.
She had told “Douglas” outright that she would not work for Tip Top Entertainment Group. But now, it looked like it was going to be a slap in her face.
Half of the reason why she studied dramatic arts and literature was because of Jessica; she wanted to be a screenwriter for Jessica.
But since Jessica had signed up with Tip Top’s rival, it was not going to be easy to work with her even if she came up with a good story.
Now that Jessica had found out about it, if she did not accept Tip Top’s invitation, Jessica would surely feel guilty.
So, she decided to go to Tip Top Entertainment Group, and the only way to do it was to not let “Douglas” find out about it.

In front of the mansion, Summer alighted from a cab and saw a black vehicle pull up in front of the gate. It was a Bentley, an expensive car with elegant body lines. It looked understated yet stately.
Summer thought, What a nice car. The vehicle’s owner must be someone mature and low-profile. But the next second, she saw “Douglas” getting out of the vehicle.
Leonardo had already seen her before he alighted. He went up to her and greeted her with a smile, “Mrs. Emerson.”
Tim, who got out of the car after Leonardo, heard how he greeted Summer and became uptight.
Summer responded with an “hmm” and went inside.
Something had been puzzling her; she could not understand why Tim was always around “Douglas”.
However, the question did not bother her for long. When she learned that Leonardo was home, she went to prepare dinner.
After the meal, she went back to her room. While online, she stumbled upon a hot search on social media.
“The Promiscuity of the Rich! I received a party invitation from a friend of mine. Since there was nothing to do at home, I decided to go and have a look, thinking it was a normal function. Little did I expect it to be a gang bang session.”
Footage was attached.
Summer clicked to play the video and saw the image of the back of a woman who looked like Jessica. The footage flashed across the screen so fast that had it not been someone she knew well, she would not have recognized the person.
Then, she remembered about Jessica going to dinner that night. She immediately picked up her phone and called Jessica, but she did not answer. Summer started to have butterflies in her stomach. She grabbed her handbag and rushed out the door.
Arriving at the party venue, she got in. Inside, the atmosphere was strange just as she had expected. She searched through the entire party hall, but Jessica was not there.
She started to grow anxious, but all of a sudden, someone grabbed her hand from behind. She looked back only to find that another person had also grabbed her other hand.
Before she knew it, someone was clenching her jaw and pouring a glass of liquor down her throat. Very quickly, her vision started to blur, and she lost her strength. All she knew was two people were holding her and walking out of the place.
