The priestess
Seeing Ava speak like that shattered Nani’s heart but she refused to let it show, not just because she hopes that things will get better, but because she knows that isn’t the real Ava speaking, or at least she hopes that Ava’s behavior is Sabrina’s doing, if it wasn’t then there’s nothing more she can do. She doesn’t know for now and neither is she sure, but now she knows that she can’t fight this battle alone, she needs help and she only knows one place she might be able to get it.
The priestess of the old catholic church of Bandera, Madeline Simon, also known to be Nani’s childhood friend. She happens to be a seer with special gifts, one of which involves foretelling the future, she was the one who gave the first vision of Susannah the witch after Lucas’s curse, Nani owes her a great deal, because if it wasn’t for Madeline’s helpful guidance, she would have never been able to help Lucas De’ Clan then, now she comes to Madeline for an even greater problem, one that troubles not just the alpha now, but his mate and his unborn child.
“Long time no see old friend. You can imagine how surprised I was when you told me you were coming, I almost didn’t want to get my hopes high,” Madeline beamed a smile at her as she welcomed Nani into her living room, her home a small building within the church premises.
“I know, I’m sorry I’ve not been able to come and visit in a long time, I’ve had so many responsibilities up to my neck!” Nani sighed as she slumped on the couch, Madeline took a seat in front of her.
“I understand perfectly dear, I did tell you that the path that lies ahead of you is a busy one, and you alone are responsible for the well being of Lucas De’ Clan and all his followers, I see that you have been performing your duties with utmost honor, expecting no reward, and I’m proud of you for that!”
Nani nodded, “thank you Madeline.”
She creased a brow in suspicion, “What is it that brought you here today?”
“Well…” Nani tried to speak, tried to recall everything as she spoke, it was hard to bring out the words, and Madeline understood very well.
“Take your time dear, I wont rush you into saying anything, for you to have come here, my guess is that it is a similar problem to the last one.”
“Yes, but this time, it is a different person that wants to see the downfall of my Lucas.”
Madeline then put her head up in confirmation, “that is all you needed to say. I will now tell you the vision I had before you stepped into my house… are you ready for it?”
Nani nodded sharply this time, she knows that once Madeline begins with her soothsaying, there’s no stopping her from telling you the truth, she dishes it out raw, just the way she receives it from the heavenly skies, and she leaves nothing left unsaid, once she tells you what to do, then you’d better act on it as soon as possible, lest you face severe consequences.
“More than ready dear, you don’t know how desperate I am to hear what you have to say, thinking about how miserable everyone is back at home just bothers me so much!”
Madeline then headed to the point, telling her, “You mentioned that it was a different person that seeks the downfall of your alpha, I am more than happy to inform you that you are dealing with the same person as before.”
Nani jolted from her seat upon hearing the words, “Susannah? She’s the one responsible for this….? But how is this possible??? Was she the one who sent Sabrina?”
“Indeed, Susannah is the one who sent Sabrina, and indeed, Susannah IS Sabrina herself, she only wears a mask of deceit, a masking spell, a different face that shields her true identity, you’ve been dealing with the same person this whole time; the same one who cursed your alpha with the beast.”
Upon hearing it then, Nani couldn’t hold back the tears she’s been holding since she entered, “But what does she want from him again??? She must have gotten her revenge after…” she paused, the words were too painful but she had to let them out anyway, “…after cursing him and taking away our Bambi and Amelia… why won’t she leave him alone…? Why?”
“She seeks revenge for the ones she lost before, it seems that she wasn’t satisfied with the former punishment he was given; she wants to do more this time, much more that will end up in Lucas De’ Clan losing everything; Including. His. Life.”
Nani began to panic, dropping to her knees… “please tell me…! Tell me if … if there is anything! Anything that can be done to stop Susannah once and for all! Anything to get rid of her! To get her out of our lives for good!!! I need to know now, please!”
“There is but one-way, dear friend.
“What is it? Please tell me… Tell me what it is!” She begged desperately.
“The curse of the beast your alpha was given, also turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because not only did he have a new guardian (the moon goddess) watching over him, he was also given a new destiny, a destiny he now shares with another, his mate. The two of them share a special bond and Susannah knows that the only way she can ever succeed in her revenge is if the bond is torn apart.”
“Yes…. Yes… that was why she sent Ava away! That was why she framed her!!! She had it all planned out! Her real intention was for Ava to be killed if not for the mercy Lucas showed by banishing her instead! Oh goddess…. We’ve been living with the devil herself!!! She’s been right under our noses and we didn’t even notice it, oh… I don’t know why I didn’t come to you earlier!!!”
“I am not finished dear friend; you want to know how to stop Susannah from achieving her aim? Then you have to restore the bond between the two mates.”
