Final answer
***TWO WEEKS LATER***
Ava is much of a slow reader, as she loves to take her time to delve deep into the stories, page by page, and if it weren’t for the ample free time she had, goddess knows she would have taken much longer to complete the set of books Rian sent her. Ever since the night he kissed her, she’d been avoiding him stylishly. He might have noticed, or he might have not, but either way, that didn’t stop him from trying to reach her as much as he could, no matter how much she stylishly pushed him away. No matter what little time she gave him, it never seemed to be enough.
Her thoughts about Rian suddenly capsized when she discovered something as the turned over the last page on the final book, her heart fled when she saw the words, and it wasn’t just the handwriting that made her know who it was, but the words itself.
Hope you enjoyed the stories,
I’ll be back for you one day, Precious.
Wait for me.
Precious. There’s only one person that calls her by that name, and the writing on the book now made her realize that Rian had been lying to her about being Mr. Romantic, but that wasn’t the foremost thing on her mind, what bothered her was the real person who had been her the gifts this whole time. Her secret admirer and the real Mr. Romantic, her mate, Lucas De’ Clan.
So, he’s been the one this whole time. He knows she’s here, and never bothered to come see her or even check up on her; only kept sending her gifts like some coward.
Her mind filled with so much worry as she reached to place the finished book on her table. She’s beginning to get frustrated. Why is he confusing her like this? The last time they saw, he stated clearly that he doesn’t want her anymore, and she leaves now, only for her to just discover that he’s kept his eye on her for so long. He never let her go, he still needed her, only that he was too proud to admit it.
She suddenly heard a knock on her door. Her mind wasn’t in full awareness because of what she’d just found out. She only assumed that it was Keisha outside and thus, told the person outside to come in.
The door opened and Rian entered. He was just back from patrol, and of course the first thing he thought to do was to come and see her. Now leaving Ava silently regretting that she should have asked who it was first.
“Good evening, Ava.” He muttered as he took his seat in front of her.
“Good evening, Rian.” He could tell that her mind was occupied with so many thoughts and he felt concern for her then.
“Ava, is something the matter? Why the frown?”
She stuttered, “oh… um-um… nothing… it’s j-just….”
“Just what?”
She thought to confront him about the lie he told her two weeks ago, she thought to ask him why he wasn’t honest about being her secret admirer, but instead she kept silent. There was no need for that since she wasn’t too pleased about finding out who the real sender was anyway.
“Nothing,” she sighed. “I was just thinking about the book I read, that’s all.”
“Oh, so you’re done with them, I guess? I’m sure you loved it… How were they?” He beamed, asking confidently as he had no clue of what was truly going on in her mind.
“They were fine. Thank you for the gifts,” she muttered with a hint of sarcasm.
“You’re welcome, dear. You should know by now that I would do anything for you, Ava.”
“Of course, I know.”
He scratched the back of his head nervously before continuing, “um… I came here because I wanted to ask about your answer Ava. It’s been two weeks already, I didn’t want to come here like this because I know that you deserve as much time as you need to think this through, but…”
“You couldn’t help it, right?”
He sighed, with a small smile, “you already know me well, Ava, really well.”
“So, you want me to give you an answer right now?”
“Yes. I’m sorry I had to come and ask like this, but I think two weeks should have been enough time for you to think it over.”
He held Rian’s words in her mind, as she thought of the note she’d just read, the one from her mate. He’s coming back for her. Would he be pleased if he found out she was mated to someone else by then? Of course, he wouldn’t.
Lucas’s note clearly stated that he had intentions of coming her to take her back home, she’ll be damned if she ever lets that happen. Not with the way he treated her and their son. Even though she misses the wolves there, she had no mind of returning to the dawn pack, she had no mind to be with her mate anymore.
“Are you sure? Are you sure you will give me and my child as much love as you promise?”
Rian nodded confidently, “yes, I promise. I promise to give you love in measures that you cannot imagine, dear Ava. I promise to be loyal, honest and truthful, and to never leave you.”
Before she gave her final answer, she confronted Layla. Her wolf did not seem to support this path she was about to choose. She passed a glance at Rian, who still sat there, waiting patiently for her answer.
‘Do you think he’ll be as honest and truthful to you as you think? Remember how he just lied to you…’ Layla was finding reasons to discourage her from making this decision. The only answer she resolved in her heart was that Rian couldn’t be a much worse wolf than Lucas De’ Clan.
She made her resolve then, “I accept you, Rian. I accept to be joined as your new mate.”
Lucas de’ Clan can go and burn in hell now; she’s moved on.
