The new wedding
Ava couldn’t have experienced a more repulsing feeling as the one she had when Rian grabbed her by the mouth again, like the other night, he’d let his emotions take over and kissed her without her consent, without her expecting it. Of course, the man she loved never needed consent before he did things that drove her wild, still she couldn’t but admit that this feeling with Rian was nothing like that.
Right now, the way she felt reminded her of what she truly wanted, needed. The only one touch she burned for, the one touch she desired more than anything, and no matter how much that man hurt her, it never seemed to squander any emotions she felt for him. Oh, please… stop thinking about these things, Ava. She scolded herself as she pulled away from Rian’s mouth.
“I’m sorry…” he gasped.
“No, it’s fine. it shouldn’t make any difference since we’ll soon be mated anyway.”
“I know, but it’s wrong for me to be taking my pleasures of you without at least getting your consent. I should have done that first.”
Ava nodded, “don’t worry Rian. It’s forgotten.”
“I will try my best to be in more control of my feelings whenever I’m with you, Ava.”
“Of course, you will.”
They talked some more a bit before Rian decided to leave her for some time before dinner.
“I have to go now darling. It will soon be dinner time.”
“Ok.”
“I will be informing alpha Daryl, and then the whole pack of my intentions with you this evening at the dinner table. I will ask for his blessings and then we will fix a date for our joining. Does that sound okay to you?”
“Of course, it does. Whatever you say.”
As she walked him out of her room and closed the door behind him, she heard Layla’s voice again.
‘You don’t love him. What about your happiness, Ava? What about what you really want?’
‘What I want does not matter. What matters is that I’ll be getting protection and fatherly love for my son, and that alone is enough for me. Stop trying to change my mind, Layla. I’ve made my decision already.’
‘What about Lucas De’ Clan?’
‘When he comes, he will just have to accept the fact that I am no longer his. Once Rian and I become mated, his mark will become void. Whatever he and I had in the past will be over, completely broken, and never to be restored again.’
Her wolf didn’t feel good about the things she said, but Ava didn’t mind. It’s time to wake up from those fantasies she once had with the man she loved. The ones her wolf shared with Erasmus, it’s time to bury it all.
**********
That evening at dinner, alpha Daryl entered the dining hall with Rian by his side. Ava knew that Rian would have informed him by now, and now alpha Daryl had come to let the whole pack know of their decision.
All the chatter and clanking seized as Daryl took his place on the alpha seat, passing a smile to his followers before beginning to address them.
“Good evening, wolves of the Daivie. How are you all this evening?”
“Good sire.” The wolves chorused.
“I’m glad to hear that. And I want to commend each and every single one of you for performing your assignments whole heartedly. With each day that passes, the Daivie pack takes a leap in being restored to its former glory. The rogues tried but they did not succeed, thanks to the help of our allies.”
“Thanks to the help of our allies!” They chorused again.
“Well, I didn’t come down this evening for only that. I am here to pass an announcement that one of my subjects wanted you all to know.” Daryl then passed a look to Rian, who then came forward as he continued speaking to the wolves.
“Omega Rian Dipinti, one of my loyal subjects wants you all to know that in three days’ time, he will be getting joined to a wonderful lady who just joined this pack not too long ago. Ava Maynard, may you please rise?”
As Ava was called, Keisha quickly ran over to her mistress to assist her so her small bump wouldn’t hit against the dinner table as she tried to stand. Soon after, Ava was holding hands with Rian, and they both stood in front of all Daivie wolves at the dinner table. Alpha Daryl continued.
“I am a powerful alpha, but even I do not have a say in who my subjects choose to tie their bonds with. Ava Maynard, dear, is this really what you want?”
Ava didn’t blink an eye as she answered the question quickly, like she would have given a different answer if she allowed any more second’s pass.
“Yes, I do sire. I am sure that this is what I want.”
Alpha Daryl seemed surprised, but then he shrugged it off as he went on.
“If that is so, then I have no choice but to bestow upon you both my blessings. May you both thrive and may your union flourish like the fresh palm tree. Remember that there will be storms along the way, but I hope that your union will be strong enough to bend and not break under such strong winds. May your roots grow deeper and your bond mightier. May it never lack all that it needs to survive.”
“Thank you, alpha Daryl.” Rian bowed. Then there was an applause by the Daivie wolves as they celebrated the new couple.
Alpha Daryl then turned to Ava. “Now that the announcement has been made, you both can carry on with your wedding preparations. I wish you nothing but the very best.”
