Sabrina’s weakness
Madeline had finished speaking with Ava, and it was now time for her to go home, Nani was escorting her to one of the refugee trucks that was prepared to drive her back to her destination, as they walked, both women began to engage in conversation.
“I want to thank you for all you’ve done Madeline! A friend like you is worth more than the finest gold in the world!”
“Ha! Stop with the flattery Nani, I’m only playing the part I was meant to play in the lives of those I come across, nothing more.”
“I’m glad I came across you in my life Madeline, and I hope that maybe in the next life, we’ll bump into each other again!”
“It’s been an honor to serve Nani, please extend my greetings to your alpha once this battle has been won and Ava is back home.”
“I hope it will be won soon; I cannot bear the thought of Ava having to raise that child all on her own without his father!”
“Do not worry Nani, the best is yet to come, Susannah’s time will soon come to an end and happiness will once again return to the dawn house! But… there is one final warning I will now give to you before I depart from here.”
Nani’s face etched with worry then, “what is it again? Is there something else you’ve seen???”
“The time of Sabrina will pass, and after that, only one single person stands in the way of everlasting peace in the dawn house, that one person your alpha has to be wary about, that one person your alpha has kept for so long by his side. That person knows all his secrets, his ups and downs, and in the coming times, that person will use it against him. Apart from Sabrina, that one person seeks for nothing other than the downfall of Lucas De’ Clan.”
Nani nearly lost her voice shouting, “Oh no! Not again… Who? Who is it this time…? tell me… Who???” She pleaded earnestly.
“I’m sorry, you know I would have told you if I knew the answer. The person’s name wasn’t revealed in the vision, but… the only further warning I can give your alpha is for him to watch out for THE SIGN OF THE GAMMA. That is all I’ve been allowed to see, and that is all I can tell you for now.”
Nani’s heart still held worry even hours after Madeline bid her goodbye and left in the truck. She found it very hard to do anything else other than think about what she’d said.
The sign of the gamma? Oh, goddess, please let no further harm come to Lucas De’ Clan! This is a very important vision that Madeline just revealed to her, but how is she supposed to find out who this person is?
Nani knows its not a good thing to keep her worries aside, but she has no choice; Sabrina is the one they are dealing with now. When this sign of the gamma comes, we will cross that bridge when we get to it, but for now, it’s time to deal with Susannah… Sabrina or whatever she calls herself.
**********
That evening, Cian and Kiara had arrived from the dawn packhouse to the camps to visit Ava. They were more than happy to see her after two weeks of overwhelming duties, the gladdening news of Ava’s pregnancy then made Kiara jump with joy.
“This is the most promising news I’ve heard today! Especially with all this news about Susannah the witch popping up just like that!”
Cian had gone with Nani and some guards to collect firewood, so Ava was left alone with Kiara in her tent, the Beta’s wife had not stopped ranting about the pregnancy since she heard.
“Oh! Our Ava will soon become a mommy!” She beamed.
“Yes, I will dear, and very soon, it will be your turn too.”
“I hope so too friend, it will be my greatest joy to hold my little cub in my hands one day,” Kiara sighed, shortly remembering Martha.
Ava held her two hands in assurance, “yours will happen too, I know the goddess will one day gift you and Cian a beautiful bundle.”
“I’m so happy for you Ava! I really am.”
“I know, when I found out I was pregnant, I couldn’t believe it at first, but… I guess the goddess decided to give me a reason to fight for. Now I know more than ever I have to return home so my child can be united with his father.”
Kiara then took her hand from hers hesitantly, first of all reluctant but then finding a few words to say, “I don’t know Ava….”
“What?” Ava asked. “Is there something troubling your mind?”
“You know I’m your friend Ava, and I wouldn’t like to lie to you about my doubts, but… are you sure you want to return back now? Especially in this condition… returning whilst your banishment still stands will definitely cause problems, and you know that the air hasn’t really cleared since you left… why not wait for some time?”
“I wish I could, but I’ve been given a warning Kiara, and if I let my fears stop me from doing what I was destined to do on time, my mate will be killed. I have to do something to stop Sabrina from killing my mate, there’s no time to waste any longer.”
“But Sabrina is a very powerful witch, do you really think you can go up against her?”
“She can, because just like every other living creature, Sabrina has a weakness.”
Ava and Kiara turned in the direction which they heard Nani’s voice, seeing as she’d just entered Ava’s tent with Cian, holding a bundle of firewood. Nani bent to drop the bundle on one side, before retrieving a small box from Cian.
“There’s something I told Beta Cian to bring from the weapons room for you Ava, you’re going to need it when we return to the dawn house.”
“What is it?” Ava looked up as she took the box that Nani handed to her, opening it to answer her question; the box held a small silver dagger with a very sharp end, removing the dagger from the box, Ava admired the beautiful weapon in her hand, whilst being careful enough not to cut herself with it.
“It’s an ancient weapon, an immortal blade carved by one of the greatest swordsmiths in history with the help of a sorcerer, it still glows and cuts well despite its age. I’m sure you’ll find good use for it once you go up against Sabrina.”
